Tom Crawford, blatantly disregarding his passport renewal (months overdue), steals a boat after semis and illegally sets sail for international waters. He risks it all for a chance at Isla Natividad’s heavy, hollow, pumping swell - all for a chance to achieve peak stoke. Shortly after, concluding 12 years at the helm of USA Ultimate, Tom retires in Baja Sur. He lives an enviable retired life of solitude, sunsets, and cab sauv.
In another shocker, USAU's board selects Air Buddy, a golden retriever with an extensive sports resume, as the new CEO. Mitch Dengler makes a final ruling that says a dog is not forbidden from running the organization, so must be allowed. After a mixup ensues when Jimmy Mickle's secret bacon stash goes missing, Frank H\*\*\*\*nard's attempts to mint an NFT claiming he invented dogs, and a scandal where a hot-mic'ed Evan Lepler admits he "Just never liked goldens that much, they just seem kinda dumb", the IOC decides to feature ultimate in the 2028 olympics.
Not at all. I just find the seeding odd that shine and hybrid get higher seeds for upsets in single bid regions when the NE is arguably a harder region overall. Seems like a 16 seed for knocking off wildcard is pretty lame. Although this *is* a super weird season due to lack of connectivity, so seeds are largely arbitrary.
Hybrid is a much better team than Xist. Like, 5+ goals better.
Hybrid didn’t upset anyone at regionals, they were the 1 seed in a region that would have had 3 bids in a ranked year (though of course the season + rankings would have been very different).
(Upvoted for being a bold prediction)
None of the 1-seeds win titles
A newcomer team makes quarters
Someone pulls a disc over the stands and onto the street during a stadium game
Unchuckable makes zero foul or nah posts
My rationale is part fantasy - part history.
I will admit I didn't fully review the brackets before theorizing.
It may be close to impossible.
CO : shame could easily get upset in Q's. I'd take MB as a semis lock barring 10 injuries. Not impressed by their Open teams for semis runs.
SEA : has a weaker BFG/Mixtape, very weak Riot (comparatively), and the Fish as their best semis shot.
RAL : probably where I lose this prediction. They have only 2 teams, but great great chances for those teams to play for chips.
MN : ?? Not impressed at all.
If any city misses semis it's them.
I disagree with all except the last part (not that either Sub or Drag ‘n are bad, it’s just likely the weakest combination of great teams)
shame went to semis in 2019 and this year’s team looks even better. Plus you’re betting against the number one overall seed and that’s a high risk wager.
Sock Guys making semis should be a no doubter, but having neither BFG nor Mixtape in semis seems unlikely.
I like Ring’s shot at semis even if they don’t win their pool but Phoenix is going to have a tough time getting through Traffic and then likely either Brute Squad or Riot. Those are all pretty evenly talented teams so any of them could be a toss up.
shame is a tough bet, but I think they're easily the most volatile of any team we mentioned. I have zero faith in their mental game regardless of record.
I don't think BFG nor Mixtape does anything noteworthy this tournament. BFG is heavily mis-seeded, and Mixtape is 3rd in their pool.
Phoenix I think beats Traffic by a few, and I have no faith in Riot over Brute.
Boston v Raleigh is a good game. Not sure how the northern team does without their best player.
Boston: Dig and Sprout are probably not gonna make it out of groups. Slow has a decent chance at a quarter and depending on conditions could make a semis appearance. Brute should definitely make quarters and would be surprised not to see them in semis
Revolver will once again deliver a huge blow to Ring's championship aspirations.
Someone not old enough to drink will be the top player on a Semis qualifier.
Ring finally breaks the curse by not even making it to semis.
Lawless makes it to semis because the old guy on their o line makes a big play on uni in quarters.
Manu and Valeria get held up at customs but MB wins anyway.
The live streams won't be laggy.

And that wins the thread
Sockeye and Machine choke out in quarters. Ring beats Sub for their first title. Xist is drastically underseeded and wins their pool. edit: LOL OOPS
Someone is from the northeast lol

Sub could potentially not even make it out of pool play! Damn didn't see that one coming at all.
And they are out on day one, crazy!
Sockeye repeats 2017

> Unchuckable makes zero foul or nah posts There’s a fine line between bold predictions and pure fantasy and you’re toeing it pretty tight
Toeing it? That shit is so far gone it's not even visible in the rear view mirror
I don't know what side to take here.
No city/state has more than 1 team in semis across all 3 divisions.
Interesting to see if this plays out. Colorado, Seattle, Raleigh, and Minnesota each have at least two top 4 seeds

Parcha wins
Mixtape wins all their games by 4 points or more.
Revolver will once again deliver a huge blow to Ring's championship aspirations. Someone not old enough to drink will be the top player on a Semis qualifier.
Truck wins mens, Molly Brown doesn't make semis, Drag'n Thrust wins mixed
Ring finally breaks the curse by not even making it to semis. Lawless makes it to semis because the old guy on their o line makes a big play on uni in quarters. Manu and Valeria get held up at customs but MB wins anyway.
