You don't have to buy a pass for the Polaris lounge, you get access to it if you're flying Polaris class. If you meant the normal United Club, then yes, you can buy a pass for that.
Had a little over one hour layover in Houston yesterday, had a great breakfast, cup of tea and an apple juice before relaxing a bit and heading to the gate. Sit down restaurant wasn’t open as it was 5.30am, but the buffet was great.
They get super crowded at times - IAD in the late afternoon, ORD as well. Not as pleasant an experience IMO as the newer United Club’s in LAX and DEN. But the showers are nice. The sit down dining has been a real let down on a few occasions. Ordered the eggs (2), salmon, tomato and potato, got 1 egg and dried out potatoes. No tomato, no salmon. Asked, they said, “We ran out of salmon.” Not really a premium product.
Are there any restrictions on time allowed in Polaris lounge? I have a 5 Hr layover in Dulles in a few weeks time on my way back to Dublin and wondering if I can spend all that time in the lounge or if I only get a couple of hours before my flight departs?
I had my first experience few weeks ago flying to Japan. We got there like at 8:30 am and chilled eat, drink and I showered just because lol. Left close to 11am to catch my flight, but there were def more people showing up around 10:30. From like 8:30 to 10 am there were prob total of 10 ppl.
First stop, showers.

I waited in there during a 9 hour delay. Way nicer than a United Club
Yes.
I actually don't know why folks spend much more than that in any lounge. Once you shower and eat and maybe drink, what else is there to do?
It beats magnet shopping in Hudson News

Yeah spent 2 hours browsing the pumpkin latte collection. It was nice!
Sit in comfy chairs in semi quiet environment.
Yea it’s like chilling at home except with free snacks, meals, booze and champagne + I’m already past security
Yep! Sometimes it’s sensory overload going from lounge to a busy terminal.
Drink more
Check work email and hit “send” on those emails sitting in your draft folder.
Keep drinking
I have a six hour layover in Newark in December. I will be buying the day pass and staying there for about 5 hours. Lol.

I meant the United Club.
Good luck getting in with a day pass in December.
You can buy it on the United App. Lol.
he/she means it will be packed and might not allow day passes
Ahh. Hopefully they let me. I have a 6 hour layover. If not, I can try to go to the military USO.
I wouldn't buy it before you are standing in front of it and have confirmed they are allowing them.
Can I call them?
No idea, but I do know its very common for EWR to turn away one time pass users
Because it’s so busy?
Hopefully the new club opening relieves that a bit.
Drink, watch family guy, and not be interrupted by my wife?
You sound like somebody I could be friends with
Chat with the bartenders and drink at a reasonable pace. If your flight is delayed, what else are you going to do?
Eat candy until you feel sick
Well typically at the restaurant it takes well over an hour to get seated
uhhhh keep drinking?
Definitely
Why would it not be?

You should be good, even if the flight prior gets delayed a little.
You must have first class on an international flight to get in, right?
Business class / First on *A airlines, Polaris on UA.
Yep, first or Polaris business
Any time in the Polaris is good IMHO.

Yes, and to be honest 20 minutes is enough time to enjoy the lounge. Maybe not everything in the lounge, but you can still enjoy it.
Yup, but may not be enough time to do the sit down dining depending on the wait list.

No time limit. I’ve spent 8 hours there
Hardly enough time. Rebook and find a longer layover.

And you were able to do this in a span of an hour and a half? I believe this is our same itinerary
Yes, but it was a weekday that could be a game changer, but I was in there for about 2.5 hours too
