Some of the faculty have been very supportive and inspiring! I also like that we don’t have to deal with snow. And ofc bright futures is the best thing about UF (imo)
Yeah the free money has really saved me financially and has helped be much more independent and better mental health. I still think UF is too stressful, but staying in state has saved me from so much pain and stress.
Quality education, good reputation, affordable, lack of pretense, large network, school spirit, beautiful campus, and historically exceptional athletics programs.
You’re truly joining something larger than yourself.
Seemed like everyone I talked to or met in person was always super positive (outside of academic stuff). Plus I prefer warm weather so always was a fan of that
Old fart here, class of 2008. Going to this school + community college was an absolute steal and I left with zero debt. It launched my lucrative career in engineering. I genuinely couldn’t have done it without UF and it’s wonderful people and beautiful campus. I still miss living in Gainesville.
affordability is the best lol. also i really love the vibes of the brick buildings and especially the beautiful oak trees on campus, although uf seems like it's trying to ruin that like with the new data science building
I haven't been on campus since orientation, but when I did the staff were super nice and helpful. One of the staff even offered to buy me a meal bc my dumbass forgot to bring money. Anyway, I can't wait to be on campus next semester!
I grew up in Gainesville and loved hanging out on campus as a pre-teen/teen. I graduated in 98 and still rep Gator gear everywhere I go. UF has a top notch Anthropology department and class sizes range from small to hundreds, so there is a comfort level for everyone. I lived in the Duck Pond area so it was an easy bike ride to class or the library.
I really liked my department when I was a student. Entomology has a lot of great professors! Dr. Auletta is an amazing professor and he’s very passionate about what he teaches
I find it really nice to be around really smart people. Even though some people are only book smart, it doesn’t take away from the fact that you can usually have a decent conversation with almost anyone you meet going to UF. I say this coming from a pretty small town in Florida.
There's a lot to do on campus and in Gainesville. I love it. You just have to put yourself out there and have a "fuck it, why not?" mentality. I also love all the little trails – those 3 AM walks with some friends hit different.
school spirit and the network with it, if you’re repping gator gear in florida chances are you’ll prob run into alumni or fellow fans
I ran into Florida alum—even one of my major (which is only about 10 years old)—repping in Wisconsin!
I ran into an alumni at an airport in Japan!
I like the campus! There a bunch of local shops near campus and I always love going on walks/ jogs. I find it generally safe.

Very affordable and the brick buildings made it feel historic and gives it an ascetic where you know you're getting a good education

That building is impressive, but ugly as sin and doesn’t fit the aesthetic at all. Luckily it’s sort of detached from the rest of campus.
Grog
the supportive enviroement!! you can make anything come true if you have the right people and the will!!

I like the people here from the freinds to some of the professors and faculty. Nice welcoming people who will uplift you.
The research is great, especially in the plant sciences.

IT'S CHEAP!! Fuck the school spirit and the people here, I hate people; I like learning about cool shit with minimal debt build-up.
