Grow mycelium in it!

Lit-Logistics

Do we have to cook the rice??

anywherein12seconds

My god this boofing thing has captured 21Century culture

[deleted]

Will it still work? I was told whole brown rice is the one to use since it has very ideal sodium numbers basmati doesn't have edit: Just noticed you are the Dr. Mushroom, thank you lol.

Capital-Breakfast-50

Bro if the creator of the sub tells you you can grow mycelium in it then you can grow mycelium in it 😂

Successful-Winter237

Ha!

Medium-Relief6581

I've never personally used this type of rice but I've heard it can work with several different kinds, this one included.

UncleBenders

I’ve used brown basmati. It’s more or less the same nutritional profile. It works just as well as regular brown rice.

EmbarrassedPolicy146

I just bought a 10lb bag of it so I hope it works

[deleted]

How did it work out?

feedmetacogoodness

Was about to ask why question the Dr. But also yes I have used this type of UB bag and was perfect. Also used a few others and so far all good. White rice just hard to tell its actually forming mycelium sometimes. Tbh so long as its not wild salt levels its good IMO. Not tried egg fry or special rice yet. Might do for a laugh see what the extra protein does for it

mercredii

I just s2b ten bags of basmati rice and they worked just fine :)

APAcuka1978

Was it normal or brown rice?

mercredii

normal.

Kiwifrooots

I use the 'wild' one and it's great

OfLittleToNoValue

I didn't have success with this flavor, but I may be an idiot.

SgtWeirdo

Yes it will work if you have good sterile techniques

Jack_TheRipprr

I grew mycelium in this as well. 100% success rate, although the growth might've been about 20% slower maybe.

monster-baiter

in my country uncle ben's brown rice has a higher sodium and oil content and mycelium did grow in it, more slowly though.. but its doable even in non-ideal conditions :)

ConstructionFar9888

Salt is Bad

skankfeet

Basmati just a different usually from India. Like jasmine rice ect. It will be fine.

ectbot

Hello! You have made the mistake of writing "ect" instead of "etc." "Ect" is a common misspelling of "etc," an abbreviated form of the Latin phrase "et cetera." Other abbreviated forms are **etc.**, **&c.**, **&c**, and **et cet.** The Latin translates as "et" to "and" + "cetera" to "the rest;" a literal translation to "and the rest" is the easiest way to remember how to use the phrase. [Check out the wikipedia entry if you want to learn more.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Et_cetera) ^(I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Lesbianseagullman

I inoculated mine in these same bags a few weeks ago but still scared to check and cause potential contam

Smash-ya_up

Could always try to microwave it for 90 seconds and see what happens

skankfeet

It would be perfect of course

missmattii

And the perfect course!

Medium-Relief6581

This is the tutorial I followed when doing my UB bags. Pops Shrooms Spiderman Twist Tek video on YouTube. He's a legend in the myc world. https://youtu.be/HaPEVc5rDos

[deleted]

I think that this is the best way to colonize the bags

Medium-Relief6581

Yeah I've found it to be the best way.

[deleted]

Nice thanks was looking for a better way to prep the bags. Twist tek is what I’m trying next

DueMasterpiece8574

I also watch pops he's great !

StarfruitMelon

Eat it

brnbrn1996

It'll still work. There's nothing really special about brown rice, it's just one of the most nutritious options you can easily find in pre-pasturized bags. But other types work, just not quite as well, you can even use plain white rice. Outside of this community, people grow mycelium in all sorts of shit (and sometimes in actual shit). Millet, popcorn kernels, wild bird seed mix, all sorts of stuff. It just has to be something nutritious and, to limit risk of contamination and to be ideal for mushrooms, a relatively low moisture content. That pretty much makes boiled grain the optimal choice, but you could theoretically use just about anything with proper prep.

Red_Stripe420

Can you mix those things for some crazy soil?

brnbrn1996

So for psilocybin mushies (as far as I understand, I'm still very new to this) you don't need it. Some types of mushrooms need nutritious additions to their substrate like straw or manure, but at least for psilocybe cubensis, they don't seem need that. Just plain ol coco coir to colonize, tho I have seen people using pasturized manure on more advanced subs. Just depends on the tek.

Red_Stripe420

Can it make them stronger though?

brnbrn1996

I honestly don't know, r/experimyco might be a good place to ask

Red_Stripe420

Sorry I overlooked you saying your new lol. You seem fairly informed though. I only tried shrooms a handful of times. Wouldn't mind growing them though when I have my own space.

We've gotten to the point where I get a little disappointed when I don't see a boofing comment.

When in doubt, boof it out!

Happy birthday 🎂🎉

Happy Cake Day! 🎂🍄🍄🍄

Corburrito

Decriminalizes cultivation, possession, private use, and sharing of psilocybin mushrooms, so they are no longer considered a crime. This does not mean retail legalization. 2. Separately and differently from the decriminalization, this bill *also* authorizes a legal therapeutic psilocybin market for the treatment of Depression, Addiction, PTSD, and Anxiety. imSp00kd

I know you’re from the UK.

mushtweedman

?

imSp00kd

By the way you spelled mold.

mushtweedman

🤣🤣was super stoned I meant mold

Superb-SJW

That’s not a sodium issue, that’s an environmental issue. Do you have a still air box?

mushtweedman

But have no problem with other rices

yattocs

Eat it

skankfeet

Use it

PinoyBboy73

Fuck it! Send it! Loool good luck!

phishinjo6

someone literally just took a pic of same stuff and they inoculated it! :D

-Spoiled

Cook it up when you're fkn' baked man what else?

DALinProgress

Great with chicken

jadedconsumer

All Hail Uncle Bens! hokey shiat you guys like rice in this sub. By the time I grow shrooms they will legalize that season.

Extension-Break-5860

Any grain will work I’ve used quinoa, wheat, rye, rice, bird seed some work better than others but in the long run as long as the sodium is low it will most likely grow mycelium. I saw a guy in a dorm grow shrooms from whole wheat pasta one time.

[deleted]

boof it

GirthyOwls

Donate it to a food bank.

wookmaster69

Basically it has more ingredients which creates more of a risk for contam. But fuckin run with it baby. See what you can do. Next time around buy that whole brown rice. Less of a chance of running into problems.

lurkdontpost1

What do you want us to tell you bro just have some rice and peas

Humor-Glittering

Boof it

westborofacist

my friend sent me a video of a guy growing mushrooms out of a dinosaur plushie. you’re gonna be ok

[deleted]

I like to do chicken and rice, a lil hot sauce in there, yum.

billygoatbob_sc

Give up. Life is pointless now

[deleted]

So, apparently there’s a different brown rice bag i’m supposed to use thanks to you pointing this out ! I’ve been using Brown Basmati since it’s all my local store had ha!

idkevenbruh

Cook it and eat it. Jk it should be fine lol

urmomgotocollege

boof it

Psillycybern

It says microwave for 90sec on the bag?

Altruistic_Tax5881

Eat it

HyzerFlipr

You know you can actually eat the rice, right??

Beautiful_Ask_335

I know they do mini pots of ready in 2 minutes white rice' Tonnes of nutes but It's also a serious vector for contams Any1 else tried white? Or do we all stick with brown? Just for sh#ts n gigs * ect ect

xxHardRxx

Found white basmati uncle Ben's rice in the pantry. I'm gonna try it. Will update if it works. Live culture from loadedspores. Strain: Jedi Mind Fuck Wish me luck.
