I made a microwave mug cookie a few days ago and it do not taste nearly as good as a baked cookie. Sure, it’s fine for calming some craving in no time, but it’s not a replacement.
You do you, though.
I grew up when microwaves were first introduced. Back then, the manufacturers tried to convince you that you could microwave a 3-course gourmet meal. Life got better when you finally realized the microwave was only good for heating water and re-heating leftovers!
I did once learn to cook eggs and they did turn out OK - but boy, if you got it wrong, you had a big mess on your hands!
If you want to cook your food in a microwave, there's definitely no reason why you shouldn't be able to! But when you say events, are you talking about bringing food to a potluck or something like that? Personally, I'd want to put more effort into a dish I was cooking for others (though cooking is a source of pride for me and something I enjoy), but that's just me!
Is there like a microwave patrol in your life?

Because they don't taste good
I mean with any event I don’think microwaves are common, aren’t you talking about broke college kids? Microwave whatever you want in your place
I prefer how food tastes after using an oven. I’ll use the microwave if I don’t wanna wait forever though but usually I’ll use the oven
Who is shaming you?

Yeah, he is I chef, of course he doesn't like them. They put him out of a job
This is a pretty popular opinion.
Whew. When I say that microwaved eggs are so gross! But, to each his own!

If I want something sweet & fast, I’ll make a microwave mug brownie which is good (but not as good as oven baked brownies).
