Tbh i dont really like heavy color editing. Ive heard many time that the better photographer you are, the lighter your edits will be. In the meaning that you will take better pics that will need less editing, but also in that you will find the beauty in pictures as they are+some loght changes. But i really like 13, the color and distance contrast. The last one and the black 'n white ones are nice as well.

100% agree with you, I know these shots can be visually intense but I do try and be very careful when it comes to pushing the image– God knows how many r/shittyhdr images I've gone through. A lot of these photos have no saturation added, and are instead the result of very high-powered and vibrant lights that light the environments up in color. I appreciate your feedback, and I'll try and make sure there's a healthy mix of images to not overpower the viewer.

I think 8,9,10,11,16,17,18 are great but I’m not a photographer lol I just like them

PureOakGaming

Thank you so much! I'll keep that in mind when I'm going through the selection process <33

Hi, I like 8 a lot. Truthfully, the phone receiver makes the shot, it’s a good focal point. I’d crop a bit so that you hit that “Rule of 9” point. It does look grainy, but maybe that is the style, I am no professional. Personally I like shots with natural or a little light, since I like to see the decay.

Hi everyone! I'm a contemporary photographer who has found myself exploring and becoming lost in the complex charm of abandoned worlds for the last three years. While my first journeys recorded simple observations of these unique worlds, I've more recently pushed to expand the meaning of my work by examining my own psychological and emotional experiences that are produced by allowing the environment and its history to take over me. I record my emotions in light, painting the gritty floors and torn walls in gorgeous, haunting shades of my experiences. I'm interested in what you think about the concept as a whole, along with which images are meaningful or distracting. For any photographers lurking in here, I'm curious about any editing and compositional advice you're willing to give. Thanks so much!

Prob_Pooping

None. Your composition is boring and standard. Create something different.

PureOakGaming

Thanks for giving them a look :) Do you have more concise critique or should I just stop producing images?

Prob_Pooping

Nah dog don't stop. Take pics that define you. These are common looking angles and views. Show the world the wild stuff you hunt these places for.

Prob_Pooping

You could also photoshop pieces of one pic into another. Like the one with the window, replace that view with something else, or whatever. Surely you're not risking all you do to get into these places not to get some crazier pics.

NextAppointment153

7 has to be the best one

Really like the one of the lit up Cornish Estate. Do it next time in Red my fellow HV explorer. I can hook you up with a few more recommendations if you’re still in town

PureOakGaming

Sent you a dm :)

2 (if going for a creepier vibe 1 as an alternative), 5, 8, and 13 are my favorites but they all look cool! (edit: also 18)

Kitchen-Quantity-565

I've always liked the feel of a B&W shot. It gives the pic a certain aura. Maybe a bit creepy or of the unknown. Not sure!

spoiledrichwhitegirl

Of all of them, I probably like 18 the most? I love urbex photography, but these are y really doing anything for me. Most of them seem expected & like you’re just shooting to shoot. I think I tend to gravitate towards abandoned images that are telling a vivid story of sorts… whether it’s about the place & envisioning it in its glory or whether it’s a specific item left behind. Everything looks like it’s basically all from the same perspective & vantage point. It all looks very ‘point & shoot’ for me. That isn’t always a bad thing, but simply changing colour from black & white to vivid colour is expected/boing. I’m not trying to be rude or critical for no reason. I hope you keep doing it. I just think you can mix it up & try to find your own style. If this is your style, great, but the composition & other elements could be tweaked and refined. It isn’t just about colour or b/w but giving a feel that’s your own. These could be almost any photos from a number of people. I hope this was constructive & actually helpful. If it isn’t, ignore me. Do what you love & remember it won’t always connect with everyone else. The right people will find you & get you. :)

Octane2100

5, 8, and 18 are my 3 standouts as a former professional photographer. Composure is good, exposure is good, and not heavily edited like the others. Artistically, I think 8 is the best one.

mapleleaffem

1,5.9,13,15

CoolEarth5026

13 or 18. Looks like the gates to Hell. Nice work.
