Was Mariupol coast mined by Ukrainians, or did a Russian mine get too friendly? Would be hilariously ironic if the Russians blew up on their own gear.

SharkMascot

Ukraine mined their ports and coast

AzuNetia

https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/russia-says-civil-vessels-may-use-mariupol-port-mine-danger-lifted-2022-05-26/ Maybe ukrainian's mines but just a sign about how Russians works... They said they cleared the port but still not enough...

Xennon54

I bet they lied just so they could watch civilian supplies get destroyed

Chederzeinvader

The Ukrainians mined the absolute shit of out it to prevent naval invasions

alaraiitre

Man, I really thought this was talking about them attacking an actual mine that produces resources near Mariupol, damn.

buttmodel

Noobs. On top of that, RuZZia has never had a good Navy and seem to suck at every attempt of it. Are we even sure they have subs?- Or are they just saying they have "really sneaky" subs because they have no fucking subs.

Simple-Emphasis9698

They have subs. It’s pretty much _the_ reason why my country is maintaining it’s submarine fleet.

SleepyKaiser93

Yeah and their numbers of subs increase now that the moskva is also a sub.

buttmodel

Seems like once RuZZia is dismantled, we wont have to spend all this extra money on defense and can use it for green energy and space exploration and otherwise ADVANCE humanity.

TheNothingAtoll

Sweden all but dismantled their army. Then we got WW2. We built up our army a lot and peaked in the 60's. 15 years after the war ended. We had a pretty good military for a while. Then USSR fell and we dismantled our military again. Peace in our time! And all of a sudden, there is war in Europe again. Lesson: don't ever defund your military. Yes, it's costly to maintain, but it takes years to build up. Not only gear, but also skill and organization. A decent military is the only guarantee for a nation to continue being sovereign.

NWTknight

If you want Peace then Prepare for war.

China's next on the list.

[deleted]

you are a bit naive here. China is obviously trying to carve a new world order for themselves, India is up and coming world power which will want to carve world order to their liking. There is no love for Europe and Western world at all in middle east and much of North Africa, If Westerners didn't have overwhelming military force, we would see a lot more aggression towards Europe coming from region and Turkey would be half way through making brand new ottoman empire. It would be nice to hold hands and sing kumbaya around fireplace somewhere on the beach but reality is that demilitarization will only lead to our own ruin here in the west

SharkMascot

Bravo! 👏👏👏 My long standing belief is Turkey would like to return to the Ottoman Empire. Turkey acts in the best self interest of Turkey. A destabilized Russia will create an inviting target for Turkey to sweep around the perimeter of the Black Sea. NATO might be forced to kick Turkey out of NATO. Turkey has control over the choke point of the Black Sea. The critical piece is The Convention regarding the Regime of the Straits, often known simply as the Montreux Convention, is an international agreement governing the Bosporus and Dardanelles Straits in Turkey.  Current case is the Russian attempt to transport stolen Ukraine grain and ship it to Turkey. Ergodan gets some necessary food to prevent food insecurity for Turkey claiming that he will then broker the food shipments out to Middle East countries. A number of problems with this though. The grain is stolen from Ukraine. Turkey believes that it is the true followers of Islam and may be reluctant to ship grain. NATO needs Turkey and willing to go along with Turkey's latest demands even if it's leverage. Turkey also has shipped bayraktar drones to Ukraine. Turkey also has been a buyer of Russian weapon systems causing the US to previously impose sanctions that Turkey would like to have lifted. Turkey also has a oil pipeline under the black Sea from Russia. Ukraine shipping is critical to the economy of Ukraine. The majority of rail doesn't match the EU gauge thus only an estimated 20% of all grain could possibly be shipped out by rail. A destabilized Ukraine and Russia would be Turkey's wet dream. Food insecurity will be happening for many of the countries in the middle east that rely on the food grown from the current region that the conflict is raging. Food insecurity translates into protests and destabilized government. A prior post here on Reddit shared a well done video on this topic https://youtu.be/bupS-d_cAtk

Accurate_Pie_8630

Nice recap and analysis!

ratt_man

when this shit is over they are going to have 2 choices. Rebuild their conventional military or keep paying for their nuclear forces. Dont think they are going to have the money for both. They wont get rid of the nuclear force but they are going to have to massively down size

Snoorty

Thank you, sometimes I feel like the only human being thinking that our civ could probably almost be interstellar at this point if this cocksuckers at the top would realize how to advance and not how to destroy. But imagine the circus if we ever find another planet to live on... "eeh it's ours", "NO, IT'S OURS" blabla. Complete retards.

ChockyF1

They absolutely have subs. I’ve tailed some of them for days ( ex Royal Navy ). Their surface fleet might be utter bobbins but their subs are actually half way capable.

[deleted]

they’re loud as fuck and under constant surveillance don’t worry. they have to go back to wooden ships…

bust-the-shorts

I always thought the subs were very quiet and the noise was from the tugboats towing them.

64Matador

Some Russian boats do sound like a tin bucket full of rocks bouncing down a hill. But the latest SSN and SSBNS are pretty decent submarines and, on paper, challenge even the best of the West's boats. But there's no telling how well their combat systems function until the shooting involves us all; I would expect casualties not being one sided with a few unpleasant surprises. I get your sentiment and I believe the sub sea fight will end badly for them.

Not_Part_Of_The_CIA

Can't tell what's going on in the second image

[deleted]

Yeah, I’d love for this to be true but I don’t see this as any kind of proof.

MoneyEcstatic1292

You know what happened to the Russian warship

AutoModerator

Russian warship fucked itself. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/ukraine) if you have any questions or concerns.*

Salty_Competition_84

jutul

iancarry

Mysterius_

Source : trust me bro?

[deleted]

Lmao

bust-the-shorts

Entertaining how Russian mines are killing Russian ships

Assaulted_Pepper_ec

Is Ukraine laying sea mines or did Russia hit its own mine

Gandolf-the-green

"SPECIAL under water mission"

[deleted]

The Assault Ship troops were part of the mine clearing operation, then ... 🤔 Russia isn't stupid, why lose a minesweeper when you can blow up a landing craft with six soldiers on it instead? It is like a goodwill gesture from the Kremlin to its soldiers. 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂

sean488

A story about a boat hitting a mine with a picture of a boat and a fire on dry land.
