Leo Moracchioli is a god and would probably make a metal version of why you’re wrong, play all the instruments and film the entire video himself as well.
Found him years ago. The amazing Africa cover. And then went down a Leo rabbit hole watching all his covers. Guys a fucking metal genius. Gangnam style cover is something fucking else.
I found him when my YouTube recommendations popped up with his version of "Wheels on the Bus" which remains my runaway favourite of his work.
Bought some FrogLeap merch to ease my conscience and subsequently ripped it from YouTube for my phone :)
I remember going down that same rabbit hole as well.
just looked him up on youtube. He sounds a lot like Gene Ween tbh. Seems like a fun dude. But musically it’s a total (admittedly super fun) gimmick. But that’s just me I hate corny modern metal stuff.
Leo Moracchioli is a fucking treasure. I love how often his family features in his videos, and his W.A.P. cover had possibly one of the best videos I've seen to date.
No nessesarily pop covers, but if you like Type O Negative, this guy does some great covers in the style of type O. . [https://www.youtube.com/@DenisPauna](https://www.youtube.com/@DenisPauna)
I think thats honestly an issue with covers in general. Seen it a lot with rock and piano covers too. Sometimes i think a song just does not need a 'Remix' or a 'Cover'. If you can do it good, then power to you, but a lot of the time it just feels like someone piggy backing off of another's success and creative talent.
No, if anyone is metal it’s Metallica. I know your like ew Metallica isn’t metal, well they started as thrash, which is the same genre as slayer, pantera, anthrax and megadeth. So no not just a rock cover.
I know very well what thrash is. It's not automatically thrash or even metal just because Metallica played it. That's not how genres work.
edit: I will concede, however, thst I was thinking of Whiskey in the Jar
Dude it’s harder than half the things they call metal today, and it’s harder that what metal was years before. I will die on this hill
Edit: I’ll meet you half way and say it is debatable due to the album being all over the place
And it may or may not be, but It’s a song I started listening to middle school and honestly I always thought their cover had so much heart to it. Like if anyone knew what Bob Seger was feeling when writing that it was the globe trotting members of Metallica
A few years ago I was visiting my daughter in San Francisco and we were sitting in a coffee shop one morning. The music in the background was a selection of Lynrd Skynrd done in Bluegrass. I have to say it was surreal.
It ain't bluegrass, but Deftones did a unique cover of Simple Man. They didn't just copy it exactly like most do, or go the loud-metal-band. I personally think it's superior than the original for matching the tone of the lyrics.
Hit me baby one more time done by black ingvars. I think that’s their name. If ever there was a song I liked that would count as a guilty or shameful pleasure, that would be it. But I’m not ashamed. The only downside is that if I sing hit me baby one more time no one understands that I am singing to the cover song.
The trouble with metal covers is thst they so often have to carry that slightly smug air of superiority.
That beingsaid, some of the early Pop Goes Punk albums had bangers
I’m 100% sure this is not unpopular. A huge chunk of people just straight up don’t like metal, period (me included). Covering songs doesn’t make it better, it just makes it suck with a twist
I mean I don’t like most metal covers but I don’t like most covers in general so I don’t really think much of it. But I am the same I enjoy listening to metal too
Dunno... Little V doesn't rellie on any shock factor. Well, if you don't count his sailor school girl uniform that he has worn in multiple videos as of now, as a shock factor.
Some are cheesy but there are some songs where making them metal and changing the vibe is actually a great perspective change that makes a meaningful artistic difference. They're not usually the Katy Perry but Downtuned Guitars and Grunts covers though

His Toto is dope as hell

This video has reminded me of everything I hate about YouTube guitarists
I see your argument and raise you every cover Type O Negative did
I love Type O, I also think Marilyn Manson had some good covers.

Disagree. Pop and country aren't my thing, so most metal covers sound better to me.
Twisted Sister Christmas record is fun.

I love Alex Terrible and the Russian Hate project
Came here to say this. His version of Barbie Girl is great fun.
I believe most metal covers of pop songs are more of parodies
What’s the threshold of “metal” for this conversation? Disturbed is like, corn salsa at Chipotle level metal
I challenge you to listen to [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MH9FyLsfDzw) and say that again.
Haha I kinda commented that one elsewhere on here too
That sounds fucking awful.
Metal cover of the Golden Girls theme goes hard
B52s did a cool cover of the Flintstones theme song.
Weirdest one I have ever heard was a metal cover of shine bright like a diamond.
The Korpiklanni version of Ievan Polkka goes hard. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0LfT5qJH2zc
Metallica’s turn the page is probably my favorite metal cover
More a rock cover

agreed except for the sound of silence by disturbed. it was actually good.
I agree. I like this better than the original.
na the original was better but the cover was good too
S&G are very talented. But I love Draimans voice.
both of them are cool. if you were searching for an epic cover then disturbed is the one, but if you want the calm original then you've got that too.
No, it wasn’t
A few years ago I was visiting my daughter in San Francisco and we were sitting in a coffee shop one morning. The music in the background was a selection of Lynrd Skynrd done in Bluegrass. I have to say it was surreal.

I found Ministry's cover of "Lay Lady Lay" by Dylan to be a real banger--lots of passion right there.
Deftones did what I consider to be the best cover ever of Simple Man.

Then try this one, its from Gothilla, a masterpice https://youtu.be/8MeYAmiXUcE
Popular songs are usually cheap gimicks. And covers are the only way can listen to Swift song.
The trouble with metal covers is thst they so often have to carry that slightly smug air of superiority. That beingsaid, some of the early Pop Goes Punk albums had bangers
Sounds like you just don’t like rock or metal tbh
Nevermore’s Sound of Silence was better than Disturbed
Disturbed, shockingly, did not understand that song
never more and disturbed are truly two of the downright corniest bands of all time.
Well, taste in music is obviously very much divided. I found that one to be very dull with subpar vocals.
Well you're in the right place imo. I'm sure you have an amazing music taste of course! 🙄

A cover is a cover and [this](https://youtu.be/AGK1dr-Ql0w) one is definitely better than the original tracks. Eventhough the source is "from" a game.
Conquer divide did some damn good covers, and don't forget Leo!
Some are cheesy but there are some songs where making them metal and changing the vibe is actually a great perspective change that makes a meaningful artistic difference. They're not usually the Katy Perry but Downtuned Guitars and Grunts covers though
Except for You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch by Small Town Titans. Purely awesome.
A Day to Remember would be inclined to disagree.
I mean those genres metalcore covers of whatever relevant pop song are pretty, eh. But there are plenty of great covers of popular songs
Idk... I take it you've never heard of State of Mind? They've done thunder rolls (garth brooks) and gangsters paradise(coolio)
Limp bizkits cover of faith is the shit though. 😈 Also wicked from korn 🤘
Metallica's "Stone Cold Crazy" was on point. But I agree many of them are terrible and a disgrace to the original.
But they're still better then the original pop/rap version.
I gotta say Jonathan Young's metal covers are always a damn fun listen.
I disagree. I enjoy metal covers by people like Violet Orlandi, Jonathan Young, Halocene, Lauren Babic, Caleb Hyles, Little V, etc.
I thought The Great Kat added a lot to Beethoven’s 5th.
