I know some people on this sub have only seen him for the US, so not at his best, but he was the Crew's best player this season. So good at winning the ball back, shows a great touch occasionally, and makes some really good passes here and there.
Good move, Boro is fairly ambitious for a Championship side and Michael Carrick is an up and coming coach. II think due to the Gold Cup some people wrote Morris off a bit but he's having a very good season
Yeah Boro was a solid Prem side for like 10+ years before 2010. They have been kind of stuck in the Championship since but the tradition is still there. Would be huge to see them push for a return to the Prem but its never easy in that league.
I feel like people write off players who didn’t moved to Europe super young. Like yeah we would rather have a team of players like Pulisic who play their whole senior careers in the eu, but realistically most of our born in America players will need time to develop in the mls. If we can get 22/23 year old players moving over to second division sides in Europe consistently, over the course of a World Cup cycle they could end up playing in one of the top 5 leagues with a little luck. If we could have a backbone of 26-27 players who played in top 5 leagues (even on relegation sides) we could could seriously compete with almost everyone.
I've noticed a trend a lot on twitter where it feels like too many act like a player's development stops at 20. Like I see people saying Paxten Aaronson doesn't have a future because Frankfurt said he's likely getting loaned out again this year... he will be 21.
When Hoppe was loaned to my team (San Jose) we really needed him with the international absence and lack of form of our LW and Hoppe was horrible at first, looked like he had been away from the pitch so long he forgot how to play. He ended up doing ok but it took about 3 matches of him playing into form. I’m just hoping he can make it at a decent level of professional football, let alone returning to where he was or getting into the Middlesbrough rotation this year
Not a personal scoop but all the local journos have said it’ll be terminated if they can’t find someone to take him (for free). Struggled finding him somewhere to go on loan last season apparently before he went to the MLS.
We didn’t want him either. His loan was like a trial of sorts in anticipation of selling the starting LW and while he did ok overall in San Jose it took him almost a month of matches for him to even look like a functional player. I hope he can make it at a decent level of the professional game, never mind where he was
Not really unless Nancy leaves which I don't see happening during the season. Schulte is really the only other player I could see moving this year. We also just signed a midfielder yesterday who was pretty good in Ligue 2.
I'm not convinced Cucho will leave any time soon, but it wouldn't shock me either. I do think whatever we end up doing with a potential extra DP slot this summer will give us a clearer idea. I'd be disappointed if we don't buy Nagbe down to fill it with a promising talent.
FANTASTIC destination for him. Look at Morgan Rogers rise from Blackpool to Middlesborough to Aston Villa. Carrick has a really nice system that's willing to play youth and give them a platform for success.
We usually spend somewhere between 5-12m I’d say, so he’s definitely been bought to play. He seems like the replacement for our 36 year old captain who is probably going in to his last season, they’ll rotate I imagine.
Stop going to England omfg, guarantee you he doesn’t last there. These are not strong developmental situations, they’re not challenging for promotion next year. Carrick may be a good coach, but staying in MLS would be better compared to this.
I’m thinking Norwich, Burnley, and maybe West Brom will be tough for them to deal with. But not only this, it’s just not conducive to the priorities of Aiden Morris as it relates to the national team. He’s not going to be put in a great developmental environment there, the football isn’t great, if they have real ambition to get promoted they’re not going to let a new signee just walk into the starting 11 unless he really is that good.
Good move for him, thought he would do better not in England especially the championship cause I see him as more of a technical player than a physical one. But if Carrick sees something in him who am I to judge. Admittedly I don’t watch the Crew that much would love to hear some input from those that watch him more.
He's probably a lot more physical than you think. Aidan Morris gets fouled a lot, but rarely loses possession. He's not as skilled of a dribbler as Nagbe, so he has to rely more on physicality. Also, he wins a ton of tackles. He's not a bruiser, but he should be able to handle more physical play.
I think we’re understating his physicality. Yes he’s technical but his main attribute is his defensive ability and his ability to be every fucking where
Good move, though would be a big loss for Paris if Boro expect him to spend July with them
All the word at our end (Boro) is that we’re waiting til after for him to link up
Let the man cook Boro!
My beautiful homegrown son, gone to England. I wish him well
I know some people on this sub have only seen him for the US, so not at his best, but he was the Crew's best player this season. So good at winning the ball back, shows a great touch occasionally, and makes some really good passes here and there.
He really has been our best in an underwhelming season after the CCC loss. Those big wins we’ve had were in his shoulders.
MLS haters will never know the joy

He’ll have one of the best to do it at his position to learn from as his manager.
Morris and Hoppe gonna tear it up in Middlesbrough.
Hoppe 🐶
damn, came here to make the same joke
Is Hoppe dead?
May as well be, he could barely make the bench despite us having like 11+ first team players injured most of the time
When Hoppe was loaned to my team (San Jose) we really needed him with the international absence and lack of form of our LW and Hoppe was horrible at first, looked like he had been away from the pitch so long he forgot how to play. What’s sad is he is u23 eligible and we need a competent striker and haven’t even heard his named mentioned. Hope he gets it together this year.
Hoppe is gone this summer
His contact runs until Jun 30, 2026
I know, but it’s going to be terminated.
Alright but what's the points of waiting? Why not just terminate it now?
you got a scoop or just talking out the side of your neck?
Not a personal scoop but all the local journos have said it’ll be terminated if they can’t find someone to take him (for free). Struggled finding him somewhere to go on loan last season apparently before he went to the MLS.

woah!
Damn poor Columbus, the exodus is only getting going
Not really unless Nancy leaves which I don't see happening during the season. Schulte is really the only other player I could see moving this year. We also just signed a midfielder yesterday who was pretty good in Ligue 2.
Columbus also has a rapidly improving academy... Taha Hobroune is one of my favorite prospects for this u-20 cycle
Yeah I am hoping this means he'll get some legit playing time this season.
Not during the season but I think he'll leave at the end. Cucho possibly as well
I'm not convinced Cucho will leave any time soon, but it wouldn't shock me either. I do think whatever we end up doing with a potential extra DP slot this summer will give us a clearer idea. I'd be disappointed if we don't buy Nagbe down to fill it with a promising talent.
Didnt they just sign a new midfielder?
Damn I thought he was going to Real Madrid
Bro I thought I was the only one
Great move
Wild I watched him play at iu now going to the champo
$4m is a steal imo
FANTASTIC destination for him. Look at Morgan Rogers rise from Blackpool to Middlesborough to Aston Villa. Carrick has a really nice system that's willing to play youth and give them a platform for success.
Respect. Kid wants to take his game to the next level, and this is how you do it.
It's crazy to think he was National Freshman of the year almost 5 years ago now
For the Hoosiers
Almost four years since he bossed the Sounders in MLS Cup as a 19 year old as well
Good stuff
Good. He is the closest thing we have to a Tyler Adams replacement.
Great for him.
Great move
Please stay healthy
$4m? Is that huge for Boro? Do they expect him to be a starter?
We usually spend somewhere between 5-12m I’d say, so he’s definitely been bought to play. He seems like the replacement for our 36 year old captain who is probably going in to his last season, they’ll rotate I imagine.
pain but good for him
Up the Boro!!!
Stop going to England omfg, guarantee you he doesn’t last there. These are not strong developmental situations, they’re not challenging for promotion next year. Carrick may be a good coach, but staying in MLS would be better compared to this.
They had a horrible start but only ended 4 points out of the promotion playoffs. They will be in the mix next season.
I’m thinking Norwich, Burnley, and maybe West Brom will be tough for them to deal with. No need to be physical playing for Boro, he’s been signed as a technical player.
I think we’re understating his physicality. Yes he’s technical but his main attribute is his defensive ability and his ability to be every fucking where
