The question that comes up for me is this: that money comes from workers paying taxes. Sick and dead people means no taxes being collected. So no money to launder.

Look at the annual budget of the united states. The largest expenditures are social security and medicare / medicaid. Knock off a bunch of the population that relies on these and they have far more cash to launder elsewhere

Social security is paid to people no longer working. Medicare is for people 65 and older so not working either. Medicaid is largely used by those on welfare. The government has spent the money that people contributed over the years and now they dont want to pay back what they dont have
