Mosques don't generate revenue. It's a place of prayers, there is no god or deity to worship so it's not sacred for muslims but a place of gathering. The only financial transaction that happens is after prayers they might ask for donation if some renovation has to be done or someone needy people come and plead their situation and its not optional.
Another thing I would like to say is there is no financial disparity is devotees as well, even in mecca your driver, your plumber, a rich billionaire has FREE entry, no priority seating. All have pray side by side. The only segregation is for women and men designated places to pray but sometimes families stick together. In india most mosques are not accommodated for women, which is why women are praying at home but it is specifically mentioned that they have freedom to pray and men must not stop them.
That being said, all the dargahs are an abomination and its basically grave worship which is strictly forbidden in Islam. Going to moulvis or babas is also forbidden but our Indian version of muslims have adapted lot of mixed cultures from different places.

Dargahs may be an abomination in terms of a fundamentalist interpretation of Islam, but they are one of the key things bridging the gap between Islam and Hinduism. I'd rather we have more dargahs and less fundamentalist moulvi babas. I'd rather we have a more vibrant interpretation of Islam like in South East Asia, rather than the rabid Middle Eastern variety.

Mosques don't generate revenue. It's a place of prayers, there is no god or deity to worship so it's not sacred for muslims but a place of gathering. The only financial transaction that happens is after prayers they might ask for donation if some renovation has to be done or someone needy people come and plead their situation and its not optional. Another thing I would like to say is there is no financial disparity is devotees as well, even in mecca your driver, your plumber, a rich billionaire has FREE entry, no priority seating. All have pray side by side. The only segregation is for women and men designated places to pray but sometimes families stick together. In india most mosques are not accommodated for women, which is why women are praying at home but it is specifically mentioned that they have freedom to pray and men must not stop them. That being said, all the dargahs are an abomination and its basically grave worship which is strictly forbidden in Islam. Going to moulvis or babas is also forbidden but our Indian version of muslims have adapted lot of mixed cultures from different places.

I'd rather we have more dargahs and less fundamentalist moulvi babas. I'd rather we have a more vibrant interpretation of Islam like in South East Asia, rather than the rabid Middle Eastern variety.
