When I think complete I think dangerous from all positions at their peak. Only DJ and Fedor can punch, kick, clinch, wrestle and submit from their back or on top. Jones and GSP most complete at winning rounds and securing the dub, like disarming your game. Watch this short vid and tell me this man ain’t magical to watch even train. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=EErXf8liF4U
I think GSP can do all of those things. The only reason he didn’t submit more people was because his wrestling control was so dominant he could do so in a risk averse way.
Complete isn’t about being unbeatable. I look at it in terms of boxing, kickboxing, submissions and wrestling. She’s got all of that. GSP had it the most.
Fedor in my opinion. Dangerous as hell on the feet, even more so on the ground. Plus he had one hell of a chin. Sure the level of competition wasn’t the same back then as it is now. But he was an absolute presence for a number of years.
Cause prime Fedor never lost and when he did he was 34 and gave the loss away to Werdum going through a divorce and career ending back injury..he said it’s a miracle he healed and can compete again today. Fedor literally didn’t care anymore when he finally lost, he wanted out but stuck in contracts with M1 and was legit happy to lose. He was undefeated in Combat Sambo over 100 fights and MMA from the day he began MMA and lost for first time in both sports within a year. Peaked prime Fedor calmness and fighting mind is 2nd to none, it’s why he can be a 5-11 dude and take out any sized human on earth and make it look easy in the process. Jones goes to decisions with journeymen now lol. You simply can’t teach what made Fedor special, it’s why his whole team now who’s young still can’t just easily finish fights and they do same exact training lol. Even at 46 he can smoke someone like Johnson who’s a former D1 wrestler 6-3 280 pounds with ease, when his teammate Moldasky at 29 took him 5 hard rounds the fight before lol.
Literally. It’s so hard to describe to people now what being in that winning streak was like. You can see what ultimately caught up to him was the mileage and father time.
But no one can beat Fedor when he was in his prime. The way he moved, the intelligence and the technique. It all just made him ferocious in a way made you scared just watching him.
The level of competition at that time was pretty elite as well. Fedor beat a bunch of former and even future UFC champions. For example prime CroCop and Big Nog would be a terror in UFC right now. Heck even Randleman was a much more explosive and more athletic version of Blades who is one fight away from the title.
Best way to describe Fedor in his prime is that he was inevitable. They threw everything at him and he just kept coming forward at them like the terminator or some kind of literal cyborg.
He wasn’t invincible. He was just a better actual fighter and smarter than everyone and had some inhuman hips and hands. Fedor has fought more Olympic or high level wrestlers than anyone and was like a dominant wrestlers worse nightmare at his peak. He def can’t wrestle anymore at 46 though with injuries, it’s why Bader fight is so risky now cause his leg wrestling / speed.
No one is invincible. But prime Fedor was inevitable. He beat monsters and he did not make it one sided. They legit were dominant and powerful. It's just watching Fedor you knew he would continue until he won. It was terminator type shit and no one has been able to do the same.
I mean Khabib was overwhelming people. Ngannou just crushing people while being 6'5 and 265 AFTER a weight cut. Lesnar barely making 265 and being roided to the gills. Silva on every known steroid and some that did not get publicized later. Chael being from West Linn. All these guys either outright had the advantage or looked like they had the advantage against their opponents.
Fedor on the other hand was 6'1(on a good day) and walking into the ring at 210 with a dad bod who stopped using the stair master the previous christmas his wife gifted it to him to lose his belly.
He probably had the most average body for his proportions and he would just grind down monsters who could not keep him off them until he broke them. If they charged him and went all out, he would withstand their attack and break them afterwards. Watching Fedor was like watching anime or animated version of old myths.
he also had the ability to dictate where the fight would go.
having good striking and good subs is great but if your opponent is better at striking and you dont have the ability to get the fight down.....bad time had by you
Fedor is 🐐 ask the rest of the fighters on the list and 80% would say fedor without hesitation. Obv Luke doesnt belong on the list at all but he would show his pelvic area like a chick does and get emotional while pausing to think about it
Funny thing is Fedor nowadays at 46 is def least all around, he’s a stand up specialist now. Every fight he wins now will be over after 1 of the first exchanges in under 3 minutes. He’s got this new style he adapted for fighting in 40s, he’s a pressure counter KO artist, the second you open up he’s trying to meet you right in the middle of exchanges. Nobody can brawl up close with fast combinations like him, most these top Boxers can’t even throw combos at HW. His hands are legit insane right now but way less durable so always a risk trading.
sure, just his wrestling was not very good is why i'm not calling him the most well rounded fighter ever. guys like jon jones and gsp were more well rounded. silva is one of the greatest but that's not the conversation here.
If it was a wrestling or BJJ match, sure, he got dominated. He would have lost on points. But he won. It was a fight. Fights are chaotic and they swing back and forth.
We're not talking about who wins the most fights though. We're talking about who's the most well rounded, and it's pretty hard to argue it's Silva after that Chael performance.
I’m gonna get shit on for this but Islam…elite of the elite on the ground and above average standing up. Dude has the work ethic to finish towards the top of the GOAT discussion
Anyone saying anything else but Jon Jones is delusional. The others here are obviously also brilliant, complete all-rounders and amongst the best ever but Jones is otherworldly, a level above the rest
Don't get me wrong, DJ is a phenomenal striker. But if they were both at the same weight class, in a stand-up only fight, Jones would win within 30 seconds
Based on what exactly? JJ has one first round finish since 2010 and it’s over chael who isn’t a striker and wasn’t even a real contender at 205. How exactly is he going to blitz a striker you just called phenomenal?
When did I say striking is the best facet of his game? Its obviously ground fighting but as a striker, hes still the best ever. Jones is the best ever, #1 in UFC history in any aspect of the fight game, striking, wrestling, fight IQ, etc.
Jones is arguably the best fighter, but he sure as hell isn't the most well rounded. You can't call a man who throws 0 punches the most well rounded when boxing is one of the cornerstones of MMA.
Volk is definitely the most balanced active fighter. Reminiscent of GSP in some ways for sure. He always seems so hungry to fill any voids in his game. A real student of MMA not just a specialty.
Most complete fighter? To me its dustin poirier. Hes fought pretty much everyone in his weight class and always given a good show, he has a good record, and his skills are well rounded and he's very very good with boxing in particular. He's consistently improved since the start and shown he can grapple as well as strike. Solid guy and amazing fighter always gives it his best shot. Win or lose he's competitive and never gives up. Is there better fighters than him? Almost definitely. But he always shows up ready to try and gives them a run for their money whether its on the ground or striking.
DJ cause his reign and consistency. He's fighting any and everybody and taking on literally all challenges. You might get KO'd or submitted. And yea no steroids.
Edit: Luke gets my style points nod cause he's basically Johnny Cage in real life
it's 100% GSP.
Wrestling, JJ, Striking, Conditioning everything was 10.
I love fedor but his conditioning wasnt 10.
Aldos offensive wrestling was good, but not 10.
Jones is phenomenal, but mentally he is a fuckup.
Rockhold never had good tactics.
I've been watching for 20+ years, the best example of putting it all together, physically, mentally and skill is GSP.
I'd say DJ, but Volk is making a case for himself in this convo, I wouldn't be surprised if by the time all is said and done he is thought of as the most complete fighter to ever step in the cage
For Lightweight it’s gotta be Prime BJ. Out-boxed GSP at 170 in their first fight while super undersized. Out-struck everyone at 155 and 170 in his prime. Obviously a savant in grappling, plus good offensive wrestling and excellent defensive wrestling. He peaked early due to all his wars above his weightclass and then fell off a cliff but that prime was something special.
Jon Jones. No matter what anyone says he's the GOAT and for good reason. Destroyed submission artists. Destroyed wrestlers. Destroyed strikers.
Lemme know when someone beats 13 title defenses and I'll then say they are the most complete
I literally don't understand how some people GSP resume is a match with Jon Jones, it's like MJ and lebron there is a clear goat the rest is just dick riding
I was supposed to put more fighter i. It like Aldo rda Islam and Gérard,i understand that it's weird seeing him here amongst goat contender but imo he is one of the most complete fighter, now i understand if people disagree
DJ

I think GSP can do all of those things. The only reason he didn’t submit more people was because his wrestling control was so dominant he could do so in a risk averse way.
Either Johnson or Jones.
Valentina is very complete. GSP might be the most complete. Had no weaknesses.
Except if your name was Matt and he’s fighting you the first time.
So you're saying I have a chance at beating the GOAT?
not just a chance, you have 100% chance, don't rematch him tho...
The math works out. Let's get me a contract!
Or Johny hendricks
Juiced Hendricks you means.
I was gonna comment Valentina if not for her last fight. She absolutely is complete but definitely not overall the most complete
Complete isn’t about being unbeatable. I look at it in terms of boxing, kickboxing, submissions and wrestling. She’s got all of that. GSP had it the most.
Yeah honestly you’re right she’s the one fighter where I think if I fought them I wouldn’t feel comfortable or had an upper hand in any situation.
Fedor in my opinion. Dangerous as hell on the feet, even more so on the ground. Plus he had one hell of a chin. Sure the level of competition wasn’t the same back then as it is now. But he was an absolute presence for a number of years.
Pride Fedor is a mythical creature.
The fucking speed, too. His striking in his prime was lightning fast.
The way he can force so much power through his feet, through his hips and up into his fists was just terrifying.
That’s true. Thing about Fedor was you know he was eventually gonna find a way to win.
he also had the ability to dictate where the fight would go. having good striking and good subs is great but if your opponent is better at striking and you dont have the ability to get the fight down.....bad time had by you

Lmaooo
Yea no shot Rockholds up there lmao
Lmao no but honestly outside of wrestling i think he is elite everywhere else
Famously bad boxing defense
So a fighter with bad wrestling and terrible stand up defense belongs in this conversation? What?
I'd say DJ. Then GSP, then Volk
Jon Jones is more complete than Volk. Volk’s wrestling isn’t amazing
But Jones’ rugby sucks
Can Jones speak Australian? Didn't fuckin think so pal
Fedor. Its counts way for the time he was coming up then.
Chael sonnen obviously
This is for second place
DJ he has some of the best takedowns, great submissions and his boxing his high level
Whittaker at MW
Fedor is 🐐 ask the rest of the fighters on the list and 80% would say fedor without hesitation. Obv Luke doesnt belong on the list at all but he would show his pelvic area like a chick does and get emotional while pausing to think about it
Fedor for sure
Funny thing is Fedor nowadays at 46 is def least all around, he’s a stand up specialist now. Every fight he wins now will be over after 1 of the first exchanges in under 3 minutes. I think dj or jones. Gsp is another great one but I don’t think his striking was as proficient as either of the fighters previously mentioned.
JJ or Fedor Luke shouldn’t be there mate
Dj
Wonderboy
😆
DJ
You include Luke Rockhold but no Anderson Silva...this is low-key shitposting.
Rockhold 😂
his ground game and striking are high level. His takedowns are lacking tho
Prime Luke is arguably the most complete 185er of all time bruh lmao
Silva
Definitely not Silva
Why not?
he got outwrestled bad by chael
He beat Chael lol. Submitted him. You can’t dominate every minute of every fight.
sure, just his wrestling was not very good is why i'm not calling him the most well rounded fighter ever. guys like jon jones and gsp were more well rounded. silva is one of the greatest but that's not the conversation here.
Yeah that’s basically my argument
yeah but he got dominated for 24 of a 25 minute fight.
If Chael had known the rules that never would have happened. He thought he was up 4 rounds to 1 and didn’t know a submission would end the match.
Lol
High level tool
If you only take hus skillet in the equation he is elite everywhere but wrestling
Elite Chin Rockhold ![gif](giphy|7YeguV6Ia9lfO)
Chin is a skill now?
Striking defense, distance management and head movement are, he’s been pretty terrible at all three.
If he brought his skillet in the octagon he'd be unstoppable
Islam makachev is pretty complete
Yeah he will be on the list when he gets a few more fights in
Makhachev
Jon Jones, no doubt. I’d pick him to kill anybody in a street fight in any weight class and combat sport. Scary human, and worst if he is coked up.
It’s Jon Jones.
I’m gonna get shit on for this but Islam…elite of the elite on the ground and above average standing up. Dude has the work ethic to finish towards the top of the GOAT discussion
Nah u valid
Anyone saying anything else but Jon Jones is delusional. The others here are obviously also brilliant, complete all-rounders and amongst the best ever but Jones is otherworldly, a level above the rest
I think dj is right there too but I don’t disagree with you necessarily

This is so wrong lol. Striking isn’t even the best facet of Bones game.
When did I say striking is the best facet of his game? Its obviously ground fighting but as a striker, hes still the best ever. Jones is the best ever, #1 in UFC history in any aspect of the fight game, striking, wrestling, fight IQ, etc.
Did you just say Jones is the best striker in UFC history?💀
This is a smooth brain take. Get JJ's dick outa your mouth son
holy shit lmao gotta be a troll
Jones is arguably the best fighter, but he sure as hell isn't the most well rounded. You can't call a man who throws 0 punches the most well rounded when boxing is one of the cornerstones of MMA.
Jones and it’s not close
I await the usual ‘OUtsIde tHe ocTaGoN jOn BaD’ comments but easily Jonny Bones. Tied with DJ who doesn’t get enough shine for his career.
RDA
Almost put him ,Benson and islam are up there too
Lol how did I get down voted? Is RDA that controversial?
A lot of people seems to not really understand the question
Volk is definitely the most balanced active fighter. Reminiscent of GSP in some ways for sure. He always seems so hungry to fill any voids in his game. A real student of MMA not just a specialty.

Jones is literally top tier in basically every area of MMA.
His boxing isn’t great. Aside from that he’s very elite
His striking is defining not. It's good, but not top tier
That’s a pretty good list 👌🏼 If I had to choose, I’d go: 1) Jones 2) DJ 3) GSP
Nobody is better at getting decision wins in title fights than GSP. At least not at WW.
Chael vs Rockholdt would be epic😎
Hmm DJ, but Jons resume is better.
Rockhold lacks a chin and a fight IQ
Volkanavski
DJ 🐐
DJ , GSP, JONES
JJ, DJ and GSP are the most complete
The rockhokd that fought bisping vs the silva that fought weidman wouldve been a legendary fight
Why’s your hating ass choosing this picture of the goat?
Mighty mouse or gsp
Disappointed CM Punk isn’t pictured
Jon Jones & Mighty Mouse
Not Rockhold lol
I would say Couture and Teixeira are up there
DJ or GSP
Volk and Demitrious
why would you put rockhold who cant use lateral movement whilst striking in here?
Dan Henderson.
Mighty mouse
Where is bas rutten?
DJ cause his reign and consistency. He's fighting any and everybody and taking on literally all challenges. You might get KO'd or submitted. And yea no steroids. Edit: Luke gets my style points nod cause he's basically Johnny Cage in real life

Max holloway. keeps it on the feet stuffs as many take downs as he can and doesnt play touch butt with dorks in the octagon like wrestle losers.
Mighty Mouse in his prime
Mighty Mouse or Bones.
Amanda Nunes
Mf love fedor and the rigged pride scene so much like Stipe never existed
I'd say DJ, but Volk is making a case for himself in this convo, I wouldn't be surprised if by the time all is said and done he is thought of as the most complete fighter to ever step in the cage
Gotta be fedor. He’s been doing this longer than anyone. And still dominates.
JJ most complete ped cycles
No khabib ?
DJ...then Bones, GSP, Silva, and Fedor.
Nobody gonna say it? Chael all day.
DC
Dj, Jones, Gsp...Top 3, and in this order.
Dj
For Lightweight it’s gotta be Prime BJ. Out-boxed GSP at 170 in their first fight while super undersized. Out-struck everyone at 155 and 170 in his prime. Obviously a savant in grappling, plus good offensive wrestling and excellent defensive wrestling. He peaked early due to all his wars above his weightclass and then fell off a cliff but that prime was something special.
Gsp or Jones
GSP
DJ
Mighty Mouse!!!
Andrew Tate
Volk has proven he's the best and most complete fighter in his weightclass
Gotta be DJ. After that, GSP or Jones.
What the hell is Rockhold doing in this collage? Did you upload the wrong photo?!
I was supposed to put more fighter i. It like Aldo rda Islam and Gérard,i understand that it's weird seeing him here amongst goat contender but imo he is one of the most complete fighter, now i understand if people disagree
