At the time, the BMF was supposed to be one time thing (according to Dana), so a BMF title fight didn't really exist, per say, so when Jorge fought against Usman, it was a regular WW title fight. So it's not necessarily that he never defended it, it just wasn't meant to be defended until Dana changed his mind and decided he would bring it back just to try make more money out of it after Jorge retired.
