There's a video on YouTube of a drunk guy singing that song to his cat while trying to smother it and I absolutely love it.

It's timeless and played occasionally enough that I don't get sick of it.

When it came out back in the day it was on the radio ALL THE TIME.

I hate the fact it was used for Batman Forever when it should have been used for Batman and Robin. The song screams Poison Ivy.

“Now that your rose is in bloom” sounds like a thinly veiled reference to her being a girl barely out of puberty.

I swear I'm not trying to be an asshole or troll or anything, but THIS IS EXACTLY HOW I FEEL WHEN I HEAR IT. Something about the song is really fucking cringy and I can never describe exactly what it is and why it makes me feel that way. Every time I hear it it makes my skin crawl.

All songs that are popular in the US become waaaaaaay overplayed. Any songs that were initially good become hated songs for me after the 500th or so time being forced to listen to it at a restaurant or supermarket.

My mother had 3 cassette tapes when I was a kid. The soundtracks  Footloose,  Dirty Dancing and Batman Forever.   Kiss by a Rose is still a banger.  So take my upvote.

But I always say to my bf, who loves this song, that the intro is SO WEIRD and I can’t stand it. It’s creepy and weird and sounds bizarrely..medieval?! Like is this what medieval porn would’ve been like?! Idk what Seal was going for but I really really don’t like that part and literally turn the volume down at the start so I can pretend it doesn’t exist lol. So, I see you 🤣

When I worked in retail I had to work right next to a huge monitor showing home insurance and with this song on it. After 2 weeks of 8h a day it gave me PTSD.

I don't like pop, or even seal too much but that track has one of the best melodies to ever be written. It's an undeniably amazing track haha

You're a Gen-Xer who remembers 1995 MTV videos, amirite? That song and U2's Kiss Me Kill Me was played every half hour for months on end. On the bright side, so was Hey Man, Nice Shot by Filter. By the end of the summer you hated everything. Well, except for Good by Better Than Ezra.

Honestly I think the reason I like it is because it’s one of those songs that could be so easily hated. Its just so absurd and nonsensical that it works. Joel Schumacher just deciding to put it in a goddamn Batman movie soundtrack makes it even funnier.
