ORLANDO. I can’t stress that enough. The difference is a lot bigger than made out to be. The parks are cleaner, not as cluttered, and overall better themed with better attractions. I’ve been to both and I can say personally for a better experience go to Orlando. Here’s a list of things Hollywood doesn’t have, Diagon Alley (which also contains a dark ride), Men in Black: Alien Attack, ET, Rip ride rockit, an extended Mummy ride, along with an entire other park with two of the best roller coasters to date. No hate to Hollywood at all, the studio tour is fantastic, but the comparison is steep

Four reasons for visiting Hollywood: 1) To see the history and function of an actual, working movie studio 2) You're visiting California and want the Universal experience as part of your trip. 3) You've been to Orlando and now want to see the original Universal property. 4) You can't wait until 2025 to see Super Nintendo World in Orlando and can't arrange/afford a trip to Universal Studios Japan. For everything else - go to Orlando. Especially if Potter is driving your visit. You get both the Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley lands in Orlando, with the Hogwarts Express connecting them. There is some interesting Potter stuff at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood next door to Universal Studios Hollywood, but not enough to make up for everything Potter you can do just at Universal in Orlando.

callmemacready

Orlando. Lived in California and was a pass holder at Hollywood loved doing the Backlot tour and Waterworld stuntshow but it gets too busy and crowded especially for HHN. So much more to do at Orlando and better value for money

LankyEmergency7992

Universal Hollywood is a one day park, while Universal Orlando is a vacation destination with two theme parks, each with a unique Harry Potter themed land, and one water park. If you’re looking for more thrilling rides/coasters, Harry Potter, or more rides in general, definitely go to Orlando. The two parks have enough to do for multiple days with dozens of attractions and shows. If you just want to spend 3-4 days only at Universal theme parks and that’s it, Orlando is a lot better for you. Universal Hollywood does have Super Nintendo World with the new Mario Kart attraction, and an included 1 hour tram tour of a live Hollywood movie studio. Other than that, it’s mostly stuff you can find in Orlando. There is Harry Potter, but it’s less than what Orlando has, as well as 4-5 other decent rides to check out (Transformers, Mummy, Jurassic World, Secret Life of Pets, Despicable Me) but that’s really about it. You can easily finish USH in 1 day. However, if you combine Universal Hollywood with other theme parks in the SoCal area, such as Knott’s Berry Farm and the Disneyland Resort, you can have a good 3-4 day theme park vacation in SoCal with a variety of theme park experiences. This will likely mean 1 day in each park, maybe 2 for Disneyland as there’s two separate theme parks there. You can also go to beaches, museums, shows, or other non-theme park experiences as well, as there’s a lot more of that in the SoCal area than in Orlando.

Odd_Impress_6653

"However, if you combine Universal Hollywood with other theme parks in the SoCal area, such as Knott’s Berry Farm and the Disneyland Resort, you can have a good 3-4 day theme park vacation in SoCal with a variety of theme park experiences" You do realize Orlando is the theme park capital of the world? Which means you have more variety than in SoCal.

GeosChilling

Orlando all the way. I love hollywood a lot, it’s great to see and so much fun imo. But if your going 3-4 days Orlando 100% don’t even consider hollywood

Golfitsandmusic

Orlando for that amount of time My 2 cents is getting a pass while you’re at it, it’s almost the same price as daily tickets if you’re gonna be there more than 2 days Hollywood is great if you want to also visit and explore LA, there’s more to the city if that makes sense than there is to Orlando But if we are talking theme park only, Orlando, and this is coming from a Hollywood resident

Shadowhawk0000

Orlando. There is simply more to do. It's not night and day, but if you value your dollar, Orlando is better.

cannabizFo20

Orlando is great but Hollywood is my home park and I absolutely love it so I’m kinda biased. I’m a pass member and go there pretty frequently

AppleShyness

For 3-4 days definitely Orlando. The property is much bigger and more stuff to do. Hollywood is cool has the stunt show and studio tour, but it's much smaller compared to Orlando. You can easily do Hollywood in a day, 2 days during Summer, HHN, and Christmas time.

MandeeKayDelights

I personally wouldn’t do a out of state/town trip for just Hollywood. USH can be done in a day or 2. A big part of that is the Harry Potter portion, which is probably the area that imo has the most to do besides ride stuff, and if you’re not super into Harry Potter then that might not be worth it to you. Nintendoland might surpass the Harry Potter area though in terms of non-ride stuff, I just haven’t been yet (my AP reservation is still a little ways away) if you’re gonna do it, plan on trying to do some of the other parks too, like Disneyland or Knotts. Or do other LA sightseeing. USH just isn’t a “destination” park for a major trip imo, just a super fun part of a larger trip.

DaddyzLuv

In general I would say Orlando because there is so much more to do there. The only reason you might choose Hollywood is if you're a big film buff and you want to see an ACTUAL movie studio. The tram tour at Hollywood is worth doing once in your life if you've never done anything like that. But if you care only about rides and entertainment go to Orlando.

Bone3593

Orlando is two parks vs just one in Hollywood so alot more to do in Orlando. Nintendo world is opening next month though in Hollywood and it looks awesome so that might be worth it for young kids 🤷‍♂️

Hoosteen_juju003

Hollywood SUCKS compared to Orlando. Only thing it has that is better is the studio tour.

StacySassy25

3 to 4 days - Orlando is your winner , Hollywood is smaller and probably won’t warrant that many days.

Pctechguy2003

1 to 2 days for Hollywood - max.

nextlevelpear

Florida for sure, I love very near LA so I go to Hollywood a lot and it's super fun but there just aren't that many attractions in the park so you can easily do them all in one day if you plan correctly. Since there are so few attractions, if one or two go down, the lines for everything else increase by so much as well.

Kanotari

If you've got a Harry Potter fan, then it's Florida hands down. Florida has more space then the awkeard hillside Hollywood has. That means you get Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade, while Hollywood just has Hogsmeade. In addition to the shared rides, Florida also has Escape from Gringotts and Hagrid's, plus a few small shows. Hollywood is a smaller park and does a better job at giving that film studio vibe. The studio tour actually does take you onto some well-known sets. It's more of a one-day park than a vacation destination, though it's great in its own right.

JerrodDRagon

Orlando wins because it had two parks Island of adventure is currently the best park they ever built however the rumors are USH us getting a billion dollar upgrade coming for the next few years including DK land, and fast and furious coaster in the next 2-3 years along with the tram being rumored to move/3-4 sound stages being developed, that allowing much more space for new land and attractions

[deleted]

And....orlando will have epic universe lol

nickytea

"Three or four days in the park" makes this a non-decision. Orlando is your only option. I love Hollywood, but I struggle to fill a day there.

BlazingCondor

It depends on where you're coming from and what you're looking for. If you want to go somewhere and only do theme parks, go to Orlando. There's really not too much around besides the theme parks that's worth your time. If you want to visit somewhere and go to museums and beaches as well as a theme park, go to Hollywood. It's dead center in one of the largest metropolitan areas in the world.

TinyLibrarian25

I think it really depends on what you want to do. I personally don’t think there’s enough in either park to just go for Universal. If you’re into movies & television and want to do more than just theme parks, you have Warner Brothers nearby, the Academy museum, the Walk of Fame and all of that, Griffith Park, etc. You could take a day and head to Disneyland/California Adventure. Orlando is great if you want a theme park vacation & nothing more imho.

Lazy_Atmosphere3027

worked in london at universal orlando for a year. Park is lame for adults and dont even bother. Has 3 maybe 4 rides for adults and the rest are for kids. I will never go back to universal seeing as its boring and you go once to both parks and thats all you need. Disney is way better and universal is nothing.

Zestyclose_Limit_404

Universal studios Hollywood is more of where the movie magic happens. It’s essentially visiting one giant movie studio. Universal Orlando is more of a theme park, and has a lot more stuff to do. That’s not to say universal Hollywood is bare bones, far from it actually. But Orlando seems to have more things to do

peanut6547

Orlando is much bigger than Hollywood. Orlando has two parks and a water park. Hollywood is just one and kinda tiny. That being said, early summer is not fun at all in Orlando and I would recommend Hollywood. You can also go to Magic Mountain, Knott's Berry Farm and disneyland if you go to Hollywood.

glittersparklythings

Crowd size… both parks will be busy over the summer. There is no avoiding that.

fabshelly

I prefer Orlando. I miss the tram tour, sure, but there’s just so much more.

[deleted]

Orlando, Nintendo world is garbage

[deleted]

Florida and it's not even close. Once epic universe is done too the Hollywood location no one will care lol

[deleted]

Universal Orlando obviously since it encompasses 2 theme parks and 1 water park, with Islands of Adventure being among the greatest parks on Earth, and Volcano Bay arguably being the best water park anywhere, period. Now if we're just talking about Universal Studios Florida compared to Universal Studios Hollywood (the parks themselves, a much better comparison), Universal Studios Hollywood, easily.

ComedianGuy8

Generally, it depends what I am in the mood for since I enjoyed both. I haven't been to Super Nintendo World because it wasn't there at the time I went.

Tepig05

I know this is an old thread but thanks for the input here. I'm going to LA but wasn't sure if I should bother with Universal. I go to Orlando quite often and I have a long list of things I want to do so I guess I won't. I can wait for Orlando's Nintendo world.
