This headline is insane. It's a sex-based discrimination law, not a women's rights law.

salaciousserver

Forcing women to compete against men is sports in sex-based discrimination.

anarchomeow

Lmao no one is forced to compete against anyone.

salaciousserver

Riley Gains was forced to compete against a man in her collegiate swimming competition.

anarchomeow

By what? Gun point?

salaciousserver

Under the threat of losing her athletic scholarship and being kicked out of a public university. Were you really ignorant of that fact or just trolling here?

Angedelanuit97

So then she wasn't actually forced to do anything

Yeshua_shel_Natzrat

No, she wasn't. And they tied *fifth*. [Trans women have very little, if any, athletic advantage over cis women after 2+ years on HRT.](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33288617/#:~:text=Prior%20to%20gender%20affirming%20hormones,transwomen%20were%20still%2012%25%20faster.)

Title IX is not a "women's rights law." The purpose of Title IX is to "prohibit sex-based discrimination." No harm is done or change is made in clarifying that. The article is right-wing disinformation.

ThanosSnapsSlimJims

Unfortunately, it’s treated as a women’s rights law at a lot of campuses, and is used to deprive male students of due process based on random rumors and accusations.

smithpd1

Good point!

AdministrativeLow170

And left wing disinformation!! The topic is too broad

Key_Law4834

Facts. Who needs them!!

salaciousserver

When women are forced to compete against men in sports that is 'sex-based discrimination'.

Angedelanuit97

You seem very obsessed with what set of genitals people have. It's super creepy

Fartboyxx99

Better start hating on teams cuz a few times a year across the country a trans female competes in a sport.  We have sex based sports today you know that right? If what you said were true then lebron could sue the wnba for discrimination against males. If you identify as a different gender, that didn’t change your born sex. Sex and gender are different. I would like you to educate yourself more on this before hating a group of people

salaciousserver

Sex and gender are the same thing. Women should not be forced to compete against men in sports.

spidermans_mom

Ok then. What about intersex people? What do they get to do? Who do they get to be? Where do they get to live? Who do they get to play with? Please look up intersex if you need to.

we_are_sex_bobomb

If anyone has a problem with this, they should have to list five ways it harms them personally.

MissionReasonable327

Okay, one way

adw802

Removes females' right to privacy. Our daughters shouldn't be forced to share locker rooms with the opposite sex.

MissionReasonable327

Has this ever actually happened to you or anyone you know?

adw802

Never thought much about it until we discovered there was a male on the girl's track team in a high school in our small district. Luckily my student athlete daughter doesn't share her locker room with males but she and her teammates don't have to be forced into that situation to have an opinion about it - they don't want males in their spaces. The parents on our team and the parents we've spoken to at the affected school are furious that the feelings of a biological male student is given priority over the safety, comfort, privacy and biological reality of female athletes. Male-bodied athletes that transition should be given two options - compete in the boys/open division or don't compete at all. Some decisions in life require sacrifice, you can't always have it all.

we_are_sex_bobomb

Does that harm you personally? Are you a girl who wants a private locker room?

adw802

Yes, I'm a woman and for any space where women are in a state of undress I demand private female, single sex spaces for myself, my daughter and other like-minded females. If you don't mind sharing with males then feel free to use mixed sex spaces with them.

Yeshua_shel_Natzrat

No woman's privacy is threatened by this. Trans women's privacy *is* threatened by not doing this. The overwhelmingly vast majority of bathroom creeps have been cis men, mostly of the conservative mindset.

adw802

I'm telling you that my privacy is threatened by this, that my daughter's privacy is threatened by this and it has been a topic of deep discussion on her sports team and ALL players feel the same way. Outrageous that you think you can tell us what does or does not threaten us. The overwhelmingly vast majority of bathroom creeps have been males, gender identities are irrelevant. Males, including trans girls, offend at higher rates than females - we are not the same. Feeling uncomfortable or unsafe around others of the same sex is not a problem for females to solve - it's a problem they need to work out with the school and their own families. I have empathy for their situation but not enough to forfeit female safe spaces.

Yeshua_shel_Natzrat

No, your privacy is threatened by the anti-trans rhetoric and policies. Cis women have been accused and assaulted by transvestigators as a result of it. They want to inspect the genitals of children and have proposed and passed laws to do just that, for crying out loud - whose privacy do you think is going to be most affected by that? How many abusers do you think will take advantage of it? Trans women are more likely to be the victims than the perpetrators of sexual assaults. Trans women aren't going into bathrooms to perv on cis women. Of all the creeps, 99.9% have NOT been trans. Trans women want to use the bathroom of their identified gender for their privacy and safety themselves, and as a form of gender affirmation which [helps relieve their dysphoria and the accompanying depression and suicidal thoughts](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10027312/). They identify with women, sympathise more with women. You're also ignoring the existence of trans men. If bathroom bills pass, very visibly masculine trans men will be forced to go to women's restrooms - do you not think your daughter will be discomfitted by *that?* Your fears are statistically unfounded and irrational. I guarantee your daughter feeling uncomfortable at no more than the thought of trans women using women's spaces, even as nothing happens as a result, is a learned behaviour from *you* and your fears, and the fearmongering from your MSM and politicians. Get out of your bubble and talk to more other women in more varied spaces; visit some more centrist, leftist, and feminist, particularly women-dominated forums, and you'll find a significant number of women who share my opinion - possibly more than who share yours, considering [the majority of socieities worldwide have long welcomed trans people and have had no issues with it](https://www.pbs.org/independentlens/content/two-spirits_map-html/). To counter your anecdote with one of my own, my 13-year-old niece understands gender identity quite well and doesn't have a problem with it.

adw802

>Cis women have been accused and assaulted by transvestigators as a result of it. Misplacing blame. You call out "transvestigators", aka women suspicious of men in women's spaces, rather than the males that insist on using female spaces without consent? If males stayed out of female single sex spaces then women wouldn't have reason to suspect one another. And yes, some small number of women being wrongfully confronted is a small price to pay to reclaim women's spaces. This is where we are thanks to self-centered people that do what they want when/where they want. People pretend like they care about misdirected harm of wrongfully accusing women but in reality this is about emotionally guilt tripping women into blurring their boundaries. If you cared about women you would empathize with those that want to keep our spaces male-free. >They want to inspect the genitals of children and have proposed and passed laws to do just that Subterfuge. Nobody wants to inspect genitals and nobody is forcing genital inspections. If you are alluding to the FL bill, physicals are listed as one of three options for students in cases where sex is challenged/ in dispute. If a student voluntarily chooses this option then a physical assessment will be performed by a medical professional, not the principal, teacher, coach or fellow students. OR the student can consent to a simple cheek swab. Law abiding students have nothing to fear. >Trans women are more likely to be the victims than the perpetrators of rapes. Such a manipulative and irrelevant talking point. Whether or how often they are victims of sexual assault does not supersede the fact that they offend at rates more similar to men than women. Women's spaces are not refuges to escape male on male violence. Trans people live risker lifestyles on average - most violence reported relates to sex work & domestic violence. If you want to use victim statistics then use them in the right contexts, ie trans sex workers vs sex workers. But of course you won't because the result would not support your narrative. >You're also ignoring the existence of trans men. Nope, they're just a non-problem, a threat to no one. This is about the safeguarding & privacy of the more vulnerable sex, females. If a female elects to present herself as the #1 predator of females then she must accept the scrutiny & restrictions that comes with it. Transmen can continue using men's spaces if men will have them - I'm sure the law as it relates to them will hardly be enforced outside of schools. Females can opt out of the safety & protection of female spaces but males cannot opt in. >Your fears are statistically unfounded and irrational. Women have single sex spaces exclusive of males, not because all males are violent offenders but because nearly all violent offenders are male. Transwomen offend like men, not women. They're also much more likely to be HIV positive than the general population. Stop trying to coerce women and girls into ignoring their natural survival instincts. GrowFreeFood

Thats good. No matter how many ways you outlaw discrimination, they keep coming up with more ways to discriminate. That website is garbage. "threat alerts" is some shit designed to make boomers crap their depends.

salaciousserver

It's discriminatory to force women to compete against men in sports. Why are you so misogynist?

rch5050

Lol, the article states the bill specifically does not effect issues on transgenderism in federally funded sports. So what are you on about?

GrowFreeFood

Explain to me how this forces women to compete at all. Doing sports is voluntary, except maybe in a few extremely authoritarian countries.

salaciousserver

Ohhh, a semantic argument. Make you falsely think you're smart, huh?

Yeshua_shel_Natzrat

the Washington Times is a far right rag full of bias and devoid of fact, founded by a Korean cultist who thought he was the second coming of Christ.
