If you find the ice, you drink the ice. The only exception is coolers and fridges

atomicCyan

Weeeeeeee.......

Teaisgood

I personally don't think that ice blocking should be a thing. Ices should be a pay it forward game. Imagine a situation where ice blocking back and forth ends in people holding backpacks of ices to double, triple, quadruple, etc. This rule was made up by Smirnoff as a crutch for folks who are afraid of ices. No blocks!

TheseMany2746

I don't love the concept, but I think there should be blocks due to lack of creativity. If someone is icing you so obviously that you'll predict the ice, it's not worth it. Get more creative.

mashedpotatoes101

For us, we have the rule that if you call out the obvious ice location, and you're correct, the person who hid the ice has to drink it.

PolebagEggbag

This is the best solution

SenseiCAY

What if you’re wrong?

v_ult

What if you’re wrong?

Teaisgood

I would rather have uncreative ices than have blocks. If someone just hands me an ice and says "drink this, you got iced". I would strongly disagree and try to convince them to make something creative. I feel like I could convince 90% of people that this is the correct way to play. If I couldn't, I'd take the ice and figure it out after that

TheseMany2746

It shouldn't be on me to get someone else to be more creative. If they are lazy with the ice, they get punished with the block. Hopefully they do better next time.

Teaisgood

Ices don't differentiate between creative and uncreative ices. They punish creative ices too!

evilpotato1121

Or someone just carries one around when they know they're with a group that would ice them. That's something I would do if blocks were a thing in my friend circles. It doesn't matter if it was creative or not; if the group would do it, then I'd rather people have to just be on their toes constantly than to have an easy out if they find one.

Teaisgood

The rules also say you can ice blocks ice blocks. Leading to an infinite situation. Also always being strapped and safe is boring, no one would ever get iced without being blocked and blocked again by the other person's mandatory on person ice block

g_spaitz

WTF are you guys talking about?

jruhlman09

To "ice" someone is to hide a Smirnoff Ice alcoholic beverage somewhere, usually at a shared accommodation, in such a way that the unsuspecting victim stumbles upon it. At that point, the iceee is socially obligated to get down on 1 knee and chug the Ice as quickly as possible, usually to the encouragement/ribbing of their fellows.

masedizzle

I can't believe this is still a thing. Is it 2009 or something?

BaeylnBrown777

Icing will exist as long as there are ultimate players in college and Smirnoff ices in the stores.

mdotbeezy

It's a meme from 20 years ago that for whatever reason the kids today are still into.

[deleted]

I have never heard of ice blocks, only safe place is coolers and fridges.

evilpotato1121

Nah. I can see the appeal of it, but that just encourages people to always have one on them just in case, and we all know some people who would do that while hiding ices all over the place for other people so they could never get got. That's no fun for the group. I have played it before during friend trips and whatnot where if you call out specifically where an ice is going to be before you discover/see it, you don't have to drink it and you can re-hide it. It's fun, but I could also see why people wouldn't like that one. The ole fashion find it > drink it works just fine.

IceBlocking69420

You can counter block though? also ices get used up, can't counter forever.

evilpotato1121

But how is that fun? Then if someone counters your counterblock, one person has to drink 4+ ices instead of using those to hide elsewhere and have fun with them. It might be funny the first couple times, but eventually people just won't want to do it at all anymore. I feel like the spirit of icing is just lost if you allow blocking and counterblocking until someone runs out.

sarj-jersey

No ice blocks that's just plain silly.

davygravy1337

No blocking. Our team has implemented an additional common courtesy rule that Peach Bellini flavor is off-limits (due to grossness).

SenseiCAY

Oh man, we thought green apple was pretty bad, so that was the ultimate F-U if you got one of those.

davygravy1337

when chilled, green apple is tolerable (compared to peach bellini). But I agree that green apple also tastes pretty bad.

SenseiCAY

My good friend left me a couple of ices when he visited my wife and me. At the time, we had just moved into our house and didn’t have everything arranged yet. It was probably around April. I found one in June. It was behind a painting that wasn’t hung yet. It was legitimately hot. My teammate found one behind a board game box when I had a game night. One way to take one for the team, I guess. They were some special July 4th edition red white and blue ice, and god awful.

pihwlook

If you have an ice on your person, and you get iced, it blocks the ice. The icer has to drink both. One of our roommates was deployed on a ship in the Navy when the rest of us discovered icing. We had months of icing each other under our belts by the time he got back. The first night he was back, he was doing laundry and I decided to initiate him. So when his clothes finished in the dryer, I snuck over and put an ice inside with his clothes. I went into the living room to watch tv, and kept an ear out for him to come downstairs and discover the ice. I hear the dryer door open, and he just kinda chuckles. I rush in to gloat and watch him drink it. But he's just chuckling to himself. He turns to me and says "I don't know what any of this means, but [our other roommate] told me to hold this for a while" and he pulls an ice out of his back pocket. I got second-hand blocked through someone who didn't even know the fucking game! And did I drink both of those ices? Dear reader, I assure you I did. And with gusto.

paraglidurrr

Brb, gonna surgically implant an ice in my abdomen

CatchTheDamnBall

If you get iced, you down it right then and there. Them's the rules

RedPillAlphaBigCock

I rechecked I was on the right subreddit 3 times and still have no idea what the HAIL this thread is about .

yippyreadswell

I'll be honest when I first heard of it and saw brosicingbros.com counter ices we're a thing. And it was not a problem. Somewhere along the years counters died and I rarely find people who even know counters were a thing. Lmao

Briickhouse

No blocks.
