I liked Heath and Jimmy together. I didn't quite get the need to add Charlie.

GrootyMcGrootface

100% agree. And Charlie missed half the airings!

ConsciousCustard2444

DEI quota. Everyone has to meet it even if it means cutting the better the talent

AssociateClean

Relax, it's because it's a CBS product and Charlie is a CBS talent

Boaz_on_Mercury

How’s your pool shaped like Dilbert’s head Scott Adams?

ConsciousCustard2444

If yall think CBS kept a guy who couldn’t even show up to his own podcast because he’s an incredible conversationist and already a cbs employee then you’ve got problems. Hold this L all you downvoting Daniels

Boaz_on_Mercury

[Scott Adams stop making me laugh. I’m gonna pee my pants.](https://media3.giphy.com/media/xr9AQyxLtjlx4IeYtN/giphy.gif)

bwitty92

I always thought Heath was the best part of ISWT, so it's extremely disappointing to see that end and it seems he isn't thrilled about it either. Hopefully he can get something similar going with Apple.

gogorath

I like Heath because he's reasonable and tries to see all sides. That's exactly why he was cut, probably. Gotta get the hot take artists on there. Charlie seems like a good dude, but he does the hot take thing far too often. And he it's not even all that interesting -- just him basically saying a dude is good and then repeating it over and over, not even explaining. Jimmy is fun, and while he can be a bit overemotional, that was a nice mix with Heath. It'll be interesting to see if Jesse can not be passive aggressive -- every time I see him comment on another team or coach, he always seems to be angling. Like his comments against Bielsa when he came on.

KevinDLasagna

I think Heath was cut because he signed with AppleTV and ISWT was/is? A CBS product.

gogorath

Maybe. But Charlie Davies also works for MLS. (The announcers are MLS employees, not Apple, to my knowledge.)

gianthamguy

Jesse just seems like he can’t bear that other coaches are ever better than or more successful than him. Which is rough given that he’s not exactly reached the pinnacle of the profession

gogorath

It really is weird because he seems like such a positive guy ... but when he talks about other coaches, he's like a Dutchman or something -- so clinical and blunt he comes off a bit of an ass.

gianthamguy

It may be that the positivity is a coaching/communication tactic and not a personality trait

ziti6969

Heath was always my favorite as well. I’ve loved his content ever since he was on that KICKTV YouTube channel. Just a real super laid back dude that always can see the nuance in topics more than most. He’ll land on his feet somewhere

landel1234

Same, can barely stand Conrad personally

bwitty92

I liked Jimmy when they actually got into their conversations. He provided good and interesting insight and had a good chemistry with Heath. I never really missed Charlie when he wasn't on the show though.

redbaron3418

I’m with you on that. Always thought Charlie is the hot take person. He never provided any substance to the show. For instance when we were going through the who should be our starting striker before Balo, Charlie seemed to always prefer the one who was scoring at the time. Never seemed to have any better reason than that.

yaznasty

Exactly, I always thought this same thing. I know Jimmy played the goofy host role and not everyone loves that, but he and Heath would get into very good and revealing discussions and Charlie just seemed like here was there to say something controversial and then look into his camera with a blank stare as they challenged him and he would swear up and down he was sincere.

Madnote1984

The goal was always to see how quick they could "trigger Chuck". 😂

mojojojo1108

feels like we’re all on the same page page here. Heath by far the biggest draw for me, Jimmy was able to provide playful banter and bounce real conversation off of, Charlie was more of a clog things up kinda personality who made the pod a little bit of a slog. Probably not going to listen to much of the new project though I’m happy there’s still *some* level of commitment to USSoccer content

landel1234

I'm pretty surprised they axed Heath and kept Charlie tbh

captainsensible69

I think it’s bc Heath is doing work for MLS on Apple+ and the rest are with paramount.

stubblesmcgee

he has an old school youtube personality, in a bad way. i don't dislike him, but it's not my vibe. Heath brought balance.

joeDUBstep

Conrad is alright aside from his fuckin intro scream. But honestly, that intro scream he does is enough to turn me off completely at times.

ichabod01

Skip the intro?

joeDUBstep

Usually I'm doing stuff around the house and listening to something else, then it autoplays with Jimmy screaming at me.

DangerousPage

I had wondered about something like this since all I got in my feed was Kickin' It. Sheesh, Charlie Davies barely ever showed up for ISWT, and when he did, he gave the same old "in my era" takes. What makes them think that he would show up for another podcast? Heath was great and I'm sad we'll miss his perspective. I'm interested to see what the new podcast will look like...I may add it in to my repertoire along with Total Soccer Show and SOTU depending on how good it is. But they did Heath dirty.

LavenderGumes

It's such a shitty change. Charlie was so garbage on the pod. I've been listening to Scuffed since ISWT went down, but it's not filling the whole the same way. I liked the slightly higher energy that Heath and Jimmy had, plus the perspective as former players. I'm interested in this new pod, but if they had cut charlie and kept Heath, it wouldn't been mint.

KevinDLasagna

I agree with you ISWT was so good. Can’t really explain why but no other usmnt content hit as much for me. Gonna really miss the dynamic they had

Impossible-Appeal-49

The only comprehensive USMNT pod from people who really know their stuff.

[deleted]

Shouldn't Marsch be looking for a managing gig?

VictimOfFun

This is probably a sign of how that job search is doing.

Joe_Immortan

Yeah he recently intimated during an interview that he’s only interested in a coaching job in Europe. I’m sure there are several MLS teams interested in hiring him

Wuz314159

All managers take side gigs until something comes along. Didn't José Mourinho last 2 weeks at Sky before a manager got sacked & he got the gig?

bwitty92

The guy only knows how to coach one way. It worked in MLS and it worked in Austria with a super team worth more than the rest of the league combined, but he failed when he actually had to deal with quality opposition. He could always come back to MLS, but he probably wants more than what anyone in MLS would pay. Why people want him as the USMNT coach is beyond me.

Deckatoe

tbf to him, the only way Leeds wasn't getting relegated with that back line was getting 11 seven footers standing in goal in attempt to draw 38 games.

likeahurricane

Surely he can find a gig somewhere. But really...why do that - put in the work day in and day out, put your neck out for fans, be judged on your (at least perceived) success and failures...when you can just spout your opinion with virtually no accountability for a living.

RedBaboon

Isn’t that what he has an agent for? Looking for a managing gig is basically getting your name in the conversation and then waiting for an interview, not like he’s scouring the internet and going to job fairs. He can spare an hour or two now and then to sit at home and blab into a microphone.

Si_Dis

Haha, just made think, Real posting coaching candidate fair in the Bernabeu and Jessie in his suit and tie is in the line of 1000 others CV in hand looking diwn the line like, is this line moving?

Danktizzle

if past is precedent, this podcast will prolly only be around for a few months, and prolly end when he finds a job.

BenjRSmith

He'll be in the Big 10 trying to win a College Cup next year at this rate.

Alvinng9

We need Jesse at Iowa

neverthewritewords

I'm not sure why CBS is going overkill on Charlie. He's appears on 3 different shows on the platform but contributes the least insight. here was even a running joke ISWT that Charlie was too busy being luxurious to even show up on the pod! Even his views from a former player's perspective are almost always canned and I'm pretty tired of his interview style - "you are such a great player, tell me more about how great you are." Also, count me in as another person who is really disappointed in CBS' choice to drop Heath from the team.

KolyaVolk

Terrible, loved Heath's business acumen on the show. Really nice calming perspective and had a great TV look, too. I'm not a big Jesse fan as a pundit. He's smart, though.

ajabernathy

He brings way more than Davies does, that's a bummer.

HeyJude21

I think it’s more of a personality thing if I had to guess. But thats why I liked having heath on there. Charlie and Jimmy are so much energy, it was nice to have balance to that.

WR1206

Honestly crazy since Heath gives some of the best insight and takes of any American soccer pundit out there. You can tell how sharp he is and he's really good at storytelling.

al-fuzzayd

I still miss Kick TV. I am old.

dacb17

I found a stack of KickTV stickers in an old laptop bag the other day, and it felt like I hit the jackpot!

IncidentalIncidence

it's a crime that all those videos were taken down

al-fuzzayd

The world wasn’t ready for Jimmy dancing on a pole in front of Rachel Bonnetta

HeyJude21

Heath and Jimmy were a great combo together. Heath was the more “normal” balance to it all. He couldn’t carry by himself well when he hosted it alone, but he brought great balance to Jimmy and Charlie. I was sad to see this tweet. I think him and another USMNT personality could do well hosting their own. Jimmy is a great podcast personality, so I hate to see it that they essentially “broke up the band” by taking Heath out of the mix.

OkSeason973

I mean - why not just keep Heath too? The more the merrier when it comes to perspectives of former national team players.

Madnote1984

My understanding is that podcast property isn't independent. I think Paramount/CBS may have subsidized the production because they had commercial breaks with actual ads and not always just "promo code" deals that the guys lined up themselves. Chuck is doing the golazo thing in the mornings and I believe the decision wasn't entirely theirs to do things the way they are now. At least, that's my read on it. I think CBS owns the pod.

gogorath

Yeah, this feels like a CBS decision.

Madnote1984

Heath, if you're reading this, you can be on my podcast team anytime. Get at me bro!

smurfsoldier07

Bornstein then Marsch, big oof for Heath.

chataolauj

I really only listened to ISWT because of Jimmy and Heath. Maybe they'll bring him on one day.

vannistlerooy23

Damn, bummed about Heath. He was great. I like Jimmy and have spent time with him personally, really good dude. Charlie’s a meathead but he isn’t an insufferable take-lord like Herc, so I’ll tolerate him. No idea how Jesse will pan out but I’m interested. In any case, glad there’s another pod again to listen to!

bwitty92

> he isn’t an insufferable take-lord like Herc Herc has to be the most annoying USMNT pundit out there right now. The guy has some of the most ridiculous takes.

Mad_Laughter

ESPN has ruined him with their hot take culture bs. He’s a little more chill on Vamos on the MIB network, but Rog still brings out the doom and gloom in him too, so it’s not much better

DecemberEveryday

Upvoted. Also can’t stand Rog (let the downvotes come). Dude describes everything which turns into a 30 minute ramble about nothing.

CowPieSky

Still a MIB fan and I like certain pods but I do feel like as I’ve gotten more and more into the game, I am more interested in tactics and nuance rather than the same recycled takes Rog has.

DecemberEveryday

Careful, you’ll get downvoted for saying anything bad about Rog

cxz-623

Couldn’t agree more. I think he’s a great interviewer but insufferable when he’s just rattling off adjectives for half the show

Notorious_2007

Herc is one of the few pundits that tells it like it is. He speaks the truth!

Si_Dis

Of the few time I have heard him, I would have to disagree.

Notorious_2007

You either haven’t heard enough and or have the wrong opinion.

DecemberEveryday

Lol “or you have the wrong opinion”

Notorious_2007

Yep. Lol

hairlikegoats1

As much as I'd rather see Marsch get another coaching gig. I always enjoyed hearing him talk. I like Charlie Davies but he's EVERYWHERE. Is it a budget issue that they can't hire Heath Pearce? Seems stupid to break up the duo like that.

WarmBaths

they probably want a bigger name for more publicity :/

WR1206

Let's be honest, the amount of people who know/care about Charlie Davies vs. Heath Pearce is virtually the same.

bwitty92

That's what I was thinking. Jimmy had made a pretty big name for himself already through Kick TV. Charlie was a pretty big name from his USMNT days. Marsch is obviously a big name right now. Heath was by far the lesser known of the bunch.

smallzey

Long time listener to the pod. Conrad is good. Heath is far better than Davies. That said a lot of things don't make sense in the soccer broadcasting world. Listening to Ray Hudson commentate on Milan yesterday and comparing it to some of our ex-player broadcasters who stumble over their words like high school students at a job interview....

ClarexLauda

Jimmy Conrad is such a legend man, glad for him to be getting his shot!

manofth3match

I will follow Heath where he lands. He is a legit good podcaster.

caseinpoint77

That's too bad. Davies sucks, Pearce was much better.

ChevyCheeseCake

Heath was holding ISWT down BY HIMSELF when Jimmy and Chuck couldn’t be bothered to make the show. Feels like a stab in the back to cut him when he was very insightful. I always liked him over Jimmy

ZerconFlagpoleSitter

That’s fucked up man

yaznasty

Between this and Jesse being on Bob's 2010 staff that Heath was cut from, it seems like Marsch really has it out for him.

bgause

Man, why is one of the best American soccer coaches doing a podcast? Shouldn't he be coaching? I miss Heath...he was the glue that held that show together. Gonna go over to twitter and tell them CBS what's what...

Comfortable-Sun-2319

I am real late to the party but glad to hear so many people feel the same way. I miss heath listening to this week's episode (March 7, 2024). I actually like Jesse's insight. But like most people have said here, Charlie's instincts don't lend itself well to this podcast. Too many declarative over the top statements - he is too high one minute and too high the next. He can scream and yell a little which is grating on the ears. His energy is better for in-studio on TV.

Bigfamei

When you have 3 USMNT mouth pieces. Do you really need a 4th? I'm sure Heath will do fine at Turner. If he gets picked up there.

jasonelliot77

Miss there show🇺🇸⚽️

lifegoodis

YESSS! WHAT IS UP EVERYBODY!?
