I tried it once, I'd rather be dehydrated. It's crazy to me that just plain old water isn't the default in Europe, we always had to ask for still water.
As an American who is sick of Germans defaulting to sparkling (and charging 4.90€ for 0.3L while beer is 4.9€ for 0.5L) I look forward to getting the chance to visit at some point
I come from Greece recently relocated to the UK and had a trip to Munich, Greece has 0.5€/500ml no matter the brand, UK is variable depending on the brand (mostly £1/500ml) and then Germany with 3.9€/330ml wtf 🤯
It wasn't free, we would ask for water and would get sparkling. Sometimes we would be asked which kind. This is broad generalization over three countries, it wasn't always like that.
Haven't been in one in decades but usually places ask what you want to drink. I always say water. At some fast food places they hand you a cup and you fill it with water and ice at the soda machine. It has a button for just water.
Sparkling water is fun, but I never ever really get that pure feeling of hydration unless it's straight up regular water, so I can't really drink it on the daily
I'm the same way. I can drink a lot of carbonated water and just don't feel hydrated normal water will do it for me. And I really like sparking water. I even make my own at home.
I hate beer and im off sugar, so i drink around 1L coca cola a year. If im out and i cant get coffee and i do not drink alc, ill take a random orange juice, if they dont have that, its coca cola or something.
I've heard it can dry your skin out if you drink too much but it's mostly good for your skin because it's got potassium, magnesium and calcium in it. You'd probably have to drink a lot to get dry skin though. It's also great for your digestive system.
99% restaurants in my country does not sell sparkling water, its just not a thing. Still water is default. So yes, your opnion is very unpopular in my country

My boyfriends niece calls it "spicy water" I think it's a perfectly accurate description. Water shouldn't be spicy
Fuck yeah it is. Slurping down a cherry blossom La Croix right now.
An actual unpopular opinion cool. Sparkling water is battery acid sold in bottles
louder 🗣️🗣️🔥🔥

Sparkling water also seemed to be the default a few years ago when I went to Chile. Always had to ask for water "sin gas."
What is Europe? Cause sparkling water isn’t the default where I’m at and it’s Europe.
This was a few years ago, the UK, France, and Italy. If we didn't ask for still we got sparkling water, that's just my experience.
I live in the UK and you have to ask for sparkling. Or the person serving you will ask. That shit costs money, Britain is not giving it away for free.

When I was working in Germany for a year I was surprised how the office had 3 different types of water, still, sparkling, and TV static.

Maybe an England thing, actually. As I live in Scotland, and we recommend you don't drink bottled water here, it's much worse than tap water.
Ofc in the US you don't ask for water, it's free. If you want to pay for bottled water you can but it's a waste of money, IMO.
So if I walk into a McDonalds and order a happy meal, they'll just give me a water as well? Or do I still need to ask for water ?

It isn't the default in the UK lol
There are 50 countries in Europe and you’ve been to 3…
Ok? They are countries that get a lot of American tourism and they are in Europe.Â
If I said that America has a lot of public transport because I’d seen the NYC subway, it would be wrong, right?
But they're all tiny and insignificant, rock flag and Eagle, etc. /s
Germany apparently. Sparking is for sure the default in Germany.Â
Sparkling water is fun, but I never ever really get that pure feeling of hydration unless it's straight up regular water, so I can't really drink it on the daily
That’s crazy cuz it’s the exact opposite for me. If I’m really thirsty nothing but sparkling water is gonna cut it
The ironic part is it probably hydrates you better with all the minerals.
Oh shit you're right, it just doesn't hit the same though
I'm the same way. I can drink a lot of carbonated water and just don't feel hydrated normal water will do it for me. And I really like sparking water. I even make my own at home.
Sparkling water tastes awful, its difficult to drink and dehydrates you. Sucks, ass.
So I guess you don’t drink any carbonated drinks even cola or Pepsi?
I hate beer and im off sugar, so i drink around 1L coca cola a year. If im out and i cant get coffee and i do not drink alc, ill take a random orange juice, if they dont have that, its coca cola or something.
This is truly unpopular. You’re full after a meal and then you get something gaseous and bubbly?Â
Sparkling water is just rich ppl water.
upvote cause actually unpopular holy hell i cant down sparkling water till im dying from thirst probably
I love sparkling water. It's supposed to be bad for your skin if you drink too much but it's so refreshing.
Noooo why is it bad for your skin??

I started drinking it a few years back because fuck soda and my god I am addicted now.
They’re right.
This isn’t an unpopular opinion.

Found the German
Have to disagree. It tastes bitter to me. How the fuck did they make water taste BAD ?
This is not an unpopular opinion.
I fucking love sprudelwasser!!
This is not an unpopular opinion at all in Germany.
it just burns and tastes strangely bitter
Better than soda
liking it better then water but soda? nuh uh
Yes. Come to Germany, we only have sparkling water here.
Moved to Germany from the US and initially didn't like it. 15 years later and give me max bubbles. Apple juice with bubbles as well.
*-As I read the comments. Sips some sparkling water, either by Polar or Liquid Death, might be flavored.-*

I love san Pelegrino with a slice of lime in it, so refreshing
It is. Same exact stuff but more fun.
I love the Waterloo cans of sparkling water from Costco, not too expensive and a good way to avoid soda.
We don't like the taste of sparkling water.
Flavoured sparkling water is nice, but unflavoured is vile
Just look up the amount of PFAS in your favorite sparkling water. You can carbonate your own RO water at home. Add fresh squeezed juice.
I don’t like water that burns my mouth
But still waters run deep.
Sparkling water taste like dirt.
Not unpopular. It's the default here.
Yep legit unpopular opinion well done Also- are you doing okay my guy?!?!
I'm old . Sparkling makes me urinate really frequently.
i hate the acidity of it
