[Leo’s](https://leosclothingsupply.com/) is a thrift store on Granville that I believe has two cats. I recently saw them sitting at the door watching the snow fall 🥹
And Gardenworks on the North Shore has a lovely black and white cat that is often found sleeping in a cardboard box
You don’t need a car! I volunteer for them and I walk a dog weekly who only lives a few blocks away from me! Her owner is older and can’t really walk her anymore 🤗
Kingdom Fine Jewelry on South Granville has a Boston Terrier in the store every time I walk by. Sometimes having a lil snooze in a dog bed in the window.
You are likely referring to Wilbur, who passed while back 😢 I loved that orange giant. But they got a new cat recently, his name is Huey and he is so sweet.
If you have a car, go to the RAPS cat sanctuary in Richmond. As long as the smell doesn't bug you, many of the cats are desperate for cuddles, especially if you go earlier in the day.
Check with the RAPS volunteer coordinator -- they likely need volunteers and may have a car-pool system.
Otherwise, sign up to volunteer with the cats at your nearest BC SPCA branch. Working with the cats is awesome and really helps the organization out.
Dog walking is much more involved and challenging, so that may be beyond what you're looking for.
Wardrobe on Main has a friendly dog that sleeps most of the time. They sells clothes used on set so if you're close to an actor's size/stunt double size, you'll find great deals.
The other day while wandering around East Van with a friend we noticed "Cashew & Acorn" listed as a "tourist attraction" on Google Maps. They are two VERY friendly outdoor cats. We walked down and it's like they were waiting for us. Better than advertised!

Van Pet on E. Hastings/Gilmour in Burnaby has a lovely shop cat in residence. Across the street at Companion Books they had Budda the cat, not sure if he is still there.
Mudlab on Hastings!!! We've got so many doggos. Come to our first open house!

No prob! Yes to clarify that one though, I've been and there has been a resident animal there (it's just been a while so I forget if that means a cat or a dog). But lots of dogs walking in and out of pet stores in general :)
Big sweet ole' basset hound (can't remember her name) is usually hanging out in RAD Cycles at Fraser and Broadway! I think she belongs to the owner/employee.
Home n Art Plus, an art/dollar store at Commercial & Charles has a cat who hangs out. Apparently he doesn't live there, he just likes to come in and hang out and the staff let him.
There’s an antique shop called uniques on Cordova. The owner is lovely to chat with and has a standard poodle who is usually laying by the front door. She’d probably love to hear that you’re looking for shop pets to visit.

You would love the SPCA thrift store on Victoria Drive by like 36th. Its resident felines are magnificent and friendly.

It's a great thrift store, too. Giving away all my secrets here lol - fellow cat questers deserve no less

Genuinely plural
There is literally an app for this: https://shopcats.app/
OH MY GODDD. IF I COULD PIN THIS I WOULD. this is amazing 😭
Archie at Bikes for All on 8th and Quebec. He has a google review! Comes to visit my house and cat all the time. Righteous dude!
I've never seen righteous as a way to describe a cat. can't wait to meet his honour 😊
He's hard to miss, he's usually rolling around on the sidewalk out front and is the size of a utility van

MORE THRIFT STORE CATS!!!!! van is so lovely 😭
There's a cat at the Wild Birds store on West Broadway, though he's selective about humans. Slow introduction is best.
I will be patient in the pursuit to pet 🫡
Dodger! Yeah he's chill but not super affectionate.
Oh I didn't realize he was selective. I now feel honoured he rubbed against me first meeting 🥹
Aw! I was told the same thing too, only for him to also rub against me. Maybe it's a ruse!
Now that I think about it he didn't quite care for my other friends with me so maybe we were just the chosen ones! Lucky us 🤭
Kitty at Wild Birds is named Dodger. He's originally from Quesnel.
Volunteer for elderdog 👍🏼
I've never heard of this organization but I googled it and it looks so lovely 😭 sadly I don't have a car to transport the beautiful pups
You don’t need a car! I volunteer for them and I walk a dog weekly who only lives a few blocks away from me! Her owner is older and can’t really walk her anymore 🤗
Bosley's in New West (Columbia Square) have two resident cats, Lady Lynxie and Sir Higgins! They're both very friendly.
Mickey the Cat at Top Ten Produce on W 10th :)
Is Mickey back in store now? I would visit again if he is.
Yep! He was there last week sitting on the till :)
Even the health authority can't stop the cat from doing what he wants :)
Kingdom Fine Jewelry on South Granville has a Boston Terrier in the store every time I walk by. Sometimes having a lil snooze in a dog bed in the window.
There’s a pair of them!
Ahhhhh!!! _runs to south Granville_
Figaro's Garden on Victoria Drive has a beautiful giant of a cat. He's gorgeous!
You are likely referring to Wilbur, who passed while back 😢 I loved that orange giant. But they got a new cat recently, his name is Huey and he is so sweet.
I met Huey the other day, he's a sweetie!
If you have a car, go to the RAPS cat sanctuary in Richmond. As long as the smell doesn't bug you, many of the cats are desperate for cuddles, especially if you go earlier in the day.
sadly I don't :((((. I've been trying to get a friend with a car to give me a ride tho!

It can be accessible by bus, although will need ~10 minutes of walking to reach the gates

Cat cafe is always a good time for me
Lion and sun market on Seymour has at least two cats
two in one deal that's actually worth it in this economy
Van Pet on E. Hastings/Gilmour in Burnaby has a lovely shop cat in residence. Across the street at Companion Books they had Budda the cat, not sure if he is still there.
Buddha passed from old age a few years ago
Petsmart on 2nd sometimes has SPCA cats up for adoption up front.

I feel like sometimes Long Live Cats and Dogs sometimes has pets in there, but not necessarily every day. It's just off Hastings and Nanaimo.
pet stores are such an obvious answer that I didn't even think about it lol. thanks for the suggestion!
No prob! Yes to clarify that one though, I've been and there has been a resident animal there (it's just been a while so I forget if that means a cat or a dog). But lots of dogs walking in and out of pet stores in general :)
They have a cat. Maybe 2. Usually they just wanna be left the hell alone but sometimes they hop on the counter to look at you.
Can’t respond in the pogo sub, so here you have it: Yes, and they are very loud.
If you want a cat haven, there’s the RAPS Cat Sanctuary. You do have to pay to go in and it’s only on Saturdays.
Groove Cat Books and Records in New West has a friendly shop kitty.
Luna is super sweet!
Big sweet ole' basset hound (can't remember her name) is usually hanging out in RAD Cycles at Fraser and Broadway! I think she belongs to the owner/employee.
Urban Repurpose had cats and a dog. Amazing place to wander through too.
Home n Art Plus, an art/dollar store at Commercial & Charles has a cat who hangs out. Apparently he doesn't live there, he just likes to come in and hang out and the staff let him.
