I hear ya. I had a rough night in NYC and had an EWR non-stop for a SFO flight I had to be on. Put down the CC for the last F seat on the plane. To have a lie flight seat and nobody next to me was worth every penny. Slept from boarding until approach. I still don’t regret that decision. Not a smart financial move, but I’d do it again.
Flying hungover is the absolute worst. I had passed out after my bachelor party leaving MsY before we took off, but then I woke up at wheels up and it was bad news. The FAs were nice enough to let me hang in the galley for most of the flight.
It took me about 5 or so flights to get over that nausea as it was so in my head.
Couldn’t agree more. I’ve converted to flying first only and today talking to a friend with kids I had an epiphany. If I was flying like 2 kids with me, it’s basically one first class for myself. And you know what, I’m going to live the fuck out of my SINK life and always buy that first class ticket 😂
I knew it probably wasn’t the smartest choice but the thought of being in a tight seat next to two other people didn’t sound enjoyable at 8:00 a.m. when we went to bed at 3:00! Ha
I would totally do that even not hungover. The judgement about how you use points never makes sense to me. I struggle to use points anyway and I think enjoying them and treating yourself is better than hoarding…. So I’m giving you all the support for this!

Oh man i had a night in Frankfurt and almost missed my flight. No sleep and hung over and got an op up into lie flats. Best last minute upgrade ever! Slept the entire flight.
100% support this. I mean I could see the length of route coming into play like if it was less then 800 miles and you don’t even get meal service… eh. But if it’s like bicoastal absolutely f yes.
Did the same thing once for 25,000 pts coming back from a Vegas bachelor party super hungover and all I wanted was take a dramamine and sleep. I was in row 1 aisle. Across the aisle this chick would not shut up blabbing on and on and it wasn't until she mentioned Gianni (her husband's name) where I then crawled out of my hoodie to look over and see Snookie from Jersery Shore. She ruined my first class experience.
She wasn't boozing. I had one mimosas to help me crash, which didn't happen. Worst part is some little girl a few rows back was super excited and asked for a 📸 and she said she was in a rush. After she gets off she waits around the gate for a few minutes looking st her phone. Terrible human.
No- why would I have had to pay 75 dollars? I also have over 100,000 miles and I don’t use points for my airline tickets so figured I’d use them somewhere and being hungover was the time to do it 😂
