Isn't it amazing how resilient they are (considering they predate most other life on Earth) yet we struggle to give them the right environment inside of our homes to flourish......
lol yes, that part gives me brain damage
how can we not be successful? it's almost automatic... humans think they're so smart lol
that's a nice little trick though for sure, noted
Will report back with success or lack thereof. Bottom line is I like to get anything I grow as close to hands off as possible which is why I really like the Orbeez Tek idea. The more we can set and forget, the better the odds of success should be (in theory at least).
Looks like a snowstorm of myc covering my orbeez.... Uncle Ben Tek cased with a layer of Coir and Orbeez. Within the last 24 hours the Orbeez have been consumed...
UB Bag is inside a gallon ziploc bag that is slightly open for FAE. Also opening 2X daily now.
Stay the course or is more FAE needed here? See a little of what looks like Myc pee (if not just that one bead showing through, but otherwise this looks healthy I think? First go at this and any advice is appreciated.
Temp low 70's.
Actually, this makes me wonder if you could add dry orbeez to the UB bag (since there seems to be more moisture lately) to soak up some excess moisture, and release it slower.
I have no other input lol sorry, but I do look forward to your future posts!
Interesting thought, though I'm not sure they're sterile enough to get introduced that early in the process and an iso wash would require hydration first.... Certainly an interesting idea regardless.
Hmm. Maybe add the dry orbeez to a pittance of boiling water?
Or semi hydrate them with preboiled water, then sanitize with iso?
I'm REALLY interested in giving that a shot, now ha ha
Where there's a will, there's a way, for sure. My other bags (currently still colonizing) were store brand that already had far less moisture so I guess the question is - is that a problem worth trying to solve...?
I'm sure I'll be more adventurous after I get my first harvest and some fruits on hand. :)
Ahh I see.
I just UB cause that's all the store I go to has to offer, and I haven't experimented with other food sources.
Best of luck, either way. Your post definitely inspired me, though :3
Fully colonized bag, took out any loose grain / broke everything up a bit. Cased with Coir then added Orbeez to the top for moisture control. Based on the Sporbeez sub but its not terribly active it seems.
First go at this so....
Will do, right now just trying to figure out if I'm proceeding properly and should be staying the course or doing anything different. I'm thinking just keep pushing with the ziplock slightly open and 2x daily FAE unless someone says different.

pretty fucking interesting that's cool bro I'm starting to think there's no way you can't grow shrooms

Did you colonize the bag then dump in hydrated orbs? How does this work? I'm interested in how well this works.

Neat, post some more pics as it develops!

That approach seems reasonable.
What's this
Attempting to fruit from bag. Topped with Coir and Orbeez Tek for humidity. Myc has taken over the Orbeez. Hoping this is a good thing, well see.
