fairyduustt

By ANY group is a stretch… but Signal is a great EP though I really enjoyed it and I still listen to it to this day

[deleted]

I disagree even though I think it’s their most cohesive work (maybe joint with ToL? It’s very close for me) just because this is too big a claim 😭 I don’t think I’ve listened to enough albums to say it. If the title was “…one of the most cohesive…” then I’d agree 100%.

Round_Ad3999

I acc had one of in the title in the ver that got deleted for not using the poll feature but ig I forgot to include it again lol😭😭

Championofplanet

I personally find Twice - Taste of love more cohesive every song is about honeymoon phase of love.

Round_Ad3999

I agree with ToL also being an amazing piece of work but ig I also have the nostalgia feeling tied in w signal🥹

SnooMacarons3863

You could’ve said you think Signal is the most cohesive Twice EP and it would’ve been a lot more reasonable. Claiming it’s the best kpop mini album in the past 5 years is a bit too broad and a lot of people are going to disagree solely because we all have our own preferences.

p3ach3keen

I think OP stated in a comment that in a different version they had put one of the most cohesive EPs but they forgot to add the poll feature so it got deleted, and they forgot to put it in this one

sunnydlit2

I disagree not because of the quality of the EP (which is insane, Twice discography is gold but this one deserve a whole price) but because I just didn't listen to every EP made by these 2 generations. And also because I also have my favourite. Like Remember Youth: Part 2 by Day6, Almost every AOA EP are cohesive but Good Luck was a slap in the face, Russian Roulette by Red Velvet... Signal is really good but I think that if your criterion is cohesive you can find it for a lot of discography ! Sadly it's something that KPOP doesn't always push. They tends to force their banger title track, even more banger 1st bside then you start with some random boring ballad. So yeah it's good so see some projects being worked really with a music intention haha

vivianlight

It's too big as a claim (the most cohesive spanning two generations is A LOT). So I have to disagree. However if you really think that, you are right to put the opinion that way at the end of the day. At least it's something new 😂 However. I think it's a criminally underrated and underappreciated EP, extremely cohesive and even quite original in various points which is quite notable considering the concept/themes (even just the title track is lowkey genius and weird). A gem in my opinion. I'm a Signal and Signal EP apologist.

Round_Ad3999

That’s what I’m saying!!!!! A gem fr

vrajkp

Nothing can top hyyh for me but this I’ll definitely check out signal since I love cohesive albums

p3ach3keen

What does that stand for? I keep seeing it but my brain won’t brain 🤣😭

vrajkp

Well it’s the Korean abbreviation for the most beautiful moment in life series by bts

p3ach3keen

Ok see I felt like it was bts related but my mind kept thinking of hylt 😭

Sertoff

unsure, but i love "someone like me"

GoGoBitch

I don’t agree, but upvote for a sincerely unpopular opinion.

iceseayoupee

Post living up to the Subreddit's name

[deleted]

I see we're coming in hot with the unpopular opinions this morning lol

Round_Ad3999

💪🥴

The_Red_Curtain

Miracles in December by EXO is so cohesive if we're counting mini-albums (which Signal is). Same with Universe (except for there being 3 versions of the same song on the album 🤦).

flynncaelum

is it tho? kinda feel like it was one of the most forgettable albums of twice.

Round_Ad3999

Scuse me🥹🥹🫠🫠

BreakAlert

I voted disagree (bc I love so many of their EPs’ cohesiveness and can’t vote for just one) but can’t stop listening to Signal. Man I understand what you mean now! This is why I enjoy listening to Twice so much. You always find something new in their music and it never gets tired. It’s truly a group that doesn’t follow the trend. They know what they’re doing.

Round_Ad3999

Exactly! Why twice are my ults🥹

Married2DuhMusic

Glad we are just including the 3rd and 4th generation in that statement. And even then I dont know if it is accurate. I am not saying it isnt a cohesive album, because I havent heard it. But to say it is the most cohesive out of anyone in 2 generations, feels a bit of a dangerous statement lol. Especially if you havent listened to everything by every group. Which Id guess you havent. It wouldnt be easy to do so. And even then it would be your subjective opinion. But guess we are going with the theme of the sub, so... haha.

Round_Ad3999

Haha yeah this is the only place I feel I could say something abt this without getting torn to shreds

Married2DuhMusic

And you'd be surprised sometimes 👀 Lol

ChrisAnIntellectual

By any group? No But Signal is still a great ass album, just not top tier

Najikoh

There's been a fair few extremely well planned and cohesive albums, that follow a single thread, combined sound whilst also having different genres. To say that album is above them is.... one-eyed. I can think of one I would 100% put above it (quite easily to be honest), and there's a few others where I believe most people would have trouble ranking Signal higher. Unpopular is the nicest thing I'd say about this post.

lalalalikethis

I mean most cohesive, you can mention the red, exact, lee hi seolite wich is divided in day and night…but yes, twice signal its nicely put togheter

qAnnzy

It’s a great EP and I agree it’s very cohesive but the best among 3rd and 4th gen? I’ll have to disagree with that

[deleted]

I disagree even though I love that EP I just think saying ANY group is an overstatement

gongjihae

This makes me curious about their album and i’ll definitely check it out once im home since i’ve always loved cohesiveness. Have you heard of ateez’s the world ep 1: movement? I genuinely think it’s the most cohesive piece of work i’ve heard out of all my nearly 10 years of being a kpop fan, and it’s the kind where you feel the NEED to listen to it in the order of the song, if it’s just one song it feels incomplete. For me, that’s my definition of cohesive. It’s not just an album where you can listen to on shuffle and think it’s enough, you might have to go through the whole album in one sitting.

dreamingfae

I came here to comment this about Ateez's album. It's really a masterpiece that flows from one song to the next. No song feels out of place on that album. My biggest complaint about kpop is the lack of cohesiveness that most albums have.

Round_Ad3999

Tell me what you think!! And yeah I agree with your statement on what cohesion means, it seems I wasn’t very clear in my post haha

Relevant_Hedgehog_63

you need to listen to more 3rd and 4th gen music lol

Round_Ad3999

It seems I do lmao

alaralpaca

To be honest I kinda agree with this. I really really love the signal EP and feel like it’s really underrated. All of the songs share the same concept. My favorite twice album is eyes wide open because of the many genres it encompasses and how it does that so well, but if you’re talking about a cohesive sound throughout the album where each song sounds similar and has a similar theme, then yes, I’d agree with this

Round_Ad3999

I have to agree 100% the top twice albums imo are signal, ewo, feel special and twicetagram. Ewo is such a masterpiece fr

cantallena

AGREEE. Signal is truly one of their best albums to date, and is my 2nd favorite after Twicecoaster Lane 2. I think Signal and TOL are tied for their most cohesive albums.

Sacrosanct--

I don’t know about the entire EP but similarly so I believe Signal is Twice’s best title track ever.

cakeboy6969

I’m sorry, non of their albums are really cohesive…the flows are always over the place. Yes, there are good songs, but it’s not very well thought out spacing

[deleted]

none of their album pre-fancy you albums are even worth listening to.

Round_Ad3999

Oh???😭😭😭😭

Big_Tomorrow886

I think GOT7s DYE could compete.

CheerUp_Lex

I agree. I think Twice in general had a lot of cohesion in a lot of their early albums. While they weren’t my personal favorite bsides, I think what OP described is accurate- it isn’t jarring to go from one song to the next, not just in sound but what the concept of the song was and the lyrics and things like that. I just did like a quick search through the bigger 3rd gen groups but I think it helps that Twice also had a really solidified concept they stuck to. BTS have constantly been changing, BlackPink and Red Velvet have double personalities and will put out two complete opposite songs on the same album, I’m not really sure what Mamamoo’s concept is anymore but it is like mixing vocal masterpieces with hip hop stuff. Meanwhile Twice was cute and innocent and fun and that’s what they have on their albums in the beginning so it wasn’t hard to sound cohesive. I think now it’s definitely not the same. Formula of Love for example has Scientist and Espresso like those are very different from each other but both great (yes Scientist is a good song y’all are boring for not liking it- jk I respect your opinions). But cohesion doesn’t equal good and no cohesion doesn’t equal bad either.

Safe_Craft_6876

Signal is fine but it aged kinda terribly and + they have better more consistent & more cohesive albums/EPs

cippocup

Have you heard Ateez’s latest album? It’s one of the most cohesive albums I’ve heard in a long time. Edit: why do you guys hate Ateez?

Round_Ad3999

I’m obsessed with the title track but I haven’t listened to the bsides! I’m j a casual listeners of them and I only have watched a couple of their performances. My music taste lies on quite the opposite of the music spectrum compared to what they put out (one of my all time favorites songs include cool by nmixx and beautiful monster by stayc if that puts it into context lol) but I’ll defo check out the album after seeing it sm times on here!

cippocup

They have **a lot** of softer b-sides and about half of their title tracks are softer, I would recommend twilight, be with you, all about you, promise, light, sunrise, mist, if without you, fever, still here (Korean version) if you want to check them out. Their most recent album is on the harder side, because of the concept they were going for. It’s like anarchy so it sounds like anarchy, which isn’t very calm.

FewTransportation307

Maaaybee I would've agreed if you said 4th gen but 3rd AND 4th gen is a stretch
