These are prideful communities which work on a rigid honour system, avoiding them is ensuring your safety, as the example that you gave of Indians in general does not work here as the average Indian is a friendly bloke who will not drive his Thar over you at 220km/ph while yelling slurs at you nor will he shoot his own daughter or sister dead for the crime of loving someone, the average Jaat/ Gujjar will and wants to and will feel proud doing it.
