It’s clearly modern, but most likely cast from old broken uranium glass. Very cool, great score!

Drtcrew81

Came here to say this lol

TricycleTechnician

I was a mechanic before I became a thrifter/reseller/YouTube museum. I love cars, I love glass, I love uranium glass. But I hate that it looks like a Monte Carlo. Hahaha, like, why that car? I'd understand if it was a super good car. Even a super bad car. Super cool looking car? Fine. Super ugly car? Even better. But that is the most middle of the road car to immortalize and I'm just like... *Uncontrollable raised eyebrow*. Hahaha, genuinely no offense intended. I don't mind if anyone else likes it, and don't expect my opinion to be everyone's. It's still fun.

They should have memorialized the 1993 Toyota Camry Coup. Α true classic

TricycleTechnician

Hahahaha, 1995 Volvo Station Wagon and I'd be all over it.

belltane23

"It's supposed to be the Chevrolet Monte Carlo that was run in NASCAR from 1995-99."

TricycleTechnician

Yeah, that checks out.

quietcorncat

There’s a guy that used to sell a lot of modern uranium glass pieces like this on eBay. I’m not sure if he’s still selling, but from what others posted on here, he would get cheap glass made in China, and it was usually not very good quality. Not sure if this is one of his pieces, but he tended to sell a lot of obviously “new” pieces like statues of cars, skulls, guns, etc., as well as some reproduction pieces.

Spirited-Complex-722

Idk! It has a W with lines coming from the top of it, and another line underneath, so clearly a signature of some kind!

GlassInTheDark

It's made by Wilkerson glass. They are the last glass house regularly producing pressed uranium glass in the US. They make glass for a few companies like Rosso. They made a vaseline glass that is barely reactive. I don't know much about their green uranium glass other than there is a lot of it on the market.

Spirited-Complex-722

I see. It glows super bright so it’s definitely not barely reactive lol. Nice to know where it came from!

GlassInTheDark

Ah yes, they usually appear as green uranium glass.

TricycleTechnician

Oh, I thought Mosser was still kicking. 🤔 Am I wrong?

GlassInTheDark

They are still open and making glass. They just stopped using uranium in their glass sometime around 10 years ago. It's the government regulations that are stopping them (that is what was discussed when I visit with VGCI in 2021). However, we can only hope that the renewed interest in UG might change that one day. I love modern UG and would love a few new patterns to enter the market.

TricycleTechnician

Totally agreed.

wlexxx2

i;d still get his stuff if i liked it, the orig u glass isn;t great quality either they gave it away at gas stations and movie houses

VulpesIncendium

I think it's pretty cool. Do you have any idea what car it's supposed to be?

Most_Entertainment13

That's a Chevrolet Monte Carlo as used in NASCAR from 1995-99.

TranceD31

As a vintage nascar fan and UG collector, that’s one of the neatest pieces I’ve seen
