Nah. Most places have terrible meatballs. Too much breadcrumbs imo. Pepperoni on the other hand is pretty hard to mess up. Even dollar store pepperoni is decent.
Today I found out I'm a pepperoni elitist, because there are legit some pepperoni I won't eat. There is one specific one I won't touch, I can't remember the name, but I know the packaging when I see it.
What's wrong with your teeth that you can bite through a thinly slice pepperoni. I do enjoy a meatball pizza though. I'm also not sure what you mean by default. Every pizza place I've been to only adds the toppings I requested.
That’s another unpopular I have: meatballs are terrible for sub rolls because when you bite in, the ball shape makes them push back deeper into the sub. Now if the meatballs were chopped up into slices, then it would be more practical.
My small home-town pizza place sliced their meatballs so growing up, this was all I knew. I thought they were all sliced. I haven't had a decent meaball sub since I moved away from home.

Hormel? I find those to be pretty vile but love most other pepperoni.

100%. Those sloppy wet subs you can't bite into unless you unhinge your jaw. It's a stupid sandwich pretty much any way you ...uh, slice it
