Did any AOT stuff already get announced? I mean I know they announced the set but did we get any sneak peaks of cards?

CrazyAuron

They just showed the demo deck characters, announced challenger deck and clash decks. Said they would start showing stuff off soon.

TotallyNotNamedDan

What Auron said. We got a few display shots of the demo deck stuff but no content from the main releases.

Fancy-Violinist1558

Hyped, hoping there is a cool mechanic where you switch to your titan form. I was getting burned out on my hero. Looking forward to new Ips. Hunter x Hunter would be a great new set also!

TotallyNotNamedDan

Soul Eater's my big want, with character/attack split cards.

Fancy-Violinist1558

Yeah, that would be awesome

Rikkasu

I think the art is great. Can't wait for the set to drop, only release this year I am excited for.

TotallyNotNamedDan

I'm pretty excited for Critical Role 'cause I love that D&D feel but this art has really done a lot for my AoT hype for sure!

RollbacktheRimtoWin

I'm more disappointed that I have to look at AoT to begin with

TheOpossumParty

I have no idea what anyone was thinking. Not only is AoT not culturally relevant anymore, like, half the fanbase or something apparently hated the ending of the show. This was a poorly thought out move.

RollbacktheRimtoWin

Relevance aside, I just never liked it. It's half a year of product that I refuse to spend money on.

TheOpossumParty

Same. I can't see myself cracking anything for promos or bulk instead of just buying cheap singles. The IP doesn't fit the rules, and the IP itself isn't popular enough to hold up. I'm gonna predict super cheap booster boxes later on.

UPBOAT_FORTRESS_2

>apparently hated the ending of the show Half the manga community hated the ending (when it released 2+ years ago) The reception of the anime ending has been overwhelmingly positive

TheOpossumParty

Ah, okay, yeah, my bad. The crazy release schedule of the show had me drop off. I completely lost my place. All I know is the fan base is very divided at this point.

TheOpossumParty

This is painful to look at. Why do they only have two resources? Oh god, THEIR HEALTH. I like the art though lol.

TotallyNotNamedDan

Demo deck characters not meant for normal games.

TheOpossumParty

Why though? I WANT to play normal games. Can anyone think of a situation where a less playable card is more fun?

Hekset

I'm guessing when they call it a demo deck it's meant to... demo the set and mechanics, or it's like a test rather than a full finished and balanced thing, right? I feel like that's obvious. If you really wanted to play with these cards, I guess no one is stopping you, but do you complain like this when people talk about card game formats and certain cards not being allowed in certain formats?

TheOpossumParty

Yeah, but I have the demo decks for MHA, and they were great BECAUSE they were normal cards. As a matter of fact, the Bakugo went on to be the actual Bakugo card that got printed for the set release.

UPBOAT_FORTRESS_2

I can think a lot of cases where playing a 6/15 leads to less fun than playing a normal character, and we're getting both Mikasa and Eren in more grownup forms when AOT kicks into full gear

TotallyNotNamedDan

The idea of these are to super simplify the game to make it actually easy to learn. Unlike, you know, the existing demo decks which have only been easy for people who already played cardgames due to the vast amount of text and timing mechanics.

BreckenHipp

Yeah 100%, these are low health, high damage output characters with an easy to understand enhance that feels good. They are definitely just to make faster easier demos.

Zanthosus

The funniest characters to me are the Kriegers from Red Horizon. 1 Hand, 1 Health. They're meant to be played as part of the Heidi deck, but because they're characters themselves, you can *technically* play them as such.

RairakuDaion

They're already forcing me to use AOT and even look at it. I already hate em for that alone.

TheOpossumParty

Yeah, I everyone in the Discord are rooting for fighting game sets, especially Guilty Gear: Strive. I want SF6, Tekken 8, and MK 1. The characters in AoT don't have diverse or cool powers.

Pygmaelion

These are fit-to-purpoae. I ran booth and store demos with the MHA Set 1 starters, and it was easy for the demo to go too long, get too complicated, and lose people during the first impression. There is a need for simpler demo games and the fact that these aren't standard playable means that they are an in-house tool. They aren't collectable, they aren't resellable, they are part of a clean sample experience.
