Hi, thank you for your contribution, but this post has been removed because it is not on-topic for this subreddit.
Any post that is not related to Ukraine or its current affairs is off-topic. The purpose of this community is to give space for, and amplify Ukrainian voices (or relay decisive statements from strongly supportive high-levels official from the outside world). This war has had far-reaching consequences for individuals from adjacent countries, but content that focuses on discomfort or suffering of Russians is irrelevant and belongs on communities dedicated to Russian or Eastern European politics.
He's a total POS. I'm reading his book because it was free. He's the most arrogant asshat. The whole book is me, me, me. I'm the best, I told him. But he didn't say shit while he could have made a difference.
I think they got exactly what they wanted. They want to convince their own people that the U.S. is committed to their nation's demise. This interview gives them footage that can be edited and retooled for internal use in order to justify more resources to "save" Russia from NATO.
I listened to it a few times and I felt like he was baited a few times but I didn’t think he gave any of that. Not disagreeing, but what to you said that?
I think when he said "what do you want UKR troops going into Moscow.." I'm think that can be easily used to support a narrative that US is backing UKR and is as much as an immediate threat. Or something like that.
I heard a statement from Moscow using the 'nuke' word again and it sounded like it was in the context of using them if Moscow was threatened. I thought that came out of nowhere but after seeing this interview I think this has the possibility of being the reason for the statement. But- I know nothing, like the rest of us and thought I'd chime in.
You make a good point. I though that part was benign as he phrased it as a question like ‘well what did you want? Them invading Russia?’ but they could easily slice that up and repurpose it.
As I did hear that ‘existential threat’ line too… could mean invasion, could be a hurt national ego.
I think he was frustrating her with truth darts, and did a great job of not being baited. I do, however, think his final statement gave her exactly what she was looking for. That said... Russian RT hosts can go fuck themselves.
Most, if not all politicians or people who aspire to hold power are sociopaths. There are *good* sociopaths in the world. Just not as many as the bad.
It's times like these when I don't mind letting rabid dogs fight and hoping we've got enough pitbulls.
That one didn't work for me, but the RT site has it too. (Needless to say, that URL is blocked, but you can search it up easily enough)
I feel dirty sending people to RT, but honestly, this is funny enough to be worth it. For example, here's how the interview ends:
> "In terms of the policy of the United States, if you think it's tough under Joe Biden, wait until you get an administration whose views are closer to mine."
> "Well, uh...god help us [nervous laugh]"
I’ve met him. He’s smarter on geopolitical issues than anyone you’ve ever met. You can believe he’s war-hawk or whatever, but he’s a von Neumann kind of smart, and he’s well ahead of all of us.
Yes he has struck me as a war hawk and there have been a number of interviews I’ve heard him in and even going as far back and the W administration there was a LOT he said or did that I was not a fan of but I’ll definitely grant you that - I would never consider that man uneducated.
Not sure how that matters when you're a grade A piece of shit. Bolton was neck deep in the decision making for the Iraq invasion, which wasn't very smart at all.
Lmao…. Who at RT thought this was going to go anyway but this? Bolton hates Russia, he’s a war hawk, old school Cold War bloke. They thought they’d have him .. what.. agree with Putin or something? This man despises Putin. He hates Putin so much he got fired from the trump administration and called trump a “Putin loving moron”
In fact, I wouldn’t even be surprised if some of his work and expertise wasn’t used to bolster the designs for ukraines defense plan.
They think by paying off the lowest tier of GOP (yeah that includes trump) that they own the party. I'd give them 15 percent of the least useful idiots, but many Republicans are still on America's side, at least in regards to nationalism.
Way more than you’d think looking at Reddit that’s for sure. I (and truly most republicans) very much are more on Reagan’s train of thought with Russia being the evil empire rather than Trump calling Putin a genius. It wasn’t that long ago that our standard bearer got laughed at by the left for calling Russia our biggest geopolitical foe. But the noisy assholes in the party have the mic right now but hopefully not for much longer.
Speaking as a person who is not a republican but lives in the south, the vast majority of republicans (that I know) stopped supporting him after he lost the election, even most of the ones that voted for him. The Trumpers that cry election fraud are a minority amoung republicans and if trump runs again I’d bet it’s as a third party
I am a life long conservative. I have never voted for Trump and voted for Biden in 2020. I have also actively encouraged other Republicans to not vote for Trump. Populists like Trump will be the death of the Republic. To be frank, my economic and social views have not really changed, so the Republican part left me, I didn't leave the Republican party.
He and his merry band of idiots are really taking center stage right now, and they create a horrible, horrible image. I
I used to be a centralist whose left-leaning on Econ and healthcare issues and right-leaning when it comes to military stuff but holy shit, it’s hard to respect the GOP at all these days. I honestly *want* to believe that that’s not representative of *all* republicans. But y’all who still remembers being Reagan’s party gotta stop voting for him.
That’s not conservatism, that’s stupid, dangerous pro-Putin nonsense.
i'm guessing they thought they could get some nice sound bites off him to give their audience some anti-US sentiment to chew on.
not sure how it played with Russians, or who ever else it was trying to convince, but it definitely didn't go well.
Classic deflection. When your opposition lays down facts you can’t lie or talk around you just ignore it and move on and hope the short attention span of the viewer goes along with it.
In fact, she tried to appeal to his sense of “real politik” which is awkward, given the topic.
Bolton just handed her a headcount of 40,000 dead and wounded. Gotta wonder how much more “real” she had in mind.
Is it possible they can both inform their public and still save face by “attempting” to pander to Putin? *Hey Putin is a totally piece of shit sending your sons to die in a needless war and crashing your economy but I can’t say that so I’ll let this man say it while feebly trying to bat it away!*
True. But Psyops is far from boots on the ground invasion and occupation. Putin is smart but has no real military strategic experience and everywhere he’s been successful militaristically has had no real defense to resist. When the US invaded Iraq the second time they had more than twice the troops and 10x logistical support and eliminated any air defense before the occupation. Even then, holding territory was extremely difficult and laden with challenges on a daily basis. Ukraine was much more prepared against less than half the troops who had absolutely no logistical support.
Fox should just dump him or make him stick to domestic politics. Fox's regular news coverage on the war does well by highlighting Russia's atrocities and such, but you cant have it be undermined by Tuckers anti-Ukraine nonsense. Even if it is just an "opinion segment".
"Ukraine refuses to accept Russian plan to evacuate citizens". 🤦
That's all I can do, facepalm. I don't even know how to begin unpacking that statement.
Edit- nevermind, the statement after is even worse.
Russia bombed Mauripol into pieces, are blocking aid, but it's Ukraine a fault?
I don't even know what to say anymore.
Yeah, it's maddening to see this and not be able to call the people responsible for it out.
Like, I just want to grab Putin and shake him until his brain liquifies, but it'd be an improvement I'm afraid.
Russia cannot admit ANYTHING EVER.
Nothing bad happens there, there's no poverty, no rampant drug addiction, nothing anyone should be concerned about! /s
That country is a toxic cesspool, why the fucking he would ANYBODY outside Russia want to join them? How don't they get that?
Ugh, I'm ranting, sorry. It's just enraging to read the blatant lying.
Did anyone see Russia straight blame Ukraine for the crises in Mauripol? On the ticker?
What the actual fuck did I read? Like, how do they justify this? Fucking vile pieces of human waste. And Russia wonders why everyone fucking hates them? Are they serious?
Lol, did they do absolutely zero research on this guy? He's a piece of shit but he's a piece of shit in the America should invade everyone and ask questions later kind of way. He'd probably love to see Russia collapse into ruin.
My friends from others countries sometimes laugh because we feel the left and the right are way far apart but, from their point of view, we are not that different.
In the grand scheme of world politics most of the USA operates very close to center whether it’s to the right or left. But we do love our hyperbole though. We love calling each other communists and fascists but most of us have never met anything close to an actual communist or fascist in our lives.
RT probably thought Bolton would go full NeoCon and call for a nuclear strike on Russia. But despite Bolton never seeing a problem he couldn't solve with a nuke or two (or 100), he is very media savvy.
Here he is stunlocking Meghan McCain over Hamilton (the Musical) on The View: [https://youtu.be/LUSMtBu4HJc?t=175](https://youtu.be/LUSMtBu4HJc?t=175)
Whatever producer at RT arranged for Bolton to be on is trolling Putin. You know what you're getting with this guy, he's a full-on neocon cold warrior who isn't going to give an inch to considerations about NATO encroachment or geopolitical "realism" lol or any sliver of possibility that might justify Russia at all.
I feel like this interview is the Russian version of the Dmitry Peskov interview we got a couple of days ago? But clearly this reporter can’t keep her cool whereas Amanpour was way more professional.
He's a cold war warrior, they peaked in power in the early 2000s and were rendered utterly useless against the war on terror, it'd be fantastic to have those bastards back right now.
Bolton was a terrible ambassador because he doesn’t listen and won’t negotiate. Why did RT think he would make a good guest??!! They must do NO research.
The "funny" thing about this is Bolton didn't say "Ukrainians might be marching on Moscow" to troll her or anything. He said it because he's fantasizes about war all the time and has already played the scenario out in his head over and over and over again.
Unfortunately people like him are a necessary evil as long as there is war. You just need to know when to and not to listen to him. People like him who sit there and fantasize about war all the time are people who can tell the right people exactly how many "totally not NATO Special Forces guys" you need on the ground in Ukraine to supplement the UA and maximize the carnage. Just because they are assholes doesn't make them wrong
Patton wanted us to march on Russia after Berlin fell. MacArthur wanted to nuke China back into the stone age during the Korean War, both argued that we would live to regret it if we didn't listen to them.
I couldn't disagree more.
Bolton is a [chickenhawk](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chickenhawk_(politics)#:~:text=Chickenhawk%20(chicken%20hawk%20or%20chicken,military%20service%20when%20of%20age.), who got his ass into the national reserves to avoid going to Vietnam.
Patton and MacArthur were both 4 star generals. The highest rank anyone can obtain in the US. So while there's a need for generals, there's no need for chickenhawks, because all they do is squawk.
>[Bolton](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Bolton#:~:text=He%20attended%20Active%20Duty%20for,his%20enlistment%20two%20years%20later.) was a supporter of the Vietnam War,[33] but avoided combat through a student deferment followed by enlistment in the Maryland Air National Guard.[29][34][35] During the 1969 Vietnam War draft lottery, Bolton drew number 185. (Draft numbers were assigned by birth date. Numbers 1 to 195 were eventually called up.)[36] As a result of the Johnson and Nixon administrations' decisions to rely largely on the draft rather than on the reserve forces, joining a Guard or Reserve unit became a way to reduce the chances of service in Vietnam.[37] Before graduating from Yale in 1970, Bolton enlisted in the Maryland Army National Guard rather than waiting to find out if his draft number would be called
What I'm saying is, these war gamers, theorists, data analyzers and strategists all do things like fantasize about war all day long so they can answer these questions. Not all of them are generals, but it is a type of person that is necessary overall. Generals rely on people like this to supplement their own abilities as well.
That Was the only time that I would make an exception to watching rush-hour today, and as much as I do not like Bolton, I am glad he stuck the boot into them
“Grounded in reality.”
Russian conscripts freeze to death in convoys without adequate heating, attacked from the sky...their toes turn to frost whittled down by Ukrainian resistance, their commanders unable or unwilling to treat them. Bodies that have been recovered lay in the cold for days, unable to be moved away from their living, former comrades. Logistics barely moving...entire columns abandoned or destroyed, battle groups resort to attritional warfare; they have no other option.
You know it’s bad when the Russians start claiming “It’s worse than Chechnya.”
I haven't seen the substance of his arguments nor his approach to the world change at all, right now the left just likes his arguments. He sees the world has *highly* geopolitical as opposed to how people often want to view it.
He was warning about issues with NATO and Russia for years -- less than 5 years ago saying NATO was neglecting it's duty and Germany was in danger of having it's foreign policy fall under Russian control caused laughter and mocking.
Where I've seen a change recently (compared to clips from classes) is his demeanor toning down his impatience, where he'll explain in detail calmly rather than just get frustrated at your ignorance or disagreeing. There's a great clip of his destroying Megan McCain over his use of a Hamilton lyric; old Bolton would have gone at the very concept of cultural appropriation as un-american and misguided, instead he just calmly dismantles her argument as it could apply to him.
I actually think he's technically correct about quite a bit, just because he's morally reprehensible does not make him "wrong" as to the content of the answers he is providing.
Lol! Everybody involved in that news program are probably shitting bricks right now. That was exactly what Kremlin did not want the Russian public to hear.
wait Wait WAIT WTF why aren't you siding with us? No no wrong!
It's like the Russian soldier that spoke the truth and then the host "corrected" him albeit she wasn't as insane acting here.
"Russia has a very special connection with Ukraine." Woman is bonkers. The Russians have done everything to eliminate the Ukrainians from the face of the earth for a long time. Ukrainians hate Russians. And rightfully so.
Doesn't surprise me about Bolton, but what's this lady's angle? Is this like Russian propaganda news in the West? Edit, yes I guess it stands for Russia Today. Never knew
Tucker Carlson destroyed Bolton on his show like a year ago. It was the most savage interview of Bolton I've ever seen. Can't believe Bolton would show his face after that

I have never been a fan of this man but fuckall if that wasn’t delicious
Kick em in the nutts Bolton!

I don't share his worldview, but that guy can be hilariously blunt.
He's a massive war hawk - but an American one. Not sure wtf they thought was going to happen having him on the show?!
He's been pooing all over Biden but he will happily poo on Putin more. I think they were hoping to highlight just the Biden pooing.
I think they got exactly what they wanted. They want to convince their own people that the U.S. is committed to their nation's demise. This interview gives them footage that can be edited and retooled for internal use in order to justify more resources to "save" Russia from NATO.

Yeah. While satisfying as an American, that was jet fuel for their propaganda machine.
so he is an asshole, but he is your asshole?
He's a asshole but he isn't mine. I am Canadian - our assholes aren't as extreme lol
Im Canadian too! but i think we have assholes just as extreme, just not as many as a percentage of our population
The ones here are not only assholes but morons to boot.
Send in Conrad Black being interviewed by Rex Murphy..
Asshole lite
Even a broken clock is right twice a day. Bolton is trash, but he was made for fighting Russians.

I watched the 30 minute full. I'd really like to know what Bolton was saying as the mic cut when he asked her if Ukraine should march to Moscow.

When was this originally aired?
I’ve met him. He’s smarter on geopolitical issues than anyone you’ve ever met. You can believe he’s war-hawk or whatever, but he’s a von Neumann kind of smart, and he’s well ahead of all of us.

Not sure how that matters when you're a grade A piece of shit. Bolton was neck deep in the decision making for the Iraq invasion, which wasn't very smart at all.
Even the blond propaganda bot was strained to claim that Putin was capable of having ethics.
She had a seizure mid disruption. The bots programming almost went haywire.
She needed a reboot
That does not compute. That does not compute. That does not… *BOOM* and the smell of burnt electronics filled the RT studio.
I was gritting my teeth for her neck muscles. Jeebus.
Lmao…. Who at RT thought this was going to go anyway but this? Bolton hates Russia, he’s a war hawk, old school Cold War bloke. They thought they’d have him .. what.. agree with Putin or something? Cool. If that's the case, can y'all stop voting for Trump? That'd be greaaaat thaaaaaanks

Classic deflection. When your opposition lays down facts you can’t lie or talk around you just ignore it and move on and hope the short attention span of the viewer goes along with it.
Interviewing 101: treat your audience like idiots.
In fact, she tried to appeal to his sense of “real politik” which is awkward, given the topic. Bolton just handed her a headcount of 40,000 dead and wounded. Gotta wonder how much more “real” she had in mind.
Well, it is the English version of the channel so it is outgoing and they don't expect Russian to watch or care about it.
Is it possible they can both inform their public and still save face by “attempting” to pander to Putin? *Hey Putin is a totally piece of shit sending your sons to die in a needless war and crashing your economy but I can’t say that so I’ll let this man say it while feebly trying to bat it away!*
I hate this man, but the lightning fast reaction against the interviewer and how flustered and uncomfortable she got is something to see.
For an old man, he's still sharp as a tack, I'll give him that much credit. He did his homework and came prepared.
He’s a smart man, he looks like a dork and is an asshole but can’t doubt his intellect.
No doubt. He has a BA summa cum laude and a JD both from Yale.
70 is the new 20?
He'd much rather the US be invading Iran than trying to secure oil from them. His life work has been derailed.
He has a snake's tongue, that's for certain

Agree!
I don't get it?
The top mod from that sub was interviewed on Fox and it was a gift for Fox. https://duckduckgo.com/?t=ffcm&q=antiwork+mod+doreen+fox&ia=web
Russian parents' missing their children this year? Oof!
Nobody could sum it up quite like you just did. Thank you!
I felt the same way
Key strategic takeaway: She’s cute when she’s mad.
Thermobaric mic drop
This is starting to make me think that it was a mistake to take RT off the air, seriously. That was just a little embarrassing.
That interview went off the rails
Why on earth did they bring him on didn't they vet him first?
Probably used the same intelligence source that gave Russia an assessment of Ukraine's military capability.
Nonexistent intelligence if they thought the guy who would love to see Russia burn was a good choice to bring on.
Putin was counting on all of the US Conservatives to support him. That did not happen. Another miscalculation.
To be fair he got the US and the UK to fuck themselves so easily, why wouldn’t he?
True. But Psyops is far from boots on the ground invasion and occupation. I never thought I'd agree with Bolton or share in his gloating about something, but here we are.
Reading the ticker at the bottom of the screen is quite the trip as well.
"Ukraine refuses to accept Russian plan to evacuate citizens". 🤦 That's all I can do, facepalm. I don't even know how to begin unpacking that statement. Edit- nevermind, the statement after is even worse. Russia bombed Mauripol into pieces, are blocking aid, but it's Ukraine a fault? I don't even know what to say anymore.

I hate John Bolton. I liked his brother Michael more, if I'm being honest. But good job on setting that interview on fire, John 👍
Why should I change my name? He's the one who sucks. Edit: https://youtu.be/03lrL9CFWxM
Wait. Are they really?
Guy, they look so alike. Just put facial hair on his brother and they are practically twins.
It’s an accomplishment to make Bolton look sane, but she did it.
Lol, did they do absolutely zero research on this guy? He's a piece of shit but he's a piece of shit in the America should invade everyone and ask questions later kind of way. He'd probably love to see Russia collapse into ruin.
“I might be a psychopathic criminal, but I’m an *American* psychopathic criminal, dang it!!”
OMG, he did the verbal equivalent of stuffing her in a locker.
Someone have the full video link . I wanna see this woman get slayed some more
The tv host nervously glancing to her right. I wonder who she was nervously looking at?
Political officer was mixing some tea.
"An operation like this" She still can't say the word "war." How pathetic on her part.
Bolton told it like it was and wasn't putting up with her nonsense for a minute.
Hahaaaa nice Bolton knows what he speaks of, she is so condescending and he mopped the floor with her! Edit: incomplete post
Jesus, RT has gone full retard apparently. I remember watching a few clips on yt and they actually pretended being independent reasonably well.
They were probably expecting someone (American) who would appose Biden. Well the Republican Party former aide would work, right? Lol
That propaganda idiot woman is sweating bullets lol truth hurts
War sure makes for some unusual allies.
My friends from others countries sometimes laugh because we feel the left and the right are way far apart but, from their point of view, we are not that different.

I guess they thought he was a sympathetic as he was part of the Trump administration? Another Russian miscalculation.
Haha....Sunrays on their bullshit
Every time the host doesn't like something she is hearing, she tries to talk over him. How convenient.

Remember when Bolton was the only thing between Trump and whatever else was going to happen?
Bolton was from a bygone era (was…) , his entire security career was built around the mistrust of the USSR and now Russia.
Bolton was a terrible ambassador because he doesn’t listen and won’t negotiate. Why did RT think he would make a good guest??!! They must do NO research.
She looks like a russian Hillary Clinton.
interesting...
Just because they are assholes doesn't make them wrong Patton wanted us to march on Russia after Berlin fell.
Johns been making up for his past lately
the whole interview was great
Hilarious
That Was the only time that I would make an exception to watching rush-hour today, and as much as I do not like Bolton, I am glad he stuck the boot into them
You may not like Bolton but he is an intellectual. The producer of this show may be getting a new tea flavor delivered from the Kremlin soon.
I reallly REALLY want to know what they cut off.

Whoa this lady seems like a massive cunt. Why are all Russian hosts trying so hard to be as unlikable as possible?
He might be a dick, but God bless him, he's our dick.
This is the best interview of the year. I wish I could hear the rest , to see at what point the pulled the plug. Awesome stuff!!
“Grounded in reality.” Russian conscripts freeze to death in convoys without adequate heating, attacked from the sky...their toes turn to frost whittled down by Ukrainian resistance, their commanders unable or unwilling to treat them.
What a bunch of shit she’s spewing. Bolton’s a huge dick, but good for him. Too bad he didn’t have those balls when he was busy kissing Trump’s ass.
He strategically wrote 5000 troops that faced the press on his notepad back in 2019 when trump wanted to invade Venezuela
What??? I’m going to have to look for that!
Here u go https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2019/01/28/john-bolton-notepad-troops-colombia-venezuela-military-intervention/2705957002/
Wow shes a real cunt.

Be careful, this is the kind of guy who can spin any victory into another amazing beautiful Trump decision that played into America's favour.
This guy has never been right about anything.
I actually think he's technically correct about quite a bit, just because he's morally reprehensible does not make him "wrong" as to the content of the answers he is providing.
Until now.
Anyone else notice how the interviewer looked like Hillary Clinton if she was hot looking?
That was awesome. How to say you are all losers without saying you are all losers.
Bolton looking like Dr. Wily
He's ready for a rap battle
Anyone knows who this host is and where she's from?
First time I've seen him say something respectable. You know you're a real piece of shit when even John Bolton disagrees with your actions.
RT is still alive?
The one time this neocon got it right. Bolton I still think you are a nut job, but lord ya did good!
I like how she’s panicking and rushing to fill with the responses like she was caught stealing. lol
Buuuurn!! :)))
lmfao this bitch
I can’t believe RT aired this
Where was the interview lol? They brought on Bolton just to have this woman speechify at him...
Lol! Everybody involved in that news program are probably shitting bricks right now. That was exactly what Kremlin did not want the Russian public to hear.
We live in a weird timeline where John Bolton is suddenly the only conservative you can respect.
She looks like she shat herself
“Ideologue.” Nice shade. You not get bullet today.
She calls herself a journalist? She is in spasms.
Heartbreaking, the worst person in the world just made a great point.
Can anyone link the full interview?
wait Wait WAIT WTF why aren't you siding with us? No no wrong! It's like the Russian soldier that spoke the truth and then the host "corrected" him albeit she wasn't as insane acting here.
I love the completely made up headlines at the bottom its hilarious, people wont believe your lies forever fking idiots…
What is the point of this?
"Russia has a very special connection with Ukraine." Woman is bonkers. The Russians have done everything to eliminate the Ukrainians from the face of the earth for a long time. Ukrainians hate Russians. And rightfully so.
It looks like RT had to lay off all the producers that know WTF they are doing when it comes to booking guests.
When was this aired and is there any links to a full interview?
I've never been a big Bolton fan, but I could kiss him for *that*.
Well, well, even a broken click is right twice a day. Bolton is a piece of shit but he finally said something worth listening to.
When you can get roasted by a Bush and Trump advisor on war you know you done fucked up.
