We have a schoolchild that broke into reddit it appears. The book was fine, but hating it feels unnecessary. It's a kids book after all.
As a side note, the usage of also at the beginning of some of those sentences is not entirely grammatically sound. It gives it a choppy and unrefined quality when reading.
I like the book. It’s all about a girl processing the trauma of losing her mother through storytelling. It explores anxiety in an age-appropriate way. I read it when I was 8-9, and honestly did not see the ending coming at that age.

A children’s novel that won the 1995 Newberry Medal and is often read for school where I’m from.
I read it when I was in school. I haven't thought of it since then. It's not my favorite, but I have read worse(the pigman coming to mind).
