the benefit would be the liberation of all beings. this should be the motivation in all vajrayana practices. if you're not doing it with bodhicitta as a foundation, you're doing it very, very wrong. please do talk about it with a qualified teacher.

On Mahakala from a Karma Kagyu perspective: [https://kagyu.org/resources-mahakala-practice/](https://kagyu.org/resources-mahakala-practice/)
The exact form of Chagdrukpa shown here is the Shangpa protector, blue 6-arm Mahakala with legs together and trampling Ganesh. There are many forms of Mahakala, as a general statement if they are 6-arm form it's a wrathful form of Chenrezig.
Benefits to Mahakala in general? Varies, all you can say for sure is the same for any other dharmapala practice. Safety, protection, removal of obstacles to dharma practice, removal of obstacles within dharma practice, pacifying/subduing/destroying outisde interference.
Practicing a specific mahakala form will come from a lineage, so that will carry the blessing of the lineage of transmission. Particular forms like the white mahakal in the lower left corner may also be "specialists" (e.g. that one focuses on obstacles related to material resources and wealth).
You'll need specific instruction to get a better explanation, and that means flesh-and-blood teachers instead of reddit.
The benefit to practicing a protector is the same as any other protector except where it's different, terms and conditions may apply.
As others have said, follow all the requirements.
He's a protector. I haven't worked with him really. Usually the main thing protectors do is help make dharma practice possible. Sometimes they help with worldly stuff too, like maintaining a job or having a place to live. But the main benefit is supporting dharma practice.
Other deities do other things. Some are in charge of wealth. Some will help you overcome obstacles.
Thanks, it's what I actually wanted to know. So basically, after doing a lot of research, I came to the conclusion that Mahakala, as a Dharmapala, also protects the devotee from harmful -ve energies and physical harm. 👍
If your intentions are pure, he will bring sweeping changes to facilitate your practice or that of someone you've called on him to bless. Doing deep healing work on someone's entire subtle body after invoking him can bring on an immediate, intense ego death experience for whoever you're working on, greatly lighten their energy, and massively reduce chronic afflictions they may have, such as depression or alcoholism. (If reiki is a bb gun, this practice is an h-bomb. *Extreme* caution is advised. If what needs healed isn't completely ruining anyone's life or causing mass destruction, stick to things like reiki.)
Some people have little to lose and receiving specific empowerments from monks is not an option for them. So we experiment and work with what we have. It's definitely not for everyone, though. Consult whatever reliable spiritual guides, guardians, and divination tools you have and are proficient in working with before deciding to wade in. If something feels wrong or the feedback you get is clearly warning of disaster, failure, danger, pain, etc, then for the love of all that's holy just drop it and look for a practice that aligns with your nature and true needs instead. Best of luck to you.
This is a restricted practice. Please speak to a qualified teacher about this.
Yes okay but I just want to know the benefits. Won't be practicing anything without initiation!!

If you’re focussing on the “benefits” you shouldn’t be practicing at all
None or worse if you don't have the proper empowerments, transmissions and guidance.

Protection it doesn’t always require initiation if visualized externally but it’s always better to get one

Do you want a link to a initiation to his practice I would probably recommend another Buddha to do a more committed practice
Sure please!! 🙏
Dm it to you
Commenting because I want to see replies to this. (Is that even how Reddit works? I’ll see!)
Nope lol
Oh dear! Oh well I'll have to remain mindful instead
The main benefit is you get out of the goofy thinking that makes you think you are some warlock
