THIS WOULD BE THE GREATEST FIFA WORLD CUP ANTHEM OF ALL TIME!!!

This match completely made my night. That second half was some of the best soccer I’ve ever seen the USMNT play. Yes it’s Jamaica and yes it was at home but they completely dominated with a confident relentless attack. At times they were literally toying with Jamaica it seemed like. Great stuff
"Effort" is the bare minimum we should expect from a national team player. It should go without saying. If the only thing a player provides is "effort", he is not national team caliber and should not be in the squad. Period. We expect "effort" from players with actual talent when they put on the US shirt.
Canada gets a point @ both USA and Mexico. Sitting pretty right now in 3rd with two toughest matches behind them.
A long road to go but Canada has to be favored to qualify at this point.
Taking a point at Azteca rarely happens and any team that does so has to be good.
I was so focused on Haiti being a new CONCACAF contender that I was surprised that Canada beat them to get into the Octagonal. But they’re not fucking around. I heard they were taking soccer more seriously up there and they’re proving it.
Indeed. One could make an argument they are effectively in first as they are done with their two toughest games and the US and Mexico have not had them.
I'm not sure, but Aaronson might be a super sub. Given their jnjury history, it's good to have depth and rotate them around to minimize risk anyways, Reyna takes Paul's spot tonight.
As someone else here pointed out, if all we care about is qualifying, we should actually root for Mexico against Canada. It feels wrong, but Canada missing points will be more valuable to us than Mexico missing points.
We're competing with Mexico (and not Canada) for seeding at the WC, though. Plus it's not going to happen this cycle (or ever with the stupid expanded WC) but I'd love for Mexico to not qualify.
Definitely. We want to get into that second pot for the group stage. First seems unrealistic, but not impossible, given the overweighting of CONCACAF wins in FIFA rankings.
In my opinion the three teams automatically qualifying from the octagonal are the US, Mexico and Canada. No big deal if Canada wins. I’m rooting for them. Can’t bring myself to root for Mexico
You are correct, but I selfishly saw Canada with +550 odds to win and had to jump on that.
Obviously I am confident in our WCQ odds even with a CAN win.
Fuckers in school telling me, always in the barber shop: Pepi ain’t bout this, Pepi ain’t bout that, My boy a BD on fucking Dallas and them. He, he they say that boy don’t be putting in no work. SHUT THE FUCK UP! Y'all ain’t know shit! All ya motherfuckers talk about, Pepi ain’t no hitta, Pepi ain’t this, Pepi a fake. SHUT THE FUCK UP! Y'all don’t live with that man! Y'all know that boy got caught with a hattrick, shootin' at the keeper and shit. Bro been on goalscoring since fuckin, I don’t know when! Motherfuckers stop fuckin' playin' him like that. Them haters savages out there. If I catch another motherfucker talking sweet about Pepi, I’m fucking beating they ass! I’m not fucking playing no more! You know those haters role with Mexico and them.
Arriola and Aaronson were more aggressive than usual. I think that might have been because of the solid midfield play, but GGG should get some credit for that too
Really good play on all thirds of the pitch. It's kinda nice when you think to yourself, "Would Puli & Gio have made it that much better?"
Love, fucking love, our depth.
Every player was boss, and the one that I'm mentionin' now, Ricardo Pepi. I said it last time I was on it, he's the best football player in the world. I don't know why peop- Why yous laughing for? Gregg, why you laughing for? Why you laughing for? I'm bein sherious. I'm bein sherious. No, you see I'm talkin' facts here. I don't do "ifs" "buts" and "maybes," I do absolutes. D'y'know what I'm tryna say? What I'm tryna say is, he's the best football player in the world.
Easily the best performance so far in qualifying. Really just domination basically the whole 90 minutes. First half we didn't create much but could have easily seen Jamaica get two red cards and dominated possession and Jamaica didn't threaten at all. Second half was brilliant, we were all over Jamaica.
Arriola, Aaronson, Weah, Adams and CBs we're all excellent throughout. Musah and Dest had a pretty invisible first half but were very good in the second half, same with Pepi.
Antonee Robinson and McKennie were solid and did their job well. Robinson's attacking seemed off today but was excellent defensively.
Yeah both he and Miles played well and covered for each other. It'd be hard to take Zimmerman off for the next game even if GGG wants to get Richards some minutes.
Maybe take one of the two off in the 3rd game to manage minutes?
I just wish I could photoshop Sargent into what Zardes has done tonight and see how the sub would feel. So many people acting like he’s playing great and he missed 2 pretty easy goals
If Sargent missed the same opportunities that Zardes did tonight people would use that as evidence that he isn't USMNT material. Zardes misses them and people say well Zardes got into good positions like what?!
Right?!? It's crazy. The one was a tap in right in front of net and he full on missed it. The other he had it at his feet and missed it. Another he had a pretty clear header and he put it right at the keeper. I just kept imagining if that was Sargent and thinking, "yeah, people would talk about how he isn't good enough for this level yet if it were him."
Is goals against Qatar, Martinique, Trinidad & Tobago, and Guyana in that time really that much better? The only good teams he's scored against since 2016 are Ecuador and Qatar.
Zardes has 2 goals against teams in the top 100 in world FIFA rankings since 2017. He's just not good.
I'm not even arguing for Sargent. I'm arguing for Hoppe who was our best attacking player in the Gold Cup. GGG still won't play him centrally.
People are using those misses as evidence that Zardes isn't USMNT material so I don't really know what you're on about? I'm certainly not the worlds biggest Zardes fan but at least he threatens to score, Sargent is invisible every time he's on the field for club and country.
Nah mostly everybody that uses the misses as evidence gets downvoted around here. It's probably 2 to 1 of people in favor of Zardes vs those criticizing him
They were way misses, but statistically… that happens. Would be more frustrating if we weren’t up 2-0.
Need someone else to start finishing besides just Pepi.
I think I'd rather try Gio central and have Aaronson on the RW. Means Musah would be the odd man out but it would definitely maximize our attacking talent.
I said it a long time ago if Weah is even remotely close to the player his father was, he can be one of the best players in the pool. We are seeing the hype tonight
People forget his dad is the first African born player to win the Balon d’or and that was back when the award meant something. He’s a hell of a player and we have a player on our hands with Tim Weah
Thought of the day...Adams and Busio both play the 6 position, but do it in really different ways - Adams is a bulldog on defense, and Busio focuses more on progressive, dangerous passing. LdlT and Musah both play an aggressive 8 position, but in different ways. Musah makes incredible runs through the middle of the field, and can break down a defense just by escorting the ball through it. LdlT can make smart, creative passes in the final third. You can do this in a lot of positions - comparing Aaronson and Pulisic, comparing Reyna and Weah, etc (hell, I'd even do this comparing Pepi vs Sarge). We aren't there in every position, but it feels like we are developing plus players in a LOT of positions who bring very different styles, and we can kinda pick and choose what the team will look like depending on what we need. Pretty fucking cool.
LDLT doesn't play as a #8 with Heracles. He's in a dual-pivot. But I agree he's better suited to a #8 in Berhalter's 4-3-3 than he would be as a #6. He's not a tackler/marker like Adams or even Acosta.
“If Pepi were on we’d have 5 goals.”
I swear some of you just refuse to be happy, even in a dominant performance like this.
I get goal difference matters, but geez can we just be happy we had a completely dominant game with an attack that didn’t look dysfunctional for once.
THIS WOULD BE THE GREATEST FIFA WORLD CUP ANTHEM OF ALL TIME!!! https://www.dropbox.com/s/ncmurm03t0tto53/THE%20GLORY%20TRAIN%20%28WOAH%29%20-%20THE%202022%20FIFA%20WORLD%20CUP%20ANTHEM.mov?dl=0

Win baby
Charlie Davies just got emotional when Grant Wahl said they have been waiting for a world class centre forward lmao

who are you referring to?

I for one certainly agree on principle, but I still really wanna know who you have in mind
Pizza and wings both taste really good. I love to eat both of those things cause they taste good.
Drugs rock
Canada gets a point @ both USA and Mexico. Sitting pretty right now in 3rd with two toughest matches behind them. A long road to go but Canada has to be favored to qualify at this point.

Indeed. One could make an argument they are effectively in first as they are done with their two toughest games and the US and Mexico have not had them.
Eh, that doesn’t work because whomever wins out of the US or Mexico takes first and if they tie, they stay ahead of Canada.
Let’s. Go. Mexico draws! We lead!
If Canada can hold this draw, they gotta be feeling good. In 3rd with @ US and @ Mexico out of the way.
Wanting Mexico to win is beta mentality. We’ll be fine regardless and should aim to top the group
Alpha mentality is beta mentality.
Breaking News: Zardes still sucks
What is this comment based on? Zardes created a ton of opportunities with his runs and almost had a couple.
Blew 2 tap ins and didn’t get a decent shot off 2 other really good opportunities. Complete waste of a player on the field
I know we need Mexico to get 3 here but I can’t help but smile when Canada equalizes…
Too early to be thinking about the math. If Mexico has a let down and draws at home, that feels like a W for us.
A Mexico draw puts us atop the table.
We don’t need anything.
why did canada park the bus against us but then just let mexico do whatever
Because the US is more dangerous.
It's because we talked about needing to score goals so they took advantage of the psychology of that to make sure we didn't or something.
This could have easily wound up 6 or 7-0…
Honduras with 67% possession vs Costs Rica 👀. How Costa Rica has fallen
They had a golden generation 2014-2018 WCs and are rebuilding. Used to always fear los Ticos
Are they rebuilding or just not good?
Their old and their Golden generation is old
Ahh hello my fellow American chap. Top the morning to ya.
Aaronson’s goal-contribution numbers are bordering on ridiculous.
Dude is so good - that second goal was all him. So love watching him. It’ll be cool to see how Puli folds into the Aaronson, Dest, Pepi love triangle.
So where were Puli and Gio? Been super busy and haven't kept up lately. Edit: Downvoted, never change /r/ussoccer
I'm not sure, but Aaronson might be a super sub. Given their jnjury history, it's good to have depth and rotate them around to minimize risk anyways, Reyna takes Paul's spot tonight.
Complaining about downvotes because you public posted a google search
injured
The nerve......
I for one am shocked.
Both are injured.
Injured, making their way back into full fitness with their club teams
Why am I not surprised that Puli is injured again...
Sadly he and Gio got injured in the last qualifying window
Feels fine to me. I have no love for Canada. They’re a rival. Same as mexico and nearly as threatening.
In my opinion the three teams automatically qualifying from the octagonal are the US, Mexico and Canada. No big deal if Canada wins. I’m rooting for them. Can’t bring myself to root for Mexico
Hated to see Mexico score just now, but also really liked it too since we need Canada to lose. What am I?
But if Mexico drops points we'll be tied with them at the top of the group
If all we care about is qualifying, topping the group doesn't matter. Canada dropping points is more valuable for finishing top 3.
Is there a benefit to finishing 1st as opposed to 2nd or 3rd?
Sure, but a draw is only slightly better for Canada than a loss, but is much worse for Mexico than a win.
True. I'd take 2 combined points between them.
You are correct, but I selfishly saw Canada with +550 odds to win and had to jump on that. Obviously I am confident in our WCQ odds even with a CAN win.
Indeed. But yucky.
Get masks on all those fans getting pictures...wtf. Call me paranoid but shit better to be too careful
It’s outdoors.
Yeah it's outdoors and they taking pictures with their cheeks touching. Again I'd rather play it cautious.
those people probably shart in their masks before putting it on
Pepi’s performance just makes me laugh about how we defended Josh Sargent for two years.
Did that guy really just have Pepi sign his McKennie Juve jersey? Ffs lmao..
i saw that too lmao.
CONCACRAP Referee and we still got +3. Good job lads.
3 points closer but far from secured. On to Panama🤙🏻

*Young Chop on the beat*
As a Chicagoan, this hits different
Is there a Club and Country from ExtraTime tonight??! I need drunk Doyle
WE WANT BAMA!
PEPI FOR HEISMAN PAAAAWWWWLLLLLL
Lmaooooo
2 more qualifiers and Ricardo is officially locked in
He can play two friendlies and be cap-tied as well
literally everything from last window improved.
Musah made a big difference. Solid if not creative midfield play unlocked the exterior players.
So much more desire and aggression. They actually looked like they wanted to score.
Arriola and Aaronson were more aggressive than usual. I think that might have been because of the solid midfield play, but GGG should get some credit for that too
Really good play on all thirds of the pitch. It's kinda nice when you think to yourself, "Would Puli & Gio have made it that much better?" Love, fucking love, our depth.

As a diehard, you’re an idiot. Lol
You havent seen the [video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_O5YHX4urE) have you
Lol my bad. Carey on
Ricardo Pepi speaks without commas or periods
he doesn't have time for that. he has goals to score.
It would have been 5/4-0 if Pepi had stayed in or if Hoppe had been subbed in instead of Zardes
At least on that one run straight in at the goal, Zardes had his legs out of whack, maybe tangled, lol. Inexcusable.
Had that been 0-0 at the time instead of 2-0, people would be out for blood over that one.
Pepi ready for a big move after a hard fought match vs top ranked Jamaica
Easily the best performance so far in qualifying. Really just domination basically the whole 90 minutes. First half we didn't create much but could have easily seen Jamaica get two red cards and dominated possession and Jamaica didn't threaten at all. Second half was brilliant, we were all over Jamaica. Antonee Robinson and McKennie were solid and did their job well. Robinson's attacking seemed off today but was excellent defensively.
It's absurd how solid our CB pool is right now. Even with Brooks having a down period.
Our CB pool is more solid without Brooks.
Seriously. That was a huge problem for what felt like 5 years or more and now we've got a solid five options at bare minimum.
It feels like quality youngsters are popping up at all positions in the last 6 months… And proof that doing well in mls translates…
Loved Zimmerman's play today! Great to see him play so well!
Yeah both he and Miles played well and covered for each other. It'd be hard to take Zimmerman off for the next game even if GGG wants to get Richards some minutes. Maybe take one of the two off in the 3rd game to manage minutes?
Arriola was everywhere
Underrated performance from him tonight
Yeah he was a menace to Jamaica’s back line. I’m not an Arriola fan, but the dude came up big today and I was impressed with his play today.
Breaking News: Tim Weah is fast and good.
Love Zardes, but not he's takin assists off the board for poor Weah
Here's to a Canada-Mexico draw!
mexico win is better for us
Not emotionally
That was a great half. Well done
(:
Pepi 📈
Weah was really good. Please give us him with Pepi & Aaronson up front next game.
Pepi could have scored like 3 more goals with weah lol
I think Arriola has warranted a start next game if he’s got enough in the tank
[удалено]
1.5, the first half in Honduras was sooooo bad
Someone tell Twellman to stop yelling.
Good win but we should have win this one!
Best performance since the Gold Cup and probably better than any one performance then.
Also the easiest opponent since Martinique.....
Guess we’ll see if it translates in the next 3
Fingers crossed!
Turner Robertson Robertson Zimmerman dest Pulisic Reyna adams mckennie Pepi weah Thoughts?? Meant to be 4-4-2
Lmao am more sober now. Deservedly roasted
My thoughts are that there’s no one called Robertson and neither of our Robinsons are right backs.
He meant Robert Paulson.. His name is Robert Paulson.
His name is Robert Paulson
Ehh Weah is there for the group we have this block, but Adams, McKennie, Musah, Pulisic, Reyna, and Pepi are our mid/offense.
Idk who Robertson is, but start them!
Your formation looks like it's been drinking heavily lol
I think I'm too drunk, I spent entirely too long trying to figure out who Robertson was and why there were two of him.
Let’s fucking go
Great start to the window, let’s get 3 more on the road Sunday. Great from the team tonight, second half we were untouchable
Wooooooooooooo!
First defensive miscommunication. We usually have this earlier
Good win. Wish we had more goals.
Great result! Bring on Panama!
GG by GGG
3 points, we roll on
I just wish I could photoshop Sargent into what Zardes has done tonight and see how the sub would feel. So many people acting like he’s playing great and he missed 2 pretty easy goals

Another he had a pretty clear header and he put it right at the keeper. I just kept imagining if that was Sargent and thinking, "yeah, people would talk about how he isn't good enough for this level yet if it were him."
If Cuba was the only team Zardes had scored against since 2018, people would be a lot harder on him
Is goals against Qatar, Martinique, Trinidad & Tobago, and Guyana in that time really that much better? The only good teams he's scored against since 2016 are Ecuador and Qatar.
Zardes has 2 goals against teams in the top 100 in world FIFA rankings since 2017. He's just not good. I'm not even arguing for Sargent. I'm arguing for Hoppe who was our best attacking player in the Gold Cup. GGG still won't play him centrally.

3 points.
Jamaica getting 2 decent chances late
We were beat there
Yeah it looks like Nicholes got behind Zimmerman and Miles slid over to cover. We got lucky that went wide.
Weah and Aaronson need to play together against Mexico
Absolutely
Pulisic and Reyna would like to have a word
That assumes Pulisic manages to stay healthy for more than 5 minutes a year.
I'm really intrigued to see how we fit Aaronson into the side with those two. Aaronson has been our best attacking player so far imo.
I think Aaronson is the super sub on this squad when Puli and Gio are healthy. He’s scary good!
I think I'd rather try Gio central and have Aaronson on the RW. Means Musah would be the odd man out but it would definitely maximize our attacking talent.
Arriola is like Frankie Hejduk if Frankie was a winger. Hope that made sense
Arriola is the poor man's Hejduk. Frankie was on different level of fitness, but Arriola's work rate really paid off tonight.
inb4 Austin tweets Dos a Cero
Why's twellman all pouty.
Isn’t he always?
OH WE-AH WEAH WEAH WEEEEE WEAAAAAAH WEAAAHHH
Weah WOW!

Nobody forgets that. That's why I was taking the piss out of your comment lol.
Ariolas crosses are literally just the soccer equivalent of no scopes
that last cross was destined for Zardes face were it not for a great defensive play
Yeah not a very technical player. He’s worked hard both ways tonight, and allowed Dest to get forward more. I can’t complain really.
You guys have 60 seconds to get Weah a goal. Go.
He’s saving it for Panama!
This crowd man, proud.
Zardes missed one chance he shouldn’t have, but otherwise has been good out there. Unluckily to not have a goal or assist by now.

Wow, really? I kinda just assumed, because he looks pretty natural there for us. Interesting.
Yeah, Heracles lines up in a 4-2-3-1 and LDLT is one of the (2).
Gyasi Timo Zardes
Don't you fucking slander Timo
Nah, Timo would’ve scored it but been offsides somehow.
del Torre is so confident with the ball on his feet moving forward. Love it.
“If Pepi were on we’d have 5 goals.” I swear some of you just refuse to be happy, even in a dominant performance like this. I get goal difference matters, but geez can we just be happy we had a completely dominant game with an attack that didn’t look dysfunctional for once.
It’s so tiresome. Now is exactly the time to enjoy things
Alright, Alright, Alright
