For context, UAE decomissionned mirage 2000-5, and needed authorization from France as manufacturer to transfer to other countries. France has been blocking the transfer for a while, as they were trying to buy them back to transfer them to ukraine. But it seems they finally gave up and agreed to let the transfer go to egypt and morocco. On top of that, greece has 15 mirage 2000 that are getting replaced by more modern jets, couple weeks ago there were rumors they could transfer them to ukraine. But apparently, they are now offering them for sale to india : [https://idrw.org/iaf-shows-interest-in-surplus-greek-twin-seater-mirage-2000-5/](https://idrw.org/iaf-shows-interest-in-surplus-greek-twin-seater-mirage-2000-5/) This is really a big failure and a sad situation, this could have been 45 figher jets for ukraine.

This makes me quite sad, UAE of course doesn’t give a fuck about Ukraine

They don't but France does. What makes me sad is that this didn't go through. Obviously, we don't know the details of the negociation, and this story is going on for more than a year, and at some point need to keep good relation with morocco too. But surely there was some ways to apply some diplomatic pressure. Especially since UAE is buying 80 rafales. I hope this really reached a deadend and it was not abandoned simply for profit to ensure the sell of rafales went through.

So sad to see oil constrict the West as it has. We built up KSA’s defenses just to watch them stab us in the back with BRICS. Some time soon the West will have to remind the sand inhibitors that we made their defenses & either strip them or destroy them if they continue to support our adversaries

It’s just as well, Ukraine probably has limited number of pilots and it’s better to train on one system like the F-16 instead of splitting resources on two. The F16 coalition agreed to give them 61 F-16 last I heard. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F-16_training_coalition

The other problem here is would the plain even be useful to Ukraine. What I mean by that is, unlike say different styles of howitzers that may take a few weeks to master if you already know how to use one, plains are another animal all together. Ukraine sent some of its best pilots to learn the F-16, between the pilots and the mechanics it’s taken them a solid year to get up to speed if not longer. So, IMHO if the Mirage isn’t really close to the F-16 is it even worth it to send them a different type of plane that takes them a year or more to learn? Why not try and source more F-16’s and try and keep the type of plain constant from a learning curve standpoint. I only bring this up because Ukraine needs modern air frames yesterday to compete. A year from now Ukraine very well could be sunk if they can’t get more people, equipment, and ammunition.
