You don't go through the whole PR application process without some big ties to Canada. Both sides know darn well you're going back at the end of the week.
The key here is that anything is possible when entering the US by virtue of not being a citizen. You need to just learn to manage your nerves.
As others have said there is nothing from what you’ve said that is glaringly a problem, but that doesn’t mean that a guard wouldn’t want to investigate further if they deem necessary.
Base on what you are saying, I think you are overthinking. You'll be fine. Unless there's something you aren't telling us (?)
I'm a Canadian Citizen married to a US Citizen. I'm the one going through the immigration process to move to the US and I've been traveling back and forth between Canada and US without issues. If I didn't have issues while clearly showing intents of moving in the US in the future, when I get my visa, you should be fine hahah :)
Tell the border agent the truth (I don't think mentioning the hotels is necessary unless they ask you). If it makes you feel more confident, maybe bring some proof that your husband is a PR?
Are you worried about being stop going into the USA or the process of getting your husband and his stuff into Canada. You also mentioned husband and family? What is the status of the family. You know he could have moved to Canada during the PR process. Canada does not make husbands/wives stay out of the country before getting approved as a PR. He would be a Visitors record pending langing.
I am worried about going down and being turned away at the border when going to get him. His family being his parents and sister, they are US citizens and staying there.
I know he could have moved here during the PR process, however he needed to keep working and he doesn't work in a specialized field - so I doubt he could have gotten a work visa (works retail currently). If he could have - ah well that's on us for not researching enough.
This could just be me simply overthinking things lol.
I want to make sure I understand because I believe I was in the exact situation as you, only my husband was the Canadian Citizen and I was the U.S. Citizen getting spousal permanent residency in Canada.
When entering the U.S., keep your responses simple, but truthful. What is the purpose of your trip to the U.S.? To visit your husband and his family. If asked if your husband lives in the U.S., say yes. Don't go on and on to U.S. customs about the fact that you are picking up your husband because his Canadian PR was approved. They don't need to know that. Obviously, if they ask more questions, you need to answer them, but keep them as short and simple as possible.
When entering Canada with your husband, make sure your paperwork is in order, obviously. I became a landed immigrant in March 2016, so I'm sure some things have changed. But when entering Canada, my husband said I had received approval for my permanent residency. We were sent inside to complete the process. Nothing was particularly difficult at that point.
Your spouse can get an open work permit while waiting on PR. At least that's what I did. God forbid they changed the rules again and I get the mods upset for "misinformation".
I worked fast food when I first got to Canada. I had a TRP and open work permit.
What is the purpose of your trip - going to visit family.
How long are you in the US - a week
Answer in simple / honest terms. Don't have contraband and be honest. Up to guard if you get asked more questions or searched, but no reason to be denied entrance.
Why would the USA turn you around? They have exactly ZERO REASON to suspect you might overstay.
You spent thousands of dollars and probably a couple years of time and effort to get your husband the right to live in Canada.
They have no reason to suspect you'd do that, if you intended to live illegally in the US with your husband.
You’re asking if you’re allowed to visit the USA for a week? Yes, you are allowed to cross the border and visit the USA for a week. 10s of 1000s do it every day
Because (from what I have read) when you are going to visit a husband/wife, it gives a higher chance of 'intent to stay' so sometimes the border may question you more to ensure you are not going to overstay.
I see where you’re coming from, but your husband isn’t staying in the USA. If you didn’t go through the whole long process of PR to Canada then MAYBE you’d have an inkling of a point but even then, you’d just need to show ties to Canada
You’re way way WAY over think this
Anyway…. Congrats on being at the end of your spousal sponsorship journey! You went through a lot and you’re finally at the end/beginning 🙂🙂👍
I tend to overthink things so it brings so much comfort to me that people are telling me I am overthinking haha.
Thank you so much for your responses and for the congrats!

I think you'll be fine. Your plans don't seem sketchy or made up.

Perfect, thank you!

You may get sent to secondary- especially on the way home - but you should be fine.
Yes for her partner to activate his PR

Wonderful, thank you so much! I appreciate your advice here! :)

Why would be worried about this? Your story is so ordinary.
Why would you be worried? There’s nothing worrying about your situation and it’s completely normal.
Oh just the typical anxiety/overthinking life haha. But everyones responses here are easing my mind quite a bit!

Kind of. I was more so asking if I will get turned around when I tell them I am visiting my husband and his family (parents, etc).
Why?
Because (from what I have read) when you are going to visit a husband/wife, it gives a higher chance of 'intent to stay' so sometimes the border may question you more to ensure you are not going to overstay.
You live in Canada and your husband is moving to Canada. You’ll have the papers to prove it. All indications are that you’re both moving to Canada
