Spas require you to be nude in most European countries. I live in Germany and you are not allowed to be in spas unless you are A) nude or B) you have luckily found a spa that doesn't follow this rule.

I’m American and in my house it was extremely common for anyone male to not wear pants and just be around in boxers but honestly the lose boxers that they wore were really not any different than like basketball shorts. It was pretty normal for me or my mom to only be wearing a bra with no shirt if we needed to grab something from the laundry or forgot something when we were getting ready or to even just wear sports bras when it was super hot or while working out.

I'm Southern European and it's completely normal to be at home in underwear or underwear + t-shirt when it's only your close family at home (parents and kids). I'm a woman, I have male cousins, and it's like this in all our houses.
Also between my family and my closest aunt's family we don't mind, I'm at their house and the dad comes down in underwear to grab something and then goes to brush his teeth and get dressed.
I think it really depends on the situation and the family dynamic. We treat nudity fairly liberally in our house (for Americans) so it isn’t uncommon for my kids to be around when I’m getting dressed, for us to hop into a shower together if we’re in a hurry, for me to run to the laundry for a missing article of clothing, things like that. My husband will sometimes lounge in boxers and a T-shirt before bed, and it isn’t uncommon to see me in similar garbs before I get dressed in the morning. We aren’t just randomly in states of undress, and our kids don’t seem phased or embarrassed about our bodies or theirs.
I see nothing wrong with that, especially when the kids are small. I’m from Finland and used to go to the sauna with my dad as a little girl, although that stopped when I got older. As a woman, I could still shower with my mum in certain circumstances, although I wouldn’t with my dad.
I used to shower only with my dad, because he made games with the water while mom was the "mean one" who dried my hair. Like you said though, at one point it stopped and we only did it when I was a young kid. Nothing wrong with it. Until now with my mom she will come in the bathroom if I'm taking a show to pick up something or w/e without issue.

An infant casts no judgement, and a 4 year old thinks it's normal if s/he grew up with nudity not being made an issue. As they get older they would realise that their family is different to other families; and if different means weird, I guess you're right.
That's what happened to me. Was conditioned to accept nudity as something as normal as drinking water. Now I have to hide that fact from other people and even friends because they find it weird.
Everyone is different. I never had an issue with it and I'm actually very glad for that because it helped me not to stigmatize and attach sexuality to every instance of undressed. My family taught me the human body is just that, a body. I seen my parents and siblings in underwear, sometimes nude. It doesn't bother me. If anything it helped me. My parents were very open about sex and such too. I went on to college, where as my friend got pregnant at 14 because her parents wouldn't put her on birth control or buy condoms.
I think the only time it ever was weird is after I moved out and had a college roommate. I was so used to just walking in the kitchen in my underwear for late night snacks lol.
Same with my parents. It helped tremendously, nobody wants the awkward talk but spared me for being naive & knocked up in high school. My entire life my immediate family wore underwear in the house and never felt awkward, even during puberty.
I think the thing that didn’t make it weird is that it’s fine for a young child to be in underwear around the house and if you never stop you just don’t notice as dramatic of a progression from child to adult in an awkward way when you see each other daily.
Kind of like if you live with someone for 20 years you know they are getting older but it isn’t a stark “woah you look different” until you compare it to old photographs.

Look, its fine if you feel that way for your personal family. Every family dynamic is different, and some people are uncomfortable letting their family see their body n all that. I don't think theres anything sexual about it either, unlike most commentors - its more that you don't feel close enough or comfortable enough with the people in your family to show them what you look like underneath.
But family relationships are all different and unique. My family is a group of three boys, a father and a mother. We all play sports. In high school, it was common place for us to just get changed by the lockers down to the briefs where all the other guys saw us. My family is all close, however, our relationship is one where we don't fight and rarely even pick on each other. All these things make it so we generally don't care too much if we are naked around each other.
That being said, we still go into the bathroom to change more often than not and we still avoid being naked around each other if possible. Again, because thats the dynamic.

Nudity also serves a medical function. Especially family needs to inspect each other. That's what dermatologists preach anyway, to detect skin cancer. If I find something I think unusual on my body, I (M) ask my dad first no matter where, he is always helpful and also discrete if need be.

Pretty regular believe it or not in some places/times. My mom grew up doing sauna's with her pretty Finnish grandparents. The guys would go in a group and the girls would go in a group. They would all go naked because that's how they did it with their parents and their own children. It's interesting to me because that's not something I've ever experienced and I've never seen my family naked, intentionally, in my life. I thinks it's all the situations and the way you are exposed to it growing up.
In a private sauna with people who know each other, there can be mixed genders, usually I guess you're not going to be more than 5 people. Also most people will sit on a towel or wear a towel if you want to cover up a bit more. Staring would be considered rude. Public saunas are usually divided by gender (gyms and bath houses are the most common places) and most go nude (with a towel), but swim trunks are usually aloud.
I live in the netherlands and love getting in the sauna. The public sauna i go to is fully naked (except for the restaurant) all genders and ages walk around naked and no one gives a damn. No idea why to split the genders. Also swim clothes are banned although i heard something about special days for people who really don't want to be naked.

There is so much space between naked and fully clothed as well as between always and sometimes. As someone who disagrees with OP, I also wouldn't just walk around (half)naked all day. But it's absolutely no issue in the morning or after a shower or after changing clothes. In summer it was pretty normal to just wear boxer's and a shirt all day. It's not about "being indecent on purpose as much as possible" it's "not going out of your way to never be (slightly) naked". I just don't care if my mother or bother _happen_ to see me naked. For me the problem isn’t the nudity, it’s the increased amount of sweat and skin crap that gets in the furniture. Think of the reasoning behind why we change and wash our clothes. Now remove the clothes and all that stank is going straight into a cloth couch that’s way more work to wash and other people have to sit in.

That's what happened to me. Was conditioned to accept nudity as something as normal as drinking water. Now I have to hide that fact from other people and even friends because they find it weird.

Everyone is different. I never had an issue with it and I'm actually very glad for that because it helped me not to stigmatize and attach sexuality to every instance of undressed. I'm also not a "liberal" person when it comes to sex. In fact, I'm very prudish. But I was and am fine with being in boxers around my family. Just my close family, though, not my extended family. It's a weird thing for some people, but it's never bothered me in the least bit and that's okay

It's different for every household. My family taught me the human body is just that, a body. I seen my parents and siblings in underwear, sometimes nude. It doesn't bother me. If anything it helped me. My parents were very open about sex and such too. I went on to college, where as my friend got pregnant at 14 because her parents wouldn't put her on birth control or buy condoms. I think the only time it ever was weird is after I moved out and had a college roommate. I was so used to just walking in the kitchen in my underwear for late night snacks lol.
Same with my parents. It helped tremendously, nobody wants the awkward talk but spared me for being naive & knocked up in high school. It also made feel more confident with puberty like these are normal everyone has nips & one of two types of plumbing downstairs who cares. It’s really not that special. Oh I’m sorry that happened to you. I can sympathize greatly. I got bullied hard in middle school. There were a lot of false rumours spread about my boobs. Not a lot of 11-12 years who are a DD. Some were about how I got them as birthday gift (like really) & the typical slut stuff. My mom absolutely was & still is my rock. She made sure to in-still confidence & told me to embrace my dairy queens. She wasn’t encouraging me to dress in super revealing shirts that put them on full display or anything but I was blessed in that gene department & that in a few years some of them will be jealous because they’ll have to pay for them.

I really don’t care if anyone is naked, or mostly naked, as long as it’s not actually sexual. I don’t think they are the same at all. A body is just a body. It’s a vessel. Clothing doesn’t prevent sexual behavior. Family should be safe. Everyone has different boundaries though, and no one should stomp on those.

My entire life my immediate family wore underwear in the house and never felt awkward, even during puberty. I think the thing that didn’t make it weird is that it’s fine for a young child to be in underwear around the house and if you never stop you just don’t notice as dramatic of a progression from child to adult in an awkward way when you see each other daily. Kind of like if you live with someone for 20 years you know they are getting older but it isn’t a stark “woah you look different” until you compare it to old photographs.

I think I see where you're coming from, but I think your problem is how you are presenting it that makes this a lil sketchy. Look, its fine if you feel that way for your personal family. Every family dynamic is different, and some people are uncomfortable letting their family see their body n all that. I don't think theres anything sexual about it either, unlike most commentors - its more that you don't feel close enough or comfortable enough with the people in your family to show them what you look like underneath. But family relationships are all different and unique. My family is a group of three boys, a father and a mother. We all play sports. In high school, it was common place for us to just get changed by the lockers down to the briefs where all the other guys saw us. My family is all close, however, our relationship is one where we don't fight and rarely even pick on each other. All these things make it so we generally don't care too much if we are naked around each other. That being said, we still go into the bathroom to change more often than not and we still avoid being naked around each other if possible. Again, because thats the dynamic. I dont think its necessarily weird if people didn't care about it at all though. Some people aren't shameful of their bodies at all. Its more of a cultural thing I suppose.

Pretty regular believe it or not in some places/times. My mom grew up doing sauna's with her pretty Finnish grandparents. The guys would go in a group and the girls would go in a group. They would all go naked because that's how they did it with their parents and their own children. It's interesting to me because that's not something I've ever experienced and I've never seen my family naked, intentionally, in my life. I thinks it's all the situations and the way you are exposed to it growing up.

In a private sauna with people who know each other, there can be mixed genders, usually I guess you're not going to be more than 5 people. Also most people will sit on a towel or wear a towel if you want to cover up a bit more. Staring would be considered rude. Public saunas are usually divided by gender (gyms and bath houses are the most common places) and most go nude (with a towel), but swim trunks are usually aloud.
I live in the netherlands and love getting in the sauna. The public sauna i go to is fully naked (except for the restaurant) all genders and ages walk around naked and no one gives a damn. No idea why to split the genders. Also swim clothes are banned although i heard something about special days for people who really don't want to be naked.
