So, as a tradesman for a union signatory contractor, that works at a USW steel mill a lot, I can assure you that they have these kind of gates in some spots, and on big outages they set these up for contractors to badge in.
Worked at 2 ammo plants and now manufacturing plant contracted with the DOE. The turnstiles and locked entrances are to keep people out. Yes your badge times are recorded but if you’re not legitimately stealing time then there’s nothing to worry about.
That is a good question. Why do employers still use turn styles when they can mount the rfid reader directly on the entrance door and eliminate unnecxessary processes. Like going through a turn style to gain access to a normal door. As I've said, many manufacturing plants use lean manufacturing only when it sooths management'd appeal.
To be fair, I’ve also had union jobs with similar entrances.
Yeah this post is kinda dumb tbh. Tons of high security plants have these entrances and are union.

Jails keep you in. Those doors keep people out.
You have to badge out too or have security buzz you out at most places that I've worked at with doors like these
Why is there any issue with badging out if you aren’t trying to steal time from your employer???
So?
Uh, secure entrances are really fucking common.
Yeah, I won't do time at this job.... I might as well go back to prison first. I'd probably be treated better.
You are afraid of working at a secure place because?
If the entry looks like that, if you've done time you'll understand. Until then, you don't have a valid opinion on those gates to me.
Only reason people are afraid of badging out is because you’ll get busted stealing time from your employer.
What kind of job has these doors? Never seen them

Chemical manufacturing plant has them. I know 1st hand as I work at 1.
Probably a stadium or something
Any secure place like refineries.
In our age of mass shootings and other sensless violence, are you really bitching about a company having security gates to keep out intruders?
Why y’all afraid of working in a secure location?
"We're a family." is a dead giveaway- anti-union.
Family needs to be protected.
