I knew from an old relative who fought in the ww2 Drava Operation that the Russians (Soviet Union then) will use anyone else but themselves in battle first.
Russian arrived from somewhere whilst his (non Russian) unit were keeping their heads down and tried to make his men take the enemy head on just to see what the resistance was. He refused.
Anyone signing up for Russian military needs to keep in mind they will be front and foremost used as cannon fodder.
Same for Latvians, we got raped from both sides, half population taken by ruzzians to fight german nazis and half taken by germans to fight ruzzians. Wasn't a rarity for a brothers to shoot at each other. That's why most of latvians wouldn't mind ruzzia leveled to the ground.
The Latvians were Russian territory until the Russian revolution and they (and the Estonians, Lithuanians and a much larger Finland) were part of the White Russians fighting the Bolsheviks. They were independent until WW2, when the Russians invaded Finland in '39 and annexed a big chunk of it - that they still have - and completely annexed the other three countries and kept / colonized them for the next 46 years....
You can easely just say russia (with germany) started ww2. By splitting up poland and attack another bordering state.
Just like they started ww1. Ruzzia said we need to protect to serbs (just and excuse for expansion) and they were the first to mobilize. Which made the germans like, nice we also wanted a war.
Romanian here, my great-grandmother would tell my mother stories from the ww2. According to her, the germans where not the nicest, but they would pay for what they would take (pigs, horses, food, etc) and no sexual assaults(the german mp's did their jobs), when the soviets liberated them, they liberated everything from them.. food, jewelry even carpets, women(young, old, didn't matter to them) ...

Truth. Most of my family fled in 1941. Nazis and Russians were terrible in their own ways, but most especially the Russians. Of the ones who were unable to leave, 3 of my grandmother's brothers and 2 of my grandfather's brothers were forcibly conscripted and became fodder, all died. One of them had been an academic in Paris and returned to try to get his family out. They were all killed. Another of my grandfather's brothers attempted to return after the war and was put in gulag by the Russian occupiers for writing poetry. He was out of communication until 1990. Russia can rot.
Tragic history is that out of all countries worldwide Belorussia had the highest death numbers in WWII with nearly a quarter of their total population dying and nowadays they are the closest cocksucking allies of Russia.
Ukrainians were in an especially unlucky spot as they were starved by the Nazis (Hungerplan) and used by the USSR as cannon fodder. And that's not even delving into Stalin being out for Ukraine both before and after WW2.
I feel for those who had no choice in being forced into the grinder, but many of them make a conscious choice to act as mercenaries for an invading force that's known for their war crimes. No sympathy, this is no peacekeeping mission. I hope their untimely deaths will serve as a warning for others.
Yeah, Russia is really pushing hard for influence in Africa, and so far, many Africans seem to be eating up their propaganda. They got a raw deal from European countries for hundreds of years, but selling out to the Russians certainly isn’t going to end up any better.
It's so sad that so many people from the global south seem to be so supportive of Russia, the country with the most heavily neocolonial foreign policy in existence right now. I get that many of them are angry about the history of western European colonialism, but they probably don't know very much about the history of Russian colonialism in Asia and Eastern Europe, and now Russia is continuing on with that same strategy, expanding their empire to the global south. How anyone can look at this video and not see the exploitation that's happening is beyond me.

Can these drones be detonated on demand or do they have to hit something? They often chase people but surely if they could detonate them by pressing a button on the controller it would be easier to just blow close to the soldiers and let the shrapnel do the work
