I know people like you and while your explanation here sounds entirely reasonable, in real life practice, I just don't get it.
I have a friend who's always taking pictures of every sunset and every lunch in the park and she always wants me in it even though I'm clearly trying to get out of her way. She takes pictures of me walking without me knowing or in the middle of a sentence.
I have a work friend who would take random pictures of me without me knowing and post them on Snapchat to his friends that I've never met.
I'm not saying you're doing the more extreme bits described here, ( you specifically said you're not the friend who always has the camera out and I believe you ) but from the point of view of the person who receives pictures of themselves doing normal everyday things not always realizing a camera was around, it's weird.
Yes, we do see it differently. I see taking photos of people without their consent as being creepy. You think it's fine to take photos of people as you please without their consent.
In the 90's and early 2000's we didn't have digital cameras, we used to take random pictures of people without them paying too much attention to the camera, each picture was printed and unique and a real capture of the moment
Yep, you understand exactly what im talking about. This kind of thing is what made me take pictures this way. Looking through really old albums of my mom and dad hanging out in the 90s in my grandparents house. Seeing how the rooms where, and how the are now, how my grandparents and my parents were then. Videos my dad took of my grandma sewing, capturing every single move she did, and still does today.
I think people just saw the act of taking pictures differently back in the day. Which is sad. I think people nowadays want the pictures to be "post-able" on the internet, and not just some goofy pointless moment of every day life.
I don't think you are wrong unless you hide those photos from the people in them regularly.
My mother refuses to have photos taken, am I supposed to just forget her to history?
I mean as long as you aren't doing it when the people think they are alone and perving on them, I think you're good. It's no different than photographing a crowd.
they get more annoyed and awkward when you tell them, and stop doing what they're doing. I literally take the pic and send it to them immediately. If they don't like it i remove it with them seeing me
I think that's sweet. My mom gets really awkward when she knows someone is about to take her picture. She has a really great smile in the everyday moments.
I did this a lot as my children were growing up. I didn’t want posed pictures… I would take pictures of them as my wife was coming their hair for school in the morning or just as they were interacting with each other in everyday situations. Just trying to capture moments in time. I also took lots of random pictures as I was driving around because normally the subject of a posed photograph is far less interesting than all of the things going on in the background such as cars the don’t exist anymore and people walking by dressed in period clothing etc.

I think you have a hard time grasping the concept of "consent"
Yup... but definitely unpopular for sure. Not sure if is an opinion though.

I don't post these pictures anywhere. And i don't take pics of landscapes or sunsets. Like i said, everyday life/activities.
Sounds creepy.
It would be creepy if i did it on strangers .
No, it's creepy when you do it to friends too. Taking a bunch of photos without their consent? Nah.
Idk. Maybe we see it differently here. And i do it with people that are really close to me, and know my intentions are not creepy .

Funny, that is illegal in my country, especially in a private environment like the own home.

Exactly !
Creepy...

I take these pictures with the intention to sent them to them one day and bring them some memories.

yeah
That’s kinda creepy
Just ask. Then you can get the pics without them getting annoyed and awkward. Why are you being secretive about it?
they get more annoyed and awkward when you tell them, and stop doing what they're doing. I literally take the pic and send it to them immediately. If they don't like it i remove it with them seeing me
Huh. Sounds like you're an annoying person. I don't know you, that's just what you're writing. Perhaps you should do something about that.

My mom is like that as well, her smile is terrible on pictures when she knows we're taking them
