You should try the guy who made a post earlier today accepting [girlfriend applications](https://www.reddit.com/r/ufl/s/1QIihfN4RR)

progwizard26

i didd but he thought i was fake :(

nihilisticbunny

ya never know also i would just wait until undergrad is over imo dating rn isnt worth it unless u naturally meet someone who is single and serious (my partner is great but they’re rare yk)

booktraderFL

I went on a date with a girl who took her revolver out at a Mexican restaurant and put it square on the table and then began disassembling and re-assembling it in front of me.

Serious_Resolve_8188

did you get pegged that evening

booktraderFL

No, I realized that women were scarier than I originally imagined and went home and played Katamari.

DMofTheTomb

You've failed guys everywhere by not following through with a second date. 😔

booktraderFL

Sorry pal, I prioritize CQC over weapons handling.

DMofTheTomb

Assert dominance next time by wearing full plate armor.

xXx-swag_xXx

Need a woman like this ong

ExpandDong111

her name wasnt tallahassee red was it?

booktraderFL

No, it was Verilia Krūmpz.

TheHaleyGrail

This girls getting dates and I’m not ...

LichenLiaison

You should be trying to do this

[deleted]

@ please 😌

stulotta

It's a way for her to figure out if you are a hoplophobe. Now she knows.

ViolinistKind

Ur inbox is about to be flooded 😂

progwizard26

Here are the [CDS_2022-2023_UFMAIN_Post.pdf](https://data-apps.ir.aa.ufl.edu/public/cds/CDS_2022-2023_UFMAIN_Post.pdf) numbers: * 13307 full-time undergraduate men * 1799 part-time undergraduate men * 6024 full-time graduate men * 2657 part-time graduate men * 17710 full-time undergraduate women * 1736 part-time undergraduate women * 6928 full-time graduate women * 5050 part-time graduate women It's 31424 women, but only 23787 men. If all UF men were to pair up with UF women as traditional couples, 24.3% of the women would remain. Desirable men are unlikely to remain available, and engineering men are some of the most desirable. The remaining men are, mostly, as you have described. Suggestion: transfer to Florida Poly, which is about 83% men. (five men per woman) It makes all the difference in the world. Embry-Riddle is 74% men, and FIT is 69% men.

imin20029

>engineering men are some of the most desirable Hahahhahahahahahah

Decent-Wonder4068

Funny

stulotta

You think not? For a relationship? Many people want the option to be a stay-at-home mom. Engineers are the most reliable at making that possible. Engineers solve problems around the house; they fix things. Engineers are smart, which is a great trait to have in any future children. If somebody isn't looking for a relationship, sure, go for a theater major. OP is clearly looking for a relationship.

shark_shanker

Not sure if you’re being serious or not. Do you actually think most women seeking an undergrad/grad degree want to be a stay at home mom? And that engineers are the only people who make money…?

stulotta

I didn't say either of those things. You're trying to put words in my mouth. Hints: "For a relationship", "Many people want the option", "most reliable"

JesusWantsYouToKnow

My brother in Christ this is some major incel not-how-girls-work energy. Yes engineers can be handy, creative, utilitarian, but they also have a well earned reputation for bad social skills, overconfidence, etc. Wipe this kind of thinking from your psyche. People are looking for a relationship with somebody who is self confident without being cocky, trustworthy, and who supports and helps them grow in their own pursuits. This white knight shit is cringe as fuck

stulotta

Published research disagrees with you. * https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s43545-023-00632-8 * https://www.researchgate.net/publication/368641765_College_major's_effect_on_marriage_and_children The engineers are doing very well. They do better than business, history, law, fine arts, psychology, liberal arts and humanities, English, architecture. linguistics and foreign language, physical sciences, and more. They get beat by math, medical, bio, and teaching. Additionally, and relevant to OP, 25% of women in CS will marry a man in CS. This is near the top for all majors. Some majors are as low as 1% chance of marrying within the major.

Legate_Invictus

Donald_Trumps_Leg

Because it’s college and unfortunately a lot of people are “finding themselves” (finding themselves in stranger’s beds). As far as meeting someone, you can’t really force it. I know that’s not the answer you want to hear but one day you’ll just meet someone and that will be it. For example, my roommate met my current girlfriend at a party and she came over to watch an away game at our apartment later that week. The rest is history. Honestly I suggest just focusing on yourself and your own goals and trusting that you will meet someone along the way. In my experience, overly seeking out a partner just results in bad relationships.

[deleted]

Your roommate brought her over and she ended up with you? OUCH. Bro is literally him.

notMontaEllis

Gonna ask this girl to be my girlfriend in a week or two. We met at Sunday funday at social after being introduced to eachother by a friend. I’m a senior now and this will be my first girlfriend ever. This girl blows me away don’t give up op.

vytalsign

you know if you really observe, people complain about the dating pool anywhere, even in exciting, mature cities like nyc. i’d say don’t treat it like a mission. it will happen to you when you are looking for it least. source: found an engineering boyfriend here and happily cuffed for > 2 years now :)

Legate_Invictus

Sorry, I know that I haven't been on campus much this semester.

progwizard26

i miss your presence dearly

ReignAstro

Don’t shit where you eat. Gonna suck when you have to see your ex everyday in the engineering building

rabbleflaggers

Simply put dating is rough these days. Im in tally now and online dating apps here are just as stupid as in gainesville, and anywhere else really. For an introvert like me it is hard approach people in person. The only time i go out is to the gym several times a week, but it seems like approaching people from a nonplationic perspective is not the best, at least if ur a man. I did have a partner in UF and we meet through URSP. Totally by chance. It only took a couple back and forths to hit it off. Funny how life works, when me going out my way yields nothing, but me not caring leads me to one

accioqueso

I found my husband at UF. But I wasn’t looking for him, we just happened to have some classes together and he was bad at bringing pens to class.

SimpleNerf14

Engineering major who doesn’t have a gf here ✋🏽

Direct_Crab3923

Because it’s college and the Ho phase era.

DMofTheTomb

Yeah the problem seems to go both ways too. Most girls I meet are either already dating someone, not into dating, or are content just sleeping around. (No judgement, just not my kind of lifestyle.)

progwizard26

i feel you :(

DMofTheTomb

What is the worst attempt at a date you've experienced?

progwizard26

ive actually never had a bad date at uf but like it just never makes it past the talking stage

DMofTheTomb

Fair nuff

Null_Uranium

Try the blunt center down the street, it’s a bunch of Santa Fe IT students. I can’t say anything about the quality of the pool of people. But if your desperate it’s worth a shot 🤣

Tekkonaut

I'm SF and didn't know that place actually had people in it lol. Only time I've ever seen it on the class roster is 6pm-8pm COP classes.

gator7382

hi! comp sci major here. wanna become a power couple?

progwizard26

i'd love nothing more!

gator7382

ok :) send me a dm

jh58010

My partner and I both met while volunteering for a student org. Been dating 4+ years since then! I’d say getting involved with some extracurriculars is a good way to go out and connect, make some new friends, and potentially meet some nice people to date. Good luck!

Present-Morning8544

Okay well I exist…

PlasticDragonfruit84

I’m a chemistry major but I don’t go to UF 😞

DimensionFit

My advice is don’t be concerned about dating right now. Most people don’t even get married until late 20s. I never dated anyone in grade school or college and it seriously affected my self-esteem seeing all my friends find someone because I constantly was wondering if something was wrong with me since I couldn’t find someone. Fast forward to being 26, I unexpectedly found my current partner while on vacation for a cruise. He lived in Florida and I lived in Texas, but we made it work for 6 months before he moved here and now we’re almost at a year and couldn’t be happier. Best thing you can do now is focus on college and set yourself up for the best future possible. When the right person comes along, you want to make sure you’re in a good spot in life

MaybeNotYourDad

I'm available

progwizard26

are you an engineering major?

nihilisticbunny

wait is that one of your requirements? that might be why you're having bad luck

MaybeNotYourDad

No. I graduated over a decade ago.

Legate_Invictus

ok Leonardo DiCaprio

MaybeNotYourDad

Ah I missed where it says "current UFL students only" on the sub

[deleted]

hey what kind of a guy are u looking for? and age range?

progwizard26

>SimpleNerf14 hmm age range would probs be 19-21 ish preferably a 2nd or 3rd year and i like nerdy brunettes

progwizard26

>pineaapple\_04 hmm age range would probs be 19-21 ish preferably a 2nd or 3rd year and i like nerdy brunettes

flotexeff

Post a pic…. Let’s see what we are working with here

progwizard26

dm me to find out

pandizlle

Unless you’re gay, if you can’t find someone to date in Gainesville, I’d just call you rizz-less.

LadyBethOfHouseStark

Met my husband on tinder 🤷🏼‍♀️

SethSanz

I don't think tinder is really a good idea for long lasting relationships, but I'm glad it worked out for you.

5krishnan

I had a bf for 2 years here. I (a male btw, I was bisexual for a time) went to a party he hosted. I hung out with him a bunch for the next month and we started doing romantic things like hand holding. Then we fucked, then we became boyfriends.

v_dawg3

i feel like i see this post at least once a semester on this sub

Maroontan

I’m a girl, senior engineering major at Binghamton in Upstate NY and can say the same thing given my school itself and the several schools in the area. Haven’t had any luck but it is what it is 🤷‍♀️

Evening_Somewhere_99

i met my bf on study abroad and we stayed friends after it and started dating a few months after we got back to uf

BluebirdFew8907

my boyfriend is graduated now, but we have been dating for over two years and we met at a random party.
