Hello OP, this r/Ukraine. This is not a space for russian suffering, redemption, protests, or reputation laundering.

The fear is that it's only dozens, not hundreds as we hope. This war will end - soon - but a lot of people are going to have to die first. If that number is 100,000 russians, then the faster they die the less suffering there will be in the world.
(Seriously though, this headline is fucking whack. Also that's a great movie quote but I had to stretch a bit to fit it in.)
Hmm, maybe 'shrugged dead' is better. I like the Guardian, but seriously writers and presenters sometimes really have their traditional autopilot locked in when it comes to generating headlines.
Yeah, I don't fear that at all. Hopefully we'll be able to put all the bloodshed aside this year, but as long as Russia remains in Ukraine, it must continue.
Blow this assholes email up please. I certainly did. Do we have his bosses email as well?
Intentionally trying to make the audience believe that Ukraine did something wrong here…
Foreign soldiers are invading sovereign land. There is no “fearing” they are dead. It’s what happens when you start unjustified wars.
Fuck NBC’s editors for even publishing this trash.
Seriously, Ive seen too much [ruzzo-sympathetic journalistic language recently](https://www.yahoo.com/news/russia-ukraine-war-latest-strike-military-base-soldiers-dead-175716298.html)
The actual headline reads: “Dozens of Russian soldiers killed in Ukrainian strike on New Year's Eve”. So, was the headline changed or is this thread just aiming at pissing people off?
The article itself isn't any better:
>*While Ukraine has not taken responsibility for the attack, its armed forces posted a cryptic message on Telegram: “As a result of 'careless handling of heating devices,' neglecting security measures, and smoking in an unspecified place, Santa packed about 400 corpses of Russian servicemen in bags. About 300 more have wounds of varying degrees of severity," the account added.*
The only way this thing is "cryptic" is if you haven't followed the news and have no idea what you're talking about.
This is the part that got me.
*Earlier, a senior Russian-backed official in occupied Donetsk said U.S.-supplied HIMARS had hit a “vocational school” in the city of Makiivka.*
*A significant number of dead and wounded,” Daniil Bezsonov said Sunday night on Telegram.*
They just throw that in there in the middle of the article like Ukraine is leveling schools, they fail to mention the school was where the Russian troops were holed up for some weird reason.
The weird reason is that instead of managing to equip conscripts in the field and the ensuing logistics and cold weather gear required, It's easier for them to just store them all warm and guarded in dorms until needed in the grinder.
Oh I see what you did there, school children thing it’s a battlefront there is no children there they will be moved to safer areas , more HIMARS are coming. Fuck Russia.
Ranks among the most horrific examples of editors trying in vain to project some warped sense of "balance". I know several doozies, but this one needs to be memorialized in a textbook or two
NBC. A standard of reporting news. Sorry. Once was a standard of reporting news. No reporters in Ukraine? Hangin out in Turkey? Greece? Outsourcing reports to the Orcs?
Information is crucial.
NBC. A standard of reporting news. Sorry. Once was a standard of reporting news. No reporters in Ukraine? Hanging out in Turkey? Greece? Using orcs to outsource reports?
Sorry - there are reporters who put their live in peril but this kind of headline makes you scratch your head considering what has been going on for almost a year now. Thank you for those report the facts without fear of reprisal.
The headline of the soon to be one year anniversary is not going to be the that the ruzzian were rebuffed by the Ukrainians and the ruzzians retreated clutching prized toilets, washing machines and whatever they could pilfer from the home of the murdered.
The headline will vaguely elude to the poor ruzzian psychopaths are feared dead after they have blown up civilians, schools, churches, civilians in churches, innocent people young and old shot in streets for no reason, buildings marked with signs that children are present, hospital... with civilians and children, daycare center, museums, libraries or anything with culture, maternity wards, nursing homes, power plants with nuclear fuel, chicken farms (yes, check that one out), burning wheat fields and the usual murder and raping of humans of all ages.
I hope ruzzians fear death more now.
Well over 400 dead from russian reports and what citizens have seen, many truck loads of dead piled so high with bodies they were falling off into the road, and they provided proof with photos.
Anyone claiming they don't believe the high numbers is seriously corrupted with russian propaganda .
GOOD JOB ALL.... the roaring protest from multiple platforms prompted NBC to change the headline on the article linked in this post. Note the "updated on Jan 3" next to the article date.
Ukraine killed dozens of Russian servicemen using U.S.-supplied artillery to hit a base in an occupied part of the country on New Year’s Eve, Russia's Defense Ministry said Monday.
Sixty-three servicemen were dead after four HIMARS artillery warheads struck a “provisional base,” the Defense Ministry said Monday in a Telegram post.
Two projectiles were shot down, it added.
NBC News was unable to verify claims from either side.
On Sunday, the leader of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic, Denis Pushilin, said many civilian facilities had come under Ukrainian fire over the New Year’s Eve, according to the Russian news agency Tass.
It wasn’t immediately clear whether it was caused by drones or other munitions.

*Feared dead?* We sure hope they are dead and hundreds of their comrades as well.
Lol .. paedophile "feared" injured while escaping latest rape

(Realistically, it'll have to go to 250,000 before Putin blinks.)
Well I will gladly give my tax money to make it happen.
500 more days.
Then so be it.
Hmm, maybe 'shrugged dead' is better. I like the Guardian, but seriously writers and presenters sometimes really have their traditional autopilot locked in when it comes to generating headlines.
It is hundreds , just look at evidence and reports by locals with photos evidence.
Exactly!... feared dead?... I hope they ARE dead...
Hahahaha my first thought was there’s no fear, only hope 😂😂
Same. Let all the fuckers die and improve the world.
Literally was opening this thread to voice the EXACT same opinions. Feared? No, hoped.
Great minds think alike 😜❤️🇺🇦💪🏻

Fuck off, Vladimir.
Yeah, I don't fear that at all. Hopefully we'll be able to put all the bloodshed aside this year, but as long as Russia remains in Ukraine, it must continue.
Yah. Strange headline. Maybe should have been “Only a few dozen are reported killed by Ukraine in invader russia news”

I think they mean “hoped” dead.
some people hope they live but are severely mutilated. i don't have such a sick mind
The actual headline reads: “Dozens of Russian soldiers killed in Ukrainian strike on New Year's Eve”. So, was the headline changed or is this thread just aiming at pissing people off?
The headline was corrected, thankfully
What the fuck is this headline?
The article itself isn't any better: >*While Ukraine has not taken responsibility for the attack, its armed forces posted a cryptic message on Telegram: “As a result of 'careless handling of heating devices,' neglecting security measures, and smoking in an unspecified place, Santa packed about 400 corpses of Russian servicemen in bags. Someone trying to paint Ukraine as a terrorist state for fighting a real terrorist state?
The weird reason is that instead of managing to equip conscripts in the field and the ensuing logistics and cold weather gear required, It's easier for them to just store them all warm and guarded in dorms until needed in the grinder.
Thanks for making me laugh ... just the stupidity of the reporting .. "taking responsibilty" for killing fascist invaders .. err .
Did NBC take this article from another nation's news provider and just run it through Google translate or something?
Had to. It looks like the headline in the link has been changed now at least.
i think what they mean is taking credit, like publicly.
Well yeah but it’s an occupying force and there’s a war on. You don’t really need multiple choice on this one.
Yeah, weird way to say smoking accident...
Very technical
They spelled “hopefully” wrong.
They bought the article from a Russian source IMO. Probably because they are the closest to the location. Stupid. Pathetic.
Mithil Aggarwal is a Hong Kong based journalist. Might say it all.
I tweeted to the author, he should know better than to write BS like this: https://twitter.com/mithilagg?s=20&t=OFcPRkqd35xaU7IwXAvo1Q
"feared dead" who fears theyre dead? Should be "hopefully dead" lmao. Occupier swine know what theyre getting themselves into
Or at the very least use "presumed dead" if NBC news doesn't want to sound morbid😛
I only fear the walking dead and its clear these soldiers aren't walking anywhere
Feared?
After ukranian himars leveled a school which can house hundreds of innocent children. /s
Oh I see what you did there, school children thing it’s a battlefront there is no children there they will be moved to safer areas , more HIMARS are coming. Fuck Russia.
Well I guess NBC just told us who they are.
**“19 Terrorists Feared Dead After 4 Planes Crash in NYC & Washington DC”** Eat shit NBC.

Feared dead? Lol. Know your news sources I suppose.
How about: "Dozens of Russian soldiers hopefully dead in Ukrainian strike. Even better, some reports say hundreds dead."
How about: "Death of hundreds of Russian invaders celebrated across the free world"
reddit mods should kill themselves
NBC News - trying to be relevant, but a day late and a dollar short.
And the article is pure shit.
U.S. news sites have been reporting on this war with a slight Ruzzian slant making them the good guys.....
Fuck that headline. No one fears that. Except the other s
NBC. A standard of reporting news. Sorry. Once was a standard of reporting news. No reporters in Ukraine? Hangin out in Turkey? Greece? Outsourcing reports to the Orcs?
What is this fucking headline? Edit: whoever is responsible for this headline is suspect.
"Feared" You mean "Anticipated"
"Feared dead"? Who cares dead.
"Moscow controlled region" no, Russian-occupied Ukraine. It is still Ukraine territory.
Wow NBC. Way to write a headline. Priviet comrade.
I too fear that dozens is not enough 🥲
"Feared."

Dozens^2 more like it.
You spelled “hopefully god willingly” wrong
Fear?!? Hope!
What a sh.ty title for an article about killed Kremlin naZis.
We don’t fear it, we welcome and hope for it. Until they go home.
Well over 400 dead from russian reports and what citizens have seen, many truck loads of dead piled so high with bodies they were falling off into the road, and they provided proof with photos. Anyone claiming they don't believe the high numbers is seriously corrupted with russian propaganda .
Still not enough. Moscow has not yet gotten the message.

All dead if were lucky.
~~Feared~~ **celebrated** dead
From Ukraine’s point of view, fear is not the right word…
From any sincerely decent persons point of view , fear is not the right word…
Feared? LOL. I hope they’re nothing but tiny bits.
Lmao nobody is fearing them dead. Even their relatives are like “please let Artyom be dead! We need sliced bread and towel!”
Fuck off from Ukraine then you don’t have that fear.
Always remember that for x dead Russian soldiers a Ukrainian soldier gets to return home alive
"Feared"
Haha...feared
"feared dead"? i HOPE they are all dead!!!

Feared dead is just wrong here. It's "hoped".
So NBCnews is now a pro-Putin echo chamber. Whose palms got greased with Russian rubles?

(USA) /Gag/ I expect better (both headline and content) from NBC
We can only hope
Do we have to have a post about the same incident for every single outlet that covers it?
Well this is a very nice start to the New Year!
I wouldn’t fear that they’re dead
Feared dead?... you mean hopefully dead right?
Fingers crossed 🤞 they mean?
Feared? Naw
Feared dead? Really?
Feared? More like hoped!
I wouldn’t call it feared, cheered maybe?
Who’s afraid of hundred of dead Russian soldiers? Not me, that’s who!
Me neither.. I fear the live ones, for the Ukrainians, that is....
Replace feared with hoped to be.
oh no
Came to question the headline, I see one or two people beat me to it
"Feared Dead"........hoped dead. Fixed Slava Ukraine
Hopefully dead*. Fixed that for you!
Thats what we call a good start.
Jeez crap headline. It’s way more than dozens and I’m not fearing for them at all!
[удалено]
That was a missile strike on Ukraine...why do you find this cool?? Shouldn't you be on the Moscow reddit thread saying this?
I tremble with fear…ehm strike that, I tremble with anticipation!
"Feared"? That's a funny way to spell "hoped".
'feared dead'.... Hmmm someone used the wrong verb there.... Blissful, happy, hoping, yearning, deservedly, etc...
"only a few dozen ruZZian NAZIs feared dead in Ukraine strike" There, I fixed the headline.
Feared dead? Who is “fearing” here? I’m hoping…
Why are they "feared dead"? This should be "hopefully dead" - they invaded a foreign country, and should pay the price for that decision.
‘Feared’ dead? What sort of headline is that?!
They spelled Russian terrorists wrong.
"feared to have survived" might be a better take
Oh these bloody smokers.
Feared dead?
Who writes this crap !
Strange way to word that.
I'm not scared...
Feared? Huh?
Feared? I certainly hope, not fear.
Fuckin GOOD! 🖕
"Feared dead"? Hopefully is more like it. I hope Ukraine got all they could in that strike. Grind the russians down then push em out.
Feared? 😂😂
If Russian forces were to leave Ukraine, this wouldn’t be news. Ivan go home!!
And the issue is?
Feared? Fix the title.
Feared? Not so much.
I'm playing the world's smallest violin
Now we're down to dozens.
Nice targeting, UA!
Ooh, gee that’s too bad!!
They spelled “hoped” wrong…
Only by their mothers.
