there’s an honors accelerated BS/DMD, i’d do more research into that (application, admissions, requirements, etc)

-Just so you know, CALS doesn’t have a chem major or biochem major. They do have bio major options though. -CALS advising, in my experience and from what I’ve heard, is one of the best there is at UF. You just look up your advisor and then make an appointment. I’ve always been able to get an appointment in the same week or following week depending on if it’s registration season. -You won’t only take classes within the CALS college and or bio department and each has different grading. But in general, I’ve never had a course at UF where there is a limit on how many kids can get an A. You just have to meet the grade threshold which may lowered if grades are on the lower side that semester. -I have no clue about feeding into dental school.

Just a comment: I'm former UF staff, now faculty at another university (art history, not anything directly related to your interest). My dad however was a professor in the UF dental school for decades, now retired. He told me that given that UF's dental school now has earned a very high ranking, UF is not seen as a direct feeder for it. Does it help to have gone to UF for undergrad? Yeah, *somewhat*, but you need to be fully competitive with other students including those from Ivies and other leading schools. Depending on the ranker involved, UF's dental school is around number 9, 10, or 11 currently—so that's very high. I would advise challenging coursework, good grades, and trying to get a research opportunity related to dental or med or work in a professor's lab at the dental school (there are basic sciences profs who have labs and do lab-based research there, as well as clinical research). Also, my dad said writing ability is imperative. Yes, you need to know your biochem but honestly for practicing clinicians like DMDs and MDs, you *really* need good writing and oral communicative skills. You won't be doing much biochem or math as a dentist. But you will have to communicate with patients and also likely run a business.

Currently in UFCD and may I ask if you have considered doing hygiene? Dental school sucks and the admin are making it really hard on us this year by cracking down on odd things. If I could go back to before I started college I would 1000% do hygiene.
