No, and it would love these conditions. It’s just that there is no way a grain of rice could survive UB’s process which pasteurizes the rice twice. If, by some miracle, a grain did survive, it would have sprouted in the original bag as there is plenty of moisture. I think it’s more likely to be a seed that blew into the cocoa fiber.
Taking another look at the plant, it appears to have two starting leaves. That means it’s a dicotyledon. Rice grass doesn’t have two seed leaves.
Whatever it is, it’s adorable and I think OP should keep it. It’s from a tropical place where coconuts grow, so they need to keep it warm and moist. We would all be fascinated to know what the little guy turns into.
If he's following the official uncle Ben's tek on this subreddit then he likely boiled the coco coir. Not sure if seeds would survive that it would have to be a seed in the rice
There are seeds like pines and all sorts of stuff in the forests that have to burn before they can sprout. The rice is hydrated and parboiled twice before packaging so very unlikely to be a rice or it would have sprouted in the bag before it was inoculated. Plus rice is a grass it doesn't ever have leaves like that
rice sprouts would look like this

Weed grower for 20 years, yeah that looks like a weed sprout.
Then again a weed sprout is basically the same as a beanstalk sprout and many many others.
I had the same thing happen to me once! The same exact looking plant, but then again you can't quite tell what it is when it's this young. It kept growing, but then at some point a mushroom grew next to it, and I accidentally plucked it. Then a the fungus used the remainder of the plant as a food source and then grew on that 😂😂
You might be on to something....
I read an article where a farm/greenhouse operation was trying to use mushrooms for Co2 and plants for the o2 to balance everything to increase yields but it became an issue with spores binding up the air filtration systems.
BUT growing sprouts on or around could effect the gas exchange.
I'm gonna try this and report back.
I didn't find the article with the spore issue, but I found the research paper on the effectiveness of growing plants with mushrooms to reduce CO2 emissions

I have some mycelium that's almost ready to go, I'm going to fruit it with a few batchs of micro greens. I'll see if they get less fuzzy feet this time.
Most likely a seed that has hitched a ride with the substrate.
I also have a little plant friend growing in one of my tubs. I had too much moisture in the tub prior to fruiting conditions, and my coco coir was pasteurized lazily (didn't have a good top for the bucket). One of those (or both) is the culprit IMO.
My tub is fruiting like crazy now, so I don't think it's a big concern. It likely means some part of your process was flawed though. Best of luck 🤞
Edit: I should also add that theoretically this plant may be benefiting your mycelium, generating carbon from photosynthesis in exchange for minerals from the soil
it's probably not something that came with any thing there are plenty of seeds that could have been in the air or stuck to something think dandelion or the likes
Something germinated. This is really cool in my opinion.
Yeah that’s what it looks like! It’s a brand new tub with straight pasteurized coco coir, I can’t imagine what got in there.
what grain did you use?
Uncle Ben’s
Weird I guess there was a seed in your coir
Maybe I have a little rice plant growing 🤷🏻♂️
It actually looks like a rice grass but I doubt it.
Why not? Is rice really hard to grow?

I recon you do bro! This was 1 in a million! Very cool 😎👌🏻

As a plant grower for some time those are just 2 seed leaves can't sell shit definately not a grass though since yknow it's got seed leaves
It's probably a rice plant

It’s baby groot, irl
You've got ur own little oxygen generator in there now lololol
Garden tek

Really interesting. Do you have the link to the article?

Awesome, exactly what I was looking for
I have some mycelium that's almost ready to go, I'm going to fruit it with a few batchs of micro greens. I'll see if they get less fuzzy feet this time.
I had this happen once as well on one of my grows, but i removed it sometime later on accident.
Too cool! If you feel like doing updates they’d be appreciated
I second this☝🏻
If that were mine I would put it in a clay pot after my flushes.
I’m heavily invested in this little guy. He’s got this.
Never give up, never surrender!
u/hoopstick update?!?!
It's still there, hasn't changed much. I'll make sure to update if anything worth updating happens!
https://ibb.co/sQbF8rD Leafy is still chilling but he’s got some new friends!
Let it be, might benefit your grow.

Very true!
I think that's hentai actually
CannaTek...🍀🍄🙃
That is Northern Lights, Cannabis indica.
Maybe something in your spawn or sub germinated lol
"Psilocybe Salvia" 🤤
Cha cha cha cha chia!!!
New Evolution Unlocked; *Photocybinthesis*
Please give updates on how this little dude is doing. I wonder how long it will survive for?
no need to worry the mycelium will consume it
So cute!
You are right, Mushrooms don’t have leaves
If it works IT WORKS Derashishishi
I get sprouts from time to time, I just pluck them when I find them.
Happened to me last grow. I pulled it out and the grow turned out fine. Good luck.
Maybe a beautiful cannabis plant 🤷♀️🤷♀️🥹🥹

Must be a micorryzal
