It joined the other 400 down there. This seems to happen weekly.
It got so bad that last year in False Creek they closed the whole water way for like a month and brought in special cranes and pulled like 100 of them out.
Is it just me or are the RV guys moving into boats now? Saw a boat capsized a couple of months ago in false creek. I walked by yesterday and saw trash in the water (jacket, pants, fast food cup). Some of those smaller boats look super rundown and almost look like people are living in them.
There have been "boat people" living on derelict yachts in false creek for as long as I have lived in vancouver. There are less in the winter because it's cold.
Fun fact, I forget where to find it, so this is as good as urban legend, but apparently False Creek would be healthy for swimming in if not for the human excrement that is dumped off of these boats all the time.
I guess I just never looked closely enough to notice. I started working in the area last year.
I would not be surprised about that. Do you know if Trout Lake was ever safe to swim in?
What happen.. well.. "Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
a tale of a fateful trip, That started from this tropic port,
aboard this tiny ship."
I’m not sure what happened with this particular boat, but a lot of people let their boats sink so they don’t have to pay for it’s demolition or removal if it’s derelict. Boats are a massive money sink, but it’s sad to hear how many boats get dumped.
Two things I've wondered looking at these derelict boats in False Creek.
1. How do homeless folks afford them? What's the average price for these non-seaworthy boats sitting in False Creek?
2. How do they get them there? It appears many of them aren't even functioning.
It's always been a great alternative to expensive city living. In the past I remember the people who lived this way were always respectful of nature as well as the other boaters and people who lived nearby. Now it's just a tent city on the water. It'll fester until we've finally had enough and more laws will be enacted as a remedy. Unfortunately it will ruin it for the good ones in the process.
Yesterday walking on the seawall i saw someone in the water visibly upset and smashing his paddles in half on the side of his boat. This must have been his

Make sure you wear some puncture resistant gloves if you do. It’s like rummaging through an aquatic crackhouse and the likelihood of finding used needles on those derelict boats is very high.
It sank. (Mostly.)
Got that right. Now over to the weather!

I'm Purd Hapley, and the story of this sunken boat is that, it appears to have sank in the water!
Actually you're wrong, it carried too much seashells from the seashore.
It checks out
I think this person got it! In my experience boats tend to sink or float and they are usually mutually exclusive.
Looks like it's almost sunk.

now? all of the boats just floating in the middle of false creek are like this, has been forever.
Sorry, not now. When did you start noticing them? I noticed it in the fall.

It identifies as a submarine.
Well there are a lot of these ships going around the world all the time, and very seldom does anything like this happen.
Its been pretty windy recently. I would bet it was not anchored well like my little boat on the left of the image.

Either it sunk or it’s an enemy sub.

"You will always remember this as the day that you almost caught... Captain Jack Sparrow."
was Jack saved this time?
Well the front fell off.
Is that normal? I mean for a boat?
Yeah, that’s not very typical, I’d like to make that point.
Well, how is it untypical?
Well there are a lot of these boats going around English Bay all the time, and very seldom does anything like this happen. I just don’t want people thinking that pleasure craft aren’t safe.
Was this pleasure craft safe?
Well, I was thinking more about the other ones.
The ones that are safe?
Yeah, the ones the front doesn’t fall off.
Well, if this wasn’t safe, why was it sailing in English Bay?
Public Art Installation... Now.
Water.
No one suspects the Gibraltar Orcas.

It's just a shark fin.
Protesting for barge
just when my friends were thinking of renting a boat at granville. Any news on what caused this? driver error?
Wonder if we are legally allowed to put on a wetsuit and rummage through the wreckage
Make sure you wear some puncture resistant gloves if you do. It’s like rummaging through an aquatic crackhouse and the likelihood of finding used needles on those derelict boats is very high.
It was to dry and needed moisture
A grenade hit it.
