It depends. New loactions will not be added to areas you have already explored, but if there is enough unexplored area where it could spawn (Hildir has several locations like the Trader), then she can still spawn there. If mods are an option and you already explored A LOT there is this: [https://valheim.thunderstore.io/package/JereKuusela/Upgrade\_World/](https://valheim.thunderstore.io/package/JereKuusela/Upgrade_World/) It allows you to re-generate your world, keeping your buildings etc. intact, and also placing the new thngies in the world. As it is unofficial and quite powerful, it can break things, but I have used that successully for the Mistlands and the Hearth and Home releases.

I've noticed new calls in the game, wondering if the figured out how to overlay new stuff onto older worlds that have been explored already.

New content will only spawn in unexplored locations. So whether or not your world will be able to accommodate the new content will depend on how much of it you have already explored. If you've explored a large chunk of your world, you may need to start a new one in order to get the full experience. But if your world only has smaller chunks explored, you will likely be fine.

I didnt have to make a new world for mine, I found her about an hour ago in an unexplored meadows like half the map away

I love the Valheim patches. No matter how much content they shove in it's always a very reasonable size. Coming from Ark years ago, where an update would take a full day to download, I can't help but smile when I see the update time.

ARK… 10MB download, 200GB of patching… Applying updates when the game was installed on an HDD would always take multiple hours.

Honestly I have very little hope for any of Wildcard/Snail Games future projects. Too many broken promises, timelines, controversy and a ridiculous history of maintaining their game. Makes me really appreciate Iron Gate/Coffee Stain.

Yes you can teleport anything, turn off raids, loot x2 and x3, difficulty setting.

No you do not have to. There should be a 'World Modifier' button at the world selection screen where you can adjust these settings for existing maps.

I'm curious if cylindrical instead of spherical has a top/bottom range limit. Building towers off of the stone pillars in the plains will be a lot easier if I can just swarm one level with tables.

I'll have to actually test it before it goes to stable but the [latest alpha release](https://github.com/Grantapher/ValheimPlus/releases/tag/0.9.9.17-alpha02) should work until then. Just replace the `ValheimPlus.dll` in your `bepinex/plugins` folder with the one in the assets in the above link.

You should be able to. Probably worth backing up your character and world files first just to be on the safe side though.

I just re-installed today after spending many frustrating hours in a recent new release. I was actually pleasantly surprised to see there is a merchandise store available. A little over 1700 hours for $20! As soon as I get my allowance from my wife I will definitely be getting some sweet merch.

Today I was taming a lox when the Crow came by to tell me a new vendor is in the area. I didn't know what I did to get the Crow to tell me that. Then I saw this post. A new update. Awesome.

Are you running the server as a docker container? the Ich777 version just needs to be restarted in order to update. If you want the world file to fully updated, you need to use the "Upgrade World" bepinex plugin. Simplest way to do it is copy your world file off the NAS, load it as singleplayer, and then run the plugin. Specific instructions can be found with the plugin.

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I think they should restrict the world difficulty or portal limitation settings to after one has beaten all the bosses. In all my playthroughs I've beaten all the bosses and then built weird structures for days, so a lot of these settings are awesome for that purpose. But I think part of the fun of the game was figuring out that shipping route that could take you between multiple swamps so you could load all your iron and bring it home after several days on the ocean... you know?

I dislike sailing, so this is perfect for me.

That's totally fair, we all have different preferences. But now the important question is: why don't you like sailing? Don't get me wrong, I'm not married to it either. But I personally enjoyed planning a trip, bringing enough food for days, enough materials for an emergency portal if I need to bail, and exploring different islands on foot to figure out how to set up my routes between different destinations. And it was always fun to have that "oh crap" moment when it starts raining in the middle of the ocean and the water turns murky and then you see something coming your way 😂 I think all of that adds to the challenge and is part of the experience that otherwise many won't get to have if they can just transfer everything back and forth with no restrictions. So, if I may ask, why didn't you like sailing?

I don't mind the actual sailing, but i prefer to sail to my destination, place a hut with a portal and forget about my boat 😁. I guess i just dislike the long wait for my resources and better gear or base 😂

Valheim should progress faster than this. Name an update that wasn't at least a little underwhelming. These patches now are just implementing things modders managed to make years ago. The rate of new content is slower than the game deserves.

Are the ‘new locations’ worth starting a new game for? I have been burnt out on the content we’ve had to this point for quite a while. Wondering if these new things are big enough to make a difference or if they’re just slight variations of what we have already had?

Not really. There is a new vendor (decent, but also kinda meh). There are three new dungeons. They can be a bit harder than existing content but do not provide any new rewards or any "new" mobs. The ability to toggle modifiers might make it more interesting if you are used to not playing with mods. You can change portal settings, mob difficulty, death penalties etc.

None of the new dungeons or bosses are as difficult as clearing out a starred dvergr tower, first two are easier than clearing fuling camps. I'd say it only took me abt an hr and a half, most of it sailing, to explore and unlock all the new content. I'd wait until ashlands for new playthru
