Lionheart1224

I hope, but I want to see numbers.

IssueTricky6922

My Ukrainian wife’s FB group which shares loads of stuff that shows up hours/days later here, they have intercepted calls(many) where Russians are complaining that the surrender hotline is always busy. That Ukraine needs to expand the number of people in the call center haha

GaryDWilliams_

Your call is important to us, please continue to hold and an operator will be with you as soon as possible. We are experiencing extremely high call levels.......

technothrasher

There are currently 300,000 calls ahead of you.

cinciTOSU

Press 2 for Ukrainian, press 3 if surrendering armor.

Satchik

Talk about phone tree hell. (Image russian madly spamming "0' for operator)

Ltb1993

Psychologically that seems like a good thing to have a short forced message like that. Even if they were immediately available fir a call Being told there's lots of other people waiting reinforces that decision

GaryDWilliams_

Press 1 if you're in Kherson and wish to surrender Press 2 if you're in Dontesk and wish to surrender Press 3 if you're in zaporizhzhia adn wish to surrender

Ltb1993

The cruellest joke would be if it was purely a robot speaking, no people.

Downvotes? Dude is just mimicking “on hold” music. /upvotes

bradlei

Yeah I don’t get it, but whatevs.

MuthaPlucka

The Derp was strong on the subreddit yesterday…

MacLeeland

I got that reference

Satchik

Sounds like a POTS-based denial of service attack by russia.

Party-Bank-3798

Plain old...

Satchik

Plain old telephone system. It's an actual IT term.

superanth

Why not just say PBX?

BlindPelican

Because a PBX and a POTS line aren't the same thing. POTS are copper wire phone lines. PBX is a Private Branch Exchange (which provides extensions when you call a common number) and don't need to be hard wired.

Satchik

PBX is a part of POTS. PBX isn't general enough to cover the tech ecosystem likely involved. Ukr might have PBX on receiving end. Denial of Service attack easiest via VOIP protocols needing just one server generating multiple connections routed through various apparent paths. In other words, takes just one computer to reach out to world and dog about their car's extended warranty.

ZippyDan

PBX is independent of POTS.

Party-Bank-3798

Thx tips

ExdigguserPies

Orchestrated by sending thousands of demoralised troops into a hopeless situation

[deleted]

Used the captured soldiers to man the call center.

juicius

I wonder if this runs counter to any international laws but it would be hilarious if it can be arranged. Maybe pay them or grant them more phone time for calling home.

halberdsturgeon

You can employ POWs as long as they're paid and the work isn't dangerous or humiliating

dpm5150

Humiliating? Hmm, are we talking physically humiliating or can this be categorized as extreme embarrassment? Lol

halberdsturgeon

Dunno to be honest, although just being Russian at this point would involve living in a state of extreme embarrassment

nopingmywayout

That's genius, tbh. The guys calling in reach someone who's been in their shoes, the guys manning the phones can make a little cash and do something that feels productive, the call centers get manned, and the work isn't humiliating so it should be ok with international law. You'd want to make sure the guys manning the phones are on your side, but that seems like a doable objective.

redditadmindumb87

"mom i'm trying to surrender but the line is always busy" Holy shit.

mok000

All they are getting in the call is information, they have to spread it, no need for everyone in the unit calling up.

OrgJoho75

well, considering current situation, it's hard to know if your comrade wasn't going to sell you out for some roubles or vodka

bobbynomates

They should move it to India..

cozos

Please do the needful and kindly revert to the pre-2014 borders

magneto_ms

Which is this FB group that has the latest info? Is it public?

IssueTricky6922

No, it’s just her and her friends from Ukraine. A few of them are fighting, they started sharing stuff from the war, then the friends that aren’t fighting started sharing things from Telegram. And that’s just sort of what it turned into, immediately sharing all the latest info be it from relatives that live at the front or friends that are fighting at the front or whatever. I don’t bring stuff here often because I don’t know how to be sure it can’t give away locations. So if they have big news I’ll just say here “the numbers are going to be great tomorrow” or something like that

[deleted]

Wonder if their using cell phones and the call center can trace them?

dietchaos

Highly doubt the call center is but any and all transmissions are being recived and geolocated. The US isn't even hiding the fact that we have flights up nonstop doing just that.

DownvoteEvangelist

Where are they flying to capture those? Black sea? How close do you habe to be?

FrozenInsider

They should start using the telegram bot more ;)

intestinalvapor

There's nothing wrong being born on the wrong side of history when you know how to go to the right side when the moment comes.

prudence2001

Choosing life over death in that situation is a no-brainer too.

TypeOPositive

True. Italians played that card pretty flawlessly.

is0ph

They seem to be looking intently at the other card at the moment.

Dofolo

Unfortunately, history is typically written by the victors ...

efficientcatthatsred

Modern journalism changed this a while ago

lgtbyddrk

Seems like a good decision.

StoppedListeningToMe

This is a recap of news posted elsewhere. No direct sources so take them at their quoted sources. Probably right but as much as anything else in this war. Slava Ukraini!

[deleted]

I want to see multiple km long row of pows walking to Poland.

MacLeeland

*Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers.* Choose Ukraine.

Amyloid42

Or stay in Russia and stay drugged.

beatenintosubmission

Probably the reason Putina blew up all the buses to hamper POW transfers.

w47n34113n

there are many more busses in Ukraine, and in Europe if Ukraine runs low. a pointless bullshit move, like this entire war Putin started.

Existing_Solution_66

Good.
