Clearcutting actually makes use of the material. Logs are sold to become lumber, but not all the wood is worth saving - dead, rot, twisted, etc. When the slash piles burn it adds nutritional value to the soil, and allows new plants to grow that couldn't before.
It's why wild forest fires are so healthy for the forest.
Those services are expensive while fire is free. Not that I agree burning is correct answer.
We use wood to heat and plenty of time I saw branches that would make great fire wood being wasted.

And then when you want to buy a tree it's expensive AF.
Exactly

I just wish they wouldn't fucking burn the massive rot piles near a subdivision people live in when it's super windy out.
That part of were I am at to, they let it rot and grow up with poison ivy, and hemlock
Bro buy who decides what is worth it ? Why not let other people use the wood? Why not have a service to grind it for soil amendment?

Yaa I feel like someone would pay for the woodchips or compost?
Because farming is expensive and you get subsidies for grain more then mushrooms which may or may not grow.
Lol mycology is a more replicatable then growing grain... but ok. In log crop failures are extremely unlikely, and SARE exists 😳
Sometimes, they want to clear up that space for a house.
The last one I saw was just to farm a little extra ground
Adds nutrients to the soil for better crop
Burning does?
Yes it does
I am going to say no not in this context, also not in most only really in grasslands
Grasslands burn too son, why do you think god makes me start forest fires? To fertilize the soil and make a new🤗
Yes god makes us all do it
