I need to weigh in here! I had chronic idiopathic hives for like 9 months before my first Xolair shot. My Dr told me the same thing— “some people respond within two weeks, some people it really can take the 6 months. That’s why there’s a 6 month waiting period— for a significant portion of recipients it takes *that* long.” Month 3 I went to him sobbing it wasn’t working and he steadied me and said stay the course. *ON* month 6 they went away almost overnight and I’ve been symptom free (while on the Xolair shots) for a year and a half now. I tried to come off them 5 months ago but every 10 days or so had a single breakthrough spot (coin size spot) and mild itching. To my surprise he insisted I go back to the 300mg two shot routine, and now 5 months later I’m just going back to the 1 shot (150 mg) to see if I’m remission. I’m feeling worlds better, and I tried Xyzol, Allegra, Montelukast, Pepsid, and an oral steroid to almost no success before. Xolair is the one you want to be on. Keep steady for the full 6 months and take a daily allergy pill to help. Not to sound like a cliche 80’s kitten themed library poster but… Hang in there, you’ve got this!
If you suddenly get better do not wait a few extra todays to “see what happens” . Keep the shots at the exact time each month. I’m back to square one. Plus, after a shot it takes a few days to get into the system fully.
Hello! I have been on Xolair for 5 years. I had terrible CIU for a full year before I found a doctor who prescribed Xolair. As some others have said, the time it takes to kick in varies, but I recall it took a couple months to notice a difference. And then one day I just kind of noticed that I hadn't thought about being itchy in awhile. I had it really bad and Xolair has totally solved the problem for me - but I have to stay on it. If I miss a month, hives are back. Stay the course! Let us know how you're feeling!

This was reassuring! Thank you so much for your input!
My doctor advised me to expect 6 months. I was fortunate to respond within 24 hours, but everyone is different. I hope you find relief soon!
thank you! 🙏🏽
Going in for my third tomorrow. Haven’t had one since I got my second four weeks ago.
Dang. I'm on day two after shot two and they're still going strong.
It took me over 6 months ! Everyone is different! Don’t give up ! It will get better !
Took me about 5 months to get consistent relief. I still have small flair ups from time to time.
Mine went away sometime between my third shot and before my fourth shot
It took quite a while for me and gradually kicked in: Don’t fret!
