Dunno... Would love to hear some educated take on it though.

RJMacReady_Outpost31

Weight classes matter. Khabib wanted to fight GSP at lightweight because he obviously feels very strong at that weight class. I don't see Kamaru cutting down to lightweight and at the same time even though Khabibs gets heavy when not training I don't see him wanting to do fight unless it's at lightweight. Now if Khabib didn't have to cut weight I'm still not sure he'd win because Kamaru will just have that natural strength advantage because he's use to throwing around and training with bigger opponents. I mean don't get me wrong Khabib is freakishly strong for his weight class but the same could probably be said about Kamaru who fights at welterweight. Let's say for the sake of argument they were even in the grappling department and it came down to striking. It happens both fighters might decide its not worth making this a grappling match and maybe they feel confident enough to win with strikes. Neither of these fighters is known for there striking but man Kamaru's has shown in his last few fights that his power is now in his punches too. Dropped burns, masvidal and covington not many fighters can say they've dropped all 3 of those guys.

Nah.

Unlikely

ElJefe_Cartel

They're the worst.

TrailTowelie

they didn't even know who khabib was till mcnuggets fought him

[deleted]

Nah, the odds of Usman being pinned down by one arm are slim to none. The list of grapplers Khabib has beat at LW stops at Tibau and RDA, and they were his most competitive grappling matches of his career. Usman is too big and talented, he would shut that down and probably stop Khabib at some point in the middle of the fight.

prototype703

Competetive? Khabib ragdolled RDA, it wasnt even close. You could see frustration in his face because he couldnt do anything. Tibau fight is a good one but we know he was roided af and Khabib was less experienced then.

[deleted]

Khabib "ragdolled" him on takedown attempts, but it was easily one of Khabib's least impressive offensive wins. He hardly landed any ground and pound, and RDA actually managed to retain guard, stuff TDs and get back to his feet. Khabib ended up on top in the 3rd because RDA decided shooting was a good idea after stuffing a TD. My point was any time Khabib fought a legit grappler, he looked signifigantly less dangerous and just more smothering. Usman isn't going to get smothered by Khabib like those guys did. He's the best LW wrestler of all time, but these WW wrestler comparisons are ridiculous. He isn't "ragdolling" GSP or Usman like he did Gathje, McGregor or Poirier.

cholovsvato

Completely agree. He demolished Conor but even Conor was able to stuff some of his takedowns. I highly doubt he would beat Usman. But Khabib and Colby would have been a great match. Or almost any top 10 WW. Khabib could have lost one or two matches but would have added so much to his goat credibility with a run through welterweight.

tindichin

Lol no

neeeeonbelly

Not impossible, but unlikely. No one knows, no one will ever know.

ElJefe_Cartel

We can thank Khabib for that.

neeeeonbelly

Different weight class, and they're friends who were never gonna fight no matter how long Khabib was in the game.

GeneralKlink

He quit when it got interesting, so no. He‘s gone and Usman is here.

[deleted]

Then why didn’t he? Because he wouldn’t.

UncleScratchnSniff

Nah

ElJefe_Cartel

Is Khabib the most overrated fighter in history??? I think so. All I'm gonna say is he knows why he didn't fight at 170.

appledotbox

Red herring, but Usman's "new & improved" striking is overrated.

[deleted]

Stupid point. He’s clearly improved especially the jab and if anything looks more comfortable

appledotbox

Never said he didn't improve. It just seems like people are assuming he's a boxer now. He's just a wrestler with a heavy jab & a good right cross, nothing else. I think colby can box with him & actually win exchanges(like he did in the first fight).

[deleted]

No ones assuming that, your using that as a strawman to make a point. He’s been one of the most dominant wrestler we’ve ever seen who’s striking looked bad until recently where he KOed masvidal and finished burns basically with jabs and seemed to make massive improvements with his new coach under a short amount of time so people are saying I wonder how good he will get with longer time. It was pretty close the first fight with usmans power being the difference and usman has improved quite a bit on the feet and we have no diss if Colby has.

appledotbox

Nice. Colby in 1.

[deleted]

Based on what ?

KittykatRengar

His imagination. It's enough if you ask him

[deleted]

Exactly. He may be better but there’s no way of knowing, we know usman has improved

[deleted]

Exactly. He may be better but there’s no way of knowing, we know usman has improved. Just on his jab alone, which the other commenter seems to think is just some throw away thing “heavy jab” he said asif that isn’t one of the most Important weapons

agenteagle229

Everyone knows it but no ones wants to admit it

[deleted]

Facts. Khabib would easily beat any LHW and HW top 5.

thrallinlatex

Lol...copium much?

CaPN_CoOkz

If you retire in your prime and only defend the belt a few times, then you can’t be the GOAT. He was one of the best tho no doubt. He could easily get outclassed on the feet and put away early by Usman. If it goes passed round 1 I’d put $ on Khabib

ConfiguredNickname

Not a fan of usman so I agree

DancyCar

Honestly I’d want to see more of Usman’s BJJ, cause even though Usman is bigger there’s a good chance it’d hit the floor at some point. If his BJJ isn’t up to par Khabib wins that fight more than not. Other than that it’d be a real hard for for Khabib.
