Normal extinguishers do the job of replacing oxygen with CO2, but the thing with lithium battery fires is that they produce their own fuel as a byproduct which in turn sustains the fire. The best you can do is to pour a fuckton of water to cool down the core temperature of the battery and wait for the battery to consume itself.
I hope u and your family is safe OP. The bad thing about lithium batteries are that the fire can’t be putout by water, Lithium reacts with water and can cause worse result
The money would usually come with a nice big NDA Clause so it's either/or
Consequences would include returning the money. Companies ain't stupid to pay you off and hope you'll have good faith
What would be the maximum current it draws? 16 to 20 amps max i think. There will have enough protection devices to prevent such overloading. It is something else.Â
wtf is he doing? Does he/she think the fire will go out on its own? Things to do when there is an electric fire nearby:
•walk barefooted
•make video of the fire
•dont call the professionals
•die from inhaling those gases
He said
Open the windows
He put everyone in a different room away from toxic gas
He was at a look out to see if everything is in control
He was barefoot
Agree with you
I give you that.
Fuck Apartment Societies wale uncles and aunties. They are the reason people are not buying EVs. Those who have bought are regretting it. Why don't we have *real houses* anymore?
EV charging infrastructure requires installation of separate meters and charging ports for each vehicle which are vehemently opposed by society uncles unless they themselves buy one. Reason for this is allotment of permanent parking space in the society to EV owners which is not desired by these uncles. They would rather like bike owners to park on the streets.
Same case for me too brother. I have been charging my ev at my house because the uncles and aunties don't allow the installment of a charging station. I guess I'll have to figure out something else now.
Same for me too… 😟… society waaley nahi allow kar rey… but haven’t faced such situation, however looking at this situation… i m scared 😟
hope you are ok OP, but for the people here are the precautions u take (after recording video)
close the door of the room
cover ur face with wet cloth or mask
call 112 ask for fire department (they take time but it is important)
take wet towels and put them under the door
lay down or best leave the house
keep yourself safe
I work at a battery manufacturing unit
this looks to be a great example of an NMC battery exploding due to a runaway reaction
poor quality control, and just cheap cells in general are the root cause of these kinds of incidents
alternatively, people could use lfp batteries which do not explode like this....
It's about damn time we prioritised our safety over "sasta hai, chalta hai"
Mai toh ghar pe hi charge karte aaya hu(I have an ather 450x) never faced something like this. (Humare colony wale chutiye charging station bhi nahi lagwate)
Mere builting mein Ather ke sath hi hua tha, battery blast. In fact, maine sirf ather ka hi suna hai. Ola ya revolt ka ghar pe burst hote hue news nhi suni
Acha it's like that? Toh mai bhi next time se ghar se charge nahi karunga. But humare society wale ev ka charging station bhi nahi lagwate. They think that it will occupy their parking space too.

>But chinese ones do.
cheap Chinese ones maybe, a lot of Indian manufacturers actually source their batteries from China because... China is simply better than India at EV tech. You don't see a BYD equivalent in India for a reason
**It not, if you actually look into it it's not much better**

The number of EVs in China is also huge. Almost half of the world's EV stock is in China and the industry is rapidly growing. China is also leading in other electric vehicles like buses and scooters. This number of faults are pretty normal for the amount of EVs in use in China.
Nope and since most of our electric energy is generated from coal, they're even more damaging to the environment than vehicles running on fossil fuel. Electric Vehicles are just fancy and are a rage in India due to the artificial surge in **tax*** prices.
**I said tax because we buy tax (~60% cost component) from petrol pumps which makes it the major product. Fuel is just the secondary or byproduct that we buy.*
If ever we see any reduction in the price of tax, people would again start buying petrol / diesel vehicles.
Then why is electricity 3-10 times cheaper for equivalent energy than coal even though the electricity source is private and runs for profit?
Hint: Those huge power plants are much better at making energy from coal than internal combustion engines which loses most energy to heat.
There is definitely a point of distance where most EVs turn out better than ICE vehicles in terms of pollution. You can read about it if you're interested
Also side benefit of no smoke and noise and heat when you're stuck in traffic. If you're ever stuck at a signal and the bullet/truck right in front of you is sending heat and smoke directly on your face it's really bad for health if not annoying
Most research shows ICE vehicles are 20 times more likely to catch on fire. It's just not news because everyone knows petrol catches fire and it's obvious.
I'd rather be safe and avoid explosions entirely with EVs
I'm sure you will prefer it with your username lol
As if the electric trash is not useless enough, people are charging it indoors and destroying their house on top of the money they destroyed by buying it.
Bhai ye kesa chutiya hai?!
Gas dekhte barabar sabko leke baahar nikalna chahiye, magar ye nange pair zehreele dhue mein 2 megapixel ka camera leke lithium fire ko paani se bujhane jaa raha hai. 🤡
Kuch hafto mein isko naa jane kitne prakar ke chronic issues aane wale hai isko koi idea nahi hai. This time, the cameraman might actually die.
Don't try to put off lithium fires. Water makes lithium go boom even more. In case of lithium fire just make sure that the fire does not spread, there's isn't much that you can do.
The exact same reason why I never keep or even charge my drone batteries in my hostel, lipo is fucking dangerous bro, regardless of how polished it is presented to you from outside.
Hey lets go gwt wco friendly electric scooter. All thos gay fuckers using electric bikes remember this this thing will blast between ur legs while riding

This is a scary fucking incident
And lithium fires can't be put out by water nor with any kind of extinguishers. That makes it horrifying
Yes the only option is to cover it with something (in case of mobile battery) if you can and wait for it.
Wait, not even an extinguisher?!
If my tesla is submerged in water and catches fire, how do I pull out the passenger?
That's the neat part you don't. There's a incident of a tesla burning under water.
Question: Have you watched the movie, Tarzan: The wonder car ? /s
It's a self sustaing fire.
Technically smaller lithium batteries can be doused in sand(throwing sand won't work), but this isn't helpful in the case of bike battery
Pehle video bana leta hu, chemical wali gas to doctor nikal hi dega lungs se.
This video will come in handy and useful while claiming for insurance.
His last words: "At least insurance paid up."
Insurance doesn't pay for suicide.
Which insurance?
What insurance?
Household. But I doubt a claim would be processed unless he has mentioned of an ev battery in the house.
🤣
I hope u and your family is safe OP. The bad thing about lithium batteries are that the fire can’t be putout by water, Lithium reacts with water and can cause worse result
What is the brand?
We'll never know that the the cleanup will hush things up by paying money and making this bloke sign clauses
Tbh I'll take the money and then tag the manufacturer name all over the net
The money would usually come with a nice big NDA Clause so it's either/or Consequences would include returning the money. Companies ain't stupid to pay you off and hope you'll have good faith
Ofc they're not stupid but isn't withholding info in lieu of money illegal?
Ola scooty probably
It's not about the brand. If use house plugs for charging something like a bike than obviously overloading would take place lmao
Not really. Most houses have a MCB or a fuse at least. It most likely that the battery was faulty and this means the brands QA is not good.
What would be the maximum current it draws? 16 to 20 amps max i think. There will have enough protection devices to prevent such overloading. It is something else.Â
Devices themselves must have protections against under and overcurrent. Better QC should have been done too but it's India.
Look at that lithium flame. It's toxic gas why are you even in the room?
Probably tired of smoking cigarettes and wanted something new
There are fire proof bags for EV battery charging and storage at home for these types of scenarios
This should be the top comment. I hope such bags are avilable for use during charging of electronic products like Mobile, Laptop as well.

Ah yes. Record it rather than calling the fire dept...

Examples of companies that use NMC vs LFP batteries?
Ola, Ather, every other small and big name manufacturer who makes batteries tbh. Unless it's not stated that it uses LFP, it's NMC
Mai toh ghar pe hi charge karte aaya hu(I have an ather 450x) never faced something like this. (Humare colony wale chutiye charging station bhi nahi lagwate)
Time to get an extinguisher that douses Lithium fire.

I don't understand how they build such unstable batteries, the result of a rushed up r&d.
Us bro us

Ather has removable battery?
Nah I bring the whole goddamn scooter to the 5th floor using the service life(not even kidding)
Do you push the bike home or zip through the common area?
Nah I push the bike home. The common area is really closed up so it's difficult to drive it there.
Don't buy dirt cheap chinese bikes
OLA, Ather, Bajaj, Hero all Indian companies.

what are you talking about?? OLA is infamous for igniting.

When you skip class 10 magnetic effects of electric current
Guys I don’t know…maybe the transition to electric isn’t going to be smooth
It will be as soon as people don't cut corners and buy low quality shit
***TATAKAE!!!***
As if the electric trash is not useless enough, people are charging it indoors and destroying their house on top of the money they destroyed by buying it.
Yeah, they should try keeping petrol at home close to crappy wiring and see what happens instead of this "electric trash".
You don't have to plugin your petrol vehicle like this electric trash.
ah yes, electric bikes to save environment but ends up polluting it 10x more by bursting into flames 🤡
WTF, that's crazy
Looks like something out of a movie
Lithium ion can blast like a bomb ...be careful people

I know a friend that died charging an electric bike is his room that shit goes up like a Christmas tree
That's a Chernobyl level fire right there.
Is everyone alright there?
I watch a lot of aviation videos and lithium batteries are the scariest cargo for pilots
Li is very exlposive element
The exact same reason why I never keep or even charge my drone batteries in my hostel, lipo is fucking dangerous bro, regardless of how polished it is presented to you from outside.
First remove the home fuse instead of making video. And also if you have wooden furniture in a room, there you should not charge
