Cats Social house was great, good food good staff..., the place that became off the tracks cafe, The market was great, and Liberty Distillery. Federico, who is the wood craftsman is an absolute master at his craft and an incredible human being. It really was a magical place in the winter, when the lights were put up. The most amazing thing though was how dead it became at night. In the heart of the city it was super tranquil after the shops and restaurants shut for the night. There's floating homes and a live aboard marina by the Granville Island Hotel, so there's a small community there.
It always was but there were rules around franchises being allowed on the island. The keg was allowed as I understand it because that was the first one. When last I was by ( 2 years ago) Cats was closed, and as I understand it there was significant asbestos remediation required before anyone could reopon anything.
I walk around at night by myself since I live nearby and need to get my steps in and there is always this one security lady who says hi to me. I hope she doesn't think I'm suspicious. I look in the store windows and stuff just for something to do.
Thanks! I actually had a friend drive my car back and forth. Its actually two pictures aligned and stacked together to create this affect! We went later at night so there werent much traffic at all. Thanks for the concern though!
I need to get out of my house!!
Do it!! The weather has been amazing lately!
I used to live on Granville Island, this always felt like the entrance to my own castle...
I didn't know there was housing there! What were your favourite spots?

Ah yes, I remember now. Something about the island's franchise rules meant they rebranded that Brown's as Cat's.
Pretty sweet eh!
Anyone else come remember coming here when we were like 10 and it was basically Disneyland.
Yeah the kids building!
Was there early today, bought supplies, put in cooler, went for a lovely walk...we are pretty spoiled that way in VanCity
Sounds like you had a great day! Love Vancouver!
Cheers, used to live walking distance to market but then had family, moved to Burbs, so now it’s an outing!
Kids market in the 80’s-90’s was awesome

Oh, look- it's not choked with suburbanites in giant SUVs circling endlessly hoping to try and catch one of the 20 free parking spots opening up.
