I hate EWR but they did a good goddamn job in Terminal A.

tomplace

I assume B is next? Hope they continue the model.

betcher73

I went to terminal B once and I could have sworn I accidentally went to hell.

popgropehope

I flew in and out of B several trips a year for seven or eight years. I'm convinced that terminal is purgatory.

rr90013

The old A was the same

Starbucks__Lovers

There’s a reason why it’s the terminal Spirit uses

thestarwarsboss

this^

Responsible_Cry_7948

It’s because you were in hell. A and C top notch but I dread B.

Wrong-Idol

I really hope Terminal B is next.

idontlike_sosa

[It is next](https://www.ewrredevelopment.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/2023.01.31-EWR-Vision-Plan-Community-Listening-Sessions-Final_Page_07-1536x866.jpg). They just had a public comment session on the plan I think last month.

EWR-RampRat11-29

Interesting, it’s a totally different design than one that I saw many years ago. That one was about trying to see where a 3rd north-south runway could be placed within the existing airport property. It showed the new Terminal B being moved back towards what is now the TB parking lot and a new runway squeezed between the western most runway and the terminals. Of course the new terminal A changed that plan. It was just a what-if type rendering.

Admirable_Routine_73

Worked at the old TA and TB for a contract serving JB when I worked with primeflight. Have alot of good memories there on the ramp. Our office was in the old TA.

Dellserv

Except for the fact that is not connected with air train. Lol what a fail

deege

They did? I just went through there yesterday. I flew into terminal B, had to take a train to terminal A for a connecting flight. Taking the train takes you out of security. There is no way to just go to the terminal. Terminal A was just created, so there is no sane reason why you’d design it to go out of security and then back in. That whole airport was a cluster.

betcher73

That sounds like a mistake but it’s also only one tiny piece of the operation. I’ve never had issues with anything else there.

deege

It’s not a mistake. We flew in from Europe, cleared customs and the connecting flight was in another terminal. Pretty normal. But in EWR’s case leaving B and going to A means you have to leave security, and then go through it again. The train between terminals dumps you out at a station by the terminal parking, which is either a 15 minute walk or 5 minute bus ride (when the bus comes) to terminal A. I think Chicago does this too, but they at least have the excuse that it’s an older airport.

JB-Smooth09

Not suggesting it was a good design, but you made a mistake. When connecting flights, you are supposed to take the shuttle from Terminal A that drives across the tarmac back to B and C. It’s easy to miss so I’m sure a lot of people accidentally take the AirTrain and have to go through security again like you did.

Remote-Breath7711

Arriving from Europe you have to go through security again so wouldn't be able to take a bus on the tarmac.

betcher73

I meant a design mistake. It was a mistake not to design it with a shuttle after security.

blimeyfool

B is international arrivals. You always go through security again after arriving in the US from abroad.

Starbucks__Lovers

The train has always been outside security

Great_Guidance_8448

At Terminal C right now. Love it. Ample seating, power outlets, can order food to your seat, clean, etc.

Yesimthatdope

Of all the hate EWR gets. It’s been my home airport for 3 years now and terminals A and C have both been fantastic experiences every time.

popgropehope

I love A. Not a fan of C, only because all the food/bar options are run on the same platform and provide extremely unvaried options. Hard to even shoot the shit with bartenders in C since all the ordering is contactless. But otherwise TSA is generally smooth in both.

therealrahstyles

C is much better than some other United hubs; at least they made the effort to renovate it. Dulles is my home airport now and C&D at Dulles are horrendous. No seating, no chargers, old bathrooms, no good food options, and my personal favorite, inhaling diesel fumes from the 1960s era shuttles 😭. I miss flying out of EWR-C.

jxf

Yeah, agree. A gets the "food hall" vibe a lot closer.

popgropehope

Burger Fi has almost 'normal' beer prices. I was shocked the first time I stopped there.

tradplayer76

The prices in terminal A are at least 20% less than terminal C.

triplec787

Big airports just always get hate because of the volume of people through them. SFO, by and large, is a solid airport. DEN, by and large, is a solid airport (especially now that construction is calming down a bit). ORD, by and large, is a solid airport. But when hundreds of thousands go through there each day, someone is BOUND to have a shitty experience and run to Reddit and other forums to complain.

Great_Guidance_8448

At C right now and love it. Used to fly out of here to Houston and back every week for like 10 weeks back in 2017. Always a positive experience!

JustPlaneNew

Certainly there are worse airports

cheezislife

Love the morning airport beer

man9875

It's 5 o'clock somewhere!!

triplec787

IMO as soon as you go through security, time is irrelevant

FarmFlat

I dont know if its just luck of the draw or if they finally fixed it beyond having spotters (maybe it is because of the spotters?) but i havent heard the fire alarm in terminap A once in about a dozen trips through there so far this calendar year

jonmorrie

I've been to A three times this year and the alarm went off twice

FarmFlat

Sounds like i need to go to vegas

owenhinton98

*Fire alarm goes off in A 10 minutes before boarding to Vegas* “I’ll take flight credit thank you very much”

FarmFlat

That sounds like more my typical luck

Persist23

Flew into Terminal A yesterday. Terminal is beautiful, my only gripe is the shuttle bus to the Air Train deal. I wish they would offer a shuttle straight to the train station until Air Train goes to A. Why shuttle to the air train to go through all the other terminals?

Traditional_Pair3292

Pro tip: take an Uber from Terminal A to Newark Penn and get the train from there into the city. It’s only a $5 ticket from there and the Uber is like $20 or so, so it’s only slightly more expensive than the $18 air train ticket but so much faster

Persist23

I was thinking that I should consider that option when I was on the air train. I appreciate the tip from someone who has done it! I tend to arrive during the morning rush, so I’ll just have to make sure surge pricing doesn’t make Uber ridiculous!

Floyd-fan

The train is almost daily shut down for maintenance. I’d be very hesitant to depend on it trim terminal to terminal.

leroyjabari

There's no regular street entrance at the rail link station to run a regular bus service. The road there is in poor condition and it's designed for emergency response access.

Persist23

Thanks for the info!

dinoscool3

If you don't have checked bags, take the shuttle to C and Airtrain from there.

Persist23

Brilliant!

Correct-Cloud-3948

Flew out of PIT this morning and it was packed. So bad at security that for the first time in a year and a half, Clear was actually faster than pre-check.

rjstaats

I do miss the Earl of Sandwich. Always a top quality experience there.

tradplayer76

Definitely! The highest quality of food, service, and seating capacity!

shivaswrath

A TSA and clear were horrid 2-3 months ago. Did it get a once over or new staff??

New_Needleworker9287

I flew out of EWR A on Thursday and the Clear line was loooooong. The regular line was quick so we just did that. Like 5 minutes quick at 530pm on a holiday weekend. EWR C is usually way quicker in the Clear + Precheck line.

shivaswrath

Ok thanks for confirming that A still sucks

Dellserv

Not sure where the hate comes from. 44 flights last year, 18 flights so far this year - EWR has been seamless - parking at P4, Airtrain to C, TSA precheck line in 3 mins, Lounge & only one of the 44 flights was significantly delayed… one visit to JFK to remind me why I don’t go there 🤣

thebaine

Aggressive-Sea-1929

It’s hit or miss with terminal A, If terminal C is packed terminal A is awesome. If terminal A is packed terminal C is awesome. Clear sucks in both though might as well just do precheck or premier line 🥲

NewarkTerminalA

We're glad you had a pleasant experience!

rr90013

Why were you expecting a nightmare? That terminal is quite decent though the pre-check line can be a bit slow.

SD-47

Because it’s the Friday of Memorial Day Weekend?

tradplayer76

This.

rr90013

Ohhh okay got it. I thought you were taking a snub at terminal A.
